CHAPTER TEN
"Nik! Get out here you bastard!" Sol shouts as she walks out of her bedroom, an angered look on her face.
Kol glances over at his brother with a smirk on his face, "What'd you do this time, brother?"
"Shut it, Kol. What did I do this time, Sol?"
"Did you use my conditioner?"
"What? No," Klaus scoffs, a scared look in his eyes.
"No, I can tell..." She trails off as she sniffs his hair. "What are you doing?"
"French vanilla beans. French vanilla beans! I can smell it on you right now!"
The hybrid stares at her, "Fine! Stop smelling my hair."
"You know how much that stuff costs?"
"She's right, that stuff is so expensive she uses my card to buy it," Kol chips in, earning a glare from his brother.
"Sol, I didn't use your conditioner."
"Then why does your hair look so baby soft!?"
"Fine, Sol. I ran out of shampoo and I used your conditioner. We're talking about conditioner, right?"
Kol chuckles, "Oh, you shouldn't have said that."
"You used it as shampoo!? It's for moisture, Nik. Not for cleaning. I can't believe- I can't believe we're friends. Give me it back man."
Klaus stares at her, his stormy blue eyes filled with confusion. "Give you what back?"
"Give me it back. I'm sq-"
"Think about what you're doing!" Klaus shouts as Sol pulls at his hair, Kol laughing his ass off in the corner. "I'm squeezing it out of your hair!"
"You're squeezing it out of my hair?"
"Yes, I am," Sol answers her voice calm.
"Stop squeezing it out of my hair!"
— — —
"Take it off!" Sol and a few hybrids shout as they take shots, their sanity having left hours ago.
"I hate this game," Klaus muttered as he pulled his top off, watching as Kol sat beside Sol with an arm wrapped around her shoulders.
The room was filled with empty beer bottles and a few semi-full bottles of vodka. The lighting was dim as the Mikaelsons, Sol and four hybrids sat around a table, a stack of poker chips sat in the centre.
"Sol, you're next," Klaus grumbles out, now left in only his boxers and a pair of socks.
Both Kol and Sol smirk, the vampire whispering plays into her ear ensuring her win.
"Hey! That's cheating!" The hybrid yelled as he watched the best friends whisper into each other's ears.
"What is, brother? I'm just telling sweet little Sol here the things I would like to do to her... Would you rather I tell everyone?"
One of the hybrids, John smirked, "Oh I think Klaus would love that. Come on, Kol, tell us yours and Sol's plans for the night."
"Well-"
"Shut your bloody mouth."
Kol smirks, lifting his hand up to cover his lips before yet another smirk appears on his face as he realizes the loss of his brother, "Wrong move, Nik. I guess you will have to go through with the bet."
Klaus's eyes widen as he stares down at the cards only to realize he had in fact lost. "Bloody hell."
Sol's green eyes lit up as she led the majority naked hybrid outside, Kol following behind her with a devilish smirk on his face.
"Alright, Nik! Take off those boxers!"
A bright red blush coated the hybrid's cheeks as he did so before running five laps of the street in the nude, both Sol and Kol laughs booming through his ears as they watched him.
— — —
Two months had passed since Sol left her family with Klaus and Kol. She had kept minimal contact with Jeremy and hadn't spoken to Elena since.
Klaus had become a second brother and Kol... Kol was Kol. Sol still wasn't sure how she felt about him. Some days he was flirty and the next he threatened to throw her off a bridge.
"Do you think I have anger issues, Sol?" Klaus asks after daggering Kol for the fifth time that day. He never kept him daggered though, he only left him for a few hours in order to hear his own thoughts.
"I mean an issue implies something you can fix... so no."
The hybrid smiles, "I'll take that as a no. Now, you and I, love, are going on an adventure."
"Nik the last time I got high with you it lasted for six days and I had to go to the hospital... I hate to say this, but no."
"I wasn't going to ask that but now that you mention it... it sounds quite fun. We should wait till Kol wakes up though- so he can make sure you kiss him this time, not me."
Sol chuckles, her eyes brightening at the memory, "Oh, he was so pissed."
His mouth curved into a smile, knowing exactly why his brother was so upset by the act. "That will have to wait until tonight. Right now, you and I are going to meet some people."
"More wolves?" Sol inquired as she tied her shoes, not wanting to trip when they walked for however long distance.
"You know me so well, love. Now help me get Kol off the floor."
The human shakes her head, the heel of her boot kicking Kol's side, "No. Let's leave him here. He looks good on the floor."
"Your funeral."
"It's better than a coffin."
— — —
"Was that really necessary?" Kol questions as Sol and Nik walk back inside their temporary home, a few new hybrids trailing after them. "I didn't even do anything this time."
Sol smirks, "You were talking too much. Nik couldn't hear his own thoughts over your incessant babbling."
Before Kol could fire back, Nik stomped into the room with a conflicted look. "We need to go back to Mystic Falls."
"What, no. I'm not letting Sol go anywhere near there again," Kol argues, a fuming look on his face just from the idea of her going back.
"It's just for a few days. Daddy's dead. We need to check it out."
"And who told you that?" Questions Sol from beside Kol.
"Stefan... Rebekah said she watched them kill him."
"You know he isn't dead right? I love Bex but her heart is fragile and they are excellent manipulators. I'd bet she's daggered or will be daggered soon. That's how they work."
Klaus sighs, "I know. And that is why we are bringing the hybrids. If Mikael really is alive, we're going to need all the help we can get. Now pack your bags. We're leaving in an hour."
As the hybrid walks out of the room, Kol turns to face Sol, his brows drawn together as he thought of the potential consequences. "You don't have to go, darling. I can talk to him."
Her expression softened at his words. "I'll be fine, Koala. Besides, I'll have you by my side all night. No one can hurt me if I'm with you."
— — —
"Well, I hate to say it but your brother sure knows how to throw a wake," Sol mutters as she and Kol walk past a band and a bunch of screaming teenagers/hybrids.
"It's just one of my brothers' many talents."
As soon as the band finished their song, Klaus walked up on the small stage, "Good evening, everyone! I wanna thank you all for being here with me to celebrate. It's been a long time coming."
Both Sol and Kol roll their eyes, "Does he always have to be so dramatic?"
The vampire beside her smiles, "Also one of his talents. Now, will you dance with me, darling?"
"You're not going to trip me, are you?" Sol asks skeptically.
"Do you really think so low of me, darling?" When Sol continued to stare at him with a look that said she knew he was lying he spoke up once again, "Fine... I'll only trip you once this time."
The girl shrugs before taking his hands, "Better than last time."
"That was your fault."
"You almost threw me off the roof!"
"You deserved it! You were being annoying."
"I said your hair looked like shit, not that I was going to kill you."
"Just be a good girl and dance with me, Sol... There you go, just like that. See, you and I are quite the pair."
"I still hate you."
"And I still think you are the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on."
— — —
Kol's eyes widen as he listens in on Stefan and Klaus's conversation, his arms immediately wrapping around Sol. "You need to get inside. Mikael is here."
Sol nods, her hand grasping his as he leads her inside the Lockwood mansion though before they could get inside, a dagger was stabbed into Kol's chest before a rock was slammed against Sol's head.
The original screamed in pain as both he and Sol dropped to the ground. Before he could pass out he quickly grabbed Sol, softening her fall before his skin turned grey.
What felt like hours which was only a matter of minutes had passed and Sol was slowly waking up, her head pounding as she opened her eyes.
Her body felt like jelly as she was held up by an unknown man, a strong force on the back of her neck. She groans softly, blowing some hair away from her face as she looks up. "Ugh, Mikael, I presume?"
The man smirks, "She's a smart girl, Niklaus. Too bad I'll have to kill her just like I killed your little brother."
Sol's eyes widen at the news, "Don't you dare touch him," She grunts as she fights against his hold.
"Oh but dear, I already did. It was too bad really, he kept screaming your name as he turned to dust. He really did love you... but you never loved him, did you? No."
"Let her go!" Klaus shouts from the foyer of the Lockwood mansion, his heart racing at the knowledge of the death of Kol and the possible death of Sol.
"Well if you'd stop being a coward and come out here, It would be my pleasure to let her go."
"Don't, Nik! It's not worth it. He'll kill you."
A single tear trails down Nik's cheek as he watches his father take a knife from his jacket before stabbing Sol in the stomach. Blood bubbled up her throat, escaping from her lips as her legs gave out.
"Once she's dead, Niklaus, no one will ever love you! You will be all alone for eternity!"
"He's lying Nik! You're not unworthy of love- You are the most worthy person I know. Don't- don't listen to him."
Klaus stared at the girl, watching as blood continued to pour from her wound, the sweet scent filling his nose.
In a matter of seconds, Klaus was sped against a wall, Damon stabbing a piece of wood into his stomach. But before he could stab it into the hybrid's heart, he was dragged off by none other than Stefan.
"What are you doing?" Damon yells as Stefan continues to hold him down.
Klaus glances down at the stake, recognizing it to be white oak before grabbing it. He sped at lightning speed toward his father before stabbing it into the older man's heart, his body erupting into flames.
Klaus didn't waste any time before he grabbed Sol's body and bit into his wrist, letting his blood pour down her throat, slowly healing her wounds. "Come on, wake up- you're okay, love. Just open your eyes."
Sol slowly opened her eyes, her eyebrows creasing as she stared at the crying hybrid. "Are you okay? Where's Kol? Oh my god, Kol- where is he?"
Instead of answering, the hybrid wrapped his arms around her, holding her body close, his hands holding her back as hers wrapped around his waist. "He's gone- He- I- Nik?"
"It's okay. We're gonna be okay, love."
A hybrid slowly walked up to Klaus before tapping on his shoulder. "What?"
"We found his body lying behind a bush... Tyler told me to bring it to you."
"Thank you. Now leave," Klaus mutters as he stares at Kol's body, his heart going back to normal when he sees he was only daggered.
"Sol- Sol, love. He was bluffing. My father was bluffing. Kol's okay, he was only daggered."
— — —
Sol had once again pulled the dagger out of Kol, this time putting him on his bed rather than leaving him on the floor. "He should wake up soon. There are some blood bags in the minifridge," utters Klaus as he stood in the doorway watching as Sol sat next to the slightly dead vampire.
"Thank you, Nik... I'm sorry for what your dad said."
"It's okay, love. Worse things have been said to me."
"Still doesn't mean you deserved it."
Klaus smiles softly at the girl, "He's waking up. I'll leave you two alone."
Sol watched as the vampire's eyes flickered open, his pupils large as he surveyed the room. "Well, aren't you a sight, darling? You know, if you're the thing I get to see every time I wake up, I don't think I'd mind getting daggered."
The girl smiles, a choked laugh coming from her lips as a tear fell down her face.
"Hey, what's wrong? Is my charm so strong it made you cry? I can tone it down if you'd like... not much though, I don't think it'd be possible."
"No- no, I'm just really happy you're okay."
"Oh... I'm happy you're okay too," Kol mutters as the girl holds onto him, her head buried in his neck.
"You know if we keep hugging like this, Nik is going to start thinking we're dating," Kol jokes as he clasps his hands behind her back, getting a tighter hold on the girl.
"He already thinks we are."
