I have become

I have been told that
you should grow up
when I was just seven
Because they were expecting
another set of kids
I did as I was told
I have been told that
you should adjust
I have been told that
you should sacrifice
I have been told that
you should endure
And when I finally grew up,
I put myself before anyone
I took everything I wanted
without giving a fuck
if the other one is good or bad
My voice became higher
to the point nobody could
ever dismiss me and my needs
And just like that, I have become
everything my younger self
didn't want me to be.
