CHAPTER FOUR
► SICK

"So, someone just bought the moon buggy before you two could come back from helping this, eh, Todd?"

"Correct." Donatello sulked as he answered (Y/N)'s question, only earning a hum from her. Michelangelo was sitting on her lap, crying softly on her shoulder, also devastated by the fact they never got the Jupiter Jim moon buggy from Repo Mantis. (Y/N) only patted his shell, rubbing it slowly to comfort the depressed box turtle, but also giving Donatello head pats to comfort him as well, making him lean on her shoulder.

"I don't think he's got this." Leonardo joked, entering the conversation as he pulled Michelangelo away from the female, watching Raphael follow the patterns on the Dance Dance Revolution arcade game. The youngest brother shot him a glare as he was pulled away from the girl.

"Hey! Leave him alone." Michelangelo defended his eldest brother, switching up quickly from his sad moment with Donatello.

"What?" Leonardo sent him a smirk. "I'm just saying he doesn't have this."

"You're just trying to get in my head!" Raphael panted, not taking his eyes off the screen as he continued to dance.

"Oh, my peaches and cream, he just doubled." Donatello drew his head away from (Y/N)'s shoulder, looking back up at the screen, his past depression now gone in less than a second.

"Rag, Now!" Raphael demanded, sweating through his red mask as he danced.

Michelangelo was quick to pull out a rag and wipe off the sweat from Raphael's brows gently as he asked. "Have I ever told you how big and beautiful you are?"

"No, but thank you." Raphael panted.

"Oh." Michelangelo muttered, turning to face (Y/N) with a giant smile on his face. "What about you (Y/N)? Have I ever told you how big and beautiful you are?" He asked with a giggle.

"Si. Quite a few times now." She replied, scratching his shell gently as he let out a hum of delight, leaning in to her touch, only earning a small glare from the red-eared slider.

"Uh, he is about to set a new high score." Donatello snapped them out of their little world. "I can't watch, but I can't not watch!"

"You know what they say about big-time moments?" Leonardo taunted his older brother with a smug smile plastered over his face.

"Yes, I do." Raphael breathed heavily. "They say that in big-time moments, leaders make-"

"BRAIIIN!"

Everyone turned their attention behind them, only to see the mutant rat, also known as Splinter, all blue and a snot running down his nose. He was clutching his head in pain, yelling. "Ow, my brain!"

"No! Why?" Donatello complained, furrowing his drawn eyebrows.

"Ah, AH-choo." Splinter sneezed feebly, snot dripping from his nose.

"Salud." (Y/N) muttered to the rat.

"Gesundheit." Leonardo said to him softly.

"Omigosh, omigosh, omigosh!" Michelangelo panicked, shaking (Y/N)'s shoulders aggressively. "Splinter's a zombie!"

"Mikey." Donnie interrupted him, grabbing him by the shoulder and pulling him away from (Y/N). "Zombies are interested in other people's brains."

"Then what is wrong with your papá?" (Y/N) asked, crossing her arms as she rose a brow, a bit confused on what's happening.

"Rat Flu." Raphael answered her question, but also alerting his brothers at the same time. "This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill, boys!"

"DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS"

"I feel terrible." Splinter groans, holding his head in pain as he looked up at his sons and the (H/C) haired woman who was fanning him with her old ripped cloak she used to wear due to how much this rat was sweating. "Do I look terrible? Be honest."

As he looked up, snot ran down his nose, bubbles fuzzing over his mouth, and weird yellowish-greenish things under his eyes. The boys jumped back from both fear and disgust, pulling (Y/N) back, who looking at the short rat man in disgust.

"Okay." Donatello gagged, placing a hand over his mouth to prevent himself from throwing up.

"You look like—" (Y/N) was cut off by Raphael's hand over her mouth, knowing she would bluntly say something offensive to their father.

"You look great, not horribly sick at all." Raphael lied, walking away from the room as he pulled (Y/N) along with him. He grabs the curtain and pulls it shut, making sure that Splinter doesn't see or hear them. "He's horribly sick."

"You don't say." (Y/N) muttered, not able to take the image of Splinter's face off her mind.

"Look, a flu this intense is going to affect all areas of his brain." Donatello explained, removing his goggles over his head as he looked back at (Y/N) and his brothers. He summons one of his tech-claws to add more finger for him to count as he explains further more. "I'm talking the full seven stages, before his body naturally heals itself."

"You guys know what the full seven stages mean?" Raphael questions his brother, making them all frown, also confusing the girl more than before. "Another chance to get whatever we want!"

"Yeah!" They cheer, causing (Y/N) to scratch her head, trying to understand what is happening.

"But poor Dad. He must feel terrible." Mikey sighed sadly, holding (Y/N)'s hand and squeezing it gently before he lifted it into the air with a smile. "But lucky us, he'll say yes to whatever we ask for! Whoo-hoo!"

"—Only if we make it all the way to the end of the flu, the elusive stage sevohn." Donatello remarked, crossing his arms in frustration. "And we never get there!"

"This year's gonna be different." Raphael chimed in, trying to cheer up his brother. "Nobody's getting bit. Nobody's getting infected."

"Now it sounds like a zombie movie..." (Y/N) mumbled, not really into the idea of turning into a brainless creature. Being around these four is enough, she thought to herself.

"When we do make it to the end, which I'm now calling the: Must Say Yes stage, what are we gonna ask for?" Leonardo asked, causing all of them to go into deep thought.

After a while, Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo all looked at their eldest brother, wondering what he had to say, making him a bit nervous and start stammering through his sentence. (Y/N) also looked at him, curious on what he would like to ask for.

"Well, this year, I was thinking we could ask for, uh, um, er—uh"

"Aww, he's got nothing. We're dead!" Leonardo whined.

Raphael looked at him a bit offended, getting defensive. "I got something, all right? Like a, uh—"

"Uranium! Oh, we should absolutely ask for uranium!" Donatello cut him off as he exclaimed his dreams. "I mean, if I could finally get my hands on a little of that, we would be virtually unstoppa—"

"What about a brick oven for pizza?" Mikey eagerly smiled, standing beside Donatello, interrupting his genius brother. "Or maybe the moon buggy—"

Leonardo then stepped between both brothers, shoving them aside with a smirk. "Who's gonna clean that? What we should ask for is matching unicorn onesies. Those are sick! Pun intended. And I nailed it."

(Y/N) stared at them, bored from all their bickering, yawning from her lack of sleep. Last night, she had to go on another mission and catch a criminal, but the guy put up a fight. Luckily she caught him, but she was still tired nevertheless.

"Why don't you get something that everyone will like?" (Y/N) suggests, placing a hand on Leonardo's shoulder.

"(Y/N) is right!" Raphael nodded in agreement, keeping his calm composure. "I'm gonna ask Splinter for something that benefits all of us!"

"I am always right." (Y/N) muttered to herself, mentally noting everything everyone wanted.

"This is so exciting!" Michelangelo grinned. "But terrible for Dad." He sighed, fog escaping from his mouth as he breathed out. Michelangelo breathed out again, making sure he saw that well, and he in fact did. More fog escaped from his breath.

"Buckle up, guys. It's about to get weird." Raphael narrowed his eyes.

"STAGE ONE: FEVER"

"I hate stage one."

Michelangelo complained, holding himself close as he shivered from the cold. "Think warm thoughts. Pizza ovens, bricks from Italy, wood chips roasting." He smiled, feeling a bit better than before, but also hinting Raphael on what he should choose which only annoyed him.

"You really want that oven, Hm?" (Y/N) questions, slowly rubbing Donatello's arm back and fourth to warm him up. He was currently on the woman's lap, his legs wrapped around her waist as he hugged her close.

Despite not being a big fan of physical touch, this was the only time he'd make an exception. He was freezing cold. (Y/N) only wrapped her ripped cloak around him as a blanket.

"Yeah." He nodded, shudder as he felt the breeze. "Ughhh, so cold."

"We're four hours in." Raphael assured his younger brother. "His fever's gotta break soon."

"I told you guys to plan ahead. Now I'm sitting here all toasty." Leonardo grinned, sipping on his hot cocoa, wearing a fuzzy coat. Although he really wanted to hold (Y/N) close to him to help her out through the freezing temperature, his twin genius brother is currently using her as a personal heater. He spit out his drink as his eyes landed on Splinter who had shaved all his fur out. "What? Wha—why?!"

"What am I even looking at?" (Y/N) once again stared in disgust. "This is worse than the worm that we met last time."

"Who?" Leonardo asked, having absolutely no idea who (Y/N) was talking about.

"Had to—" Splinter inhaled sharply, smoke emitting off him from his extreme high temperature. "—air myself out."

He flopped onto the ground, falling on his dad as more wisps of smoke rise off of him. A low growl is heard, lifting his head and screeching loudly as he began chasing his sons. (Y/N) only stood in the middle of the room with Donatello, watching Splinter chase his three other sons.

"STAGE TWO: WILD RAT MAN"

"Don't eat me! Raph's tastier!" Michelangelo yelled out as they all ran away from their rat father, putting on their hazmat suits. Meanwhile, (Y/N) was calmly putting on her own hazmat suit with Donatello next to her, looking at the other three turtle brothers being chased down.

"Suits on! Suits on!" Raphael tugged on his suit, making sure it was fully on. "Donnie, get the device ready."

"Uh, it's ready." Donatello assured them as he calmly put his suit on, standing next to (Y/N) as he rambled about it to her. "You know, my inspiration for this device was simplicity. Why dress something up with lots of bells and whistles when you can just let it speak for its—"

"No one has time for this!" Leonardo yelled out.

"Fine." Donatello sighed as he pressed a button on his gauntlet.

A large clear ball popped out of one of the pipes, hitting Leonardo and causing him to fall. (Y/N) was quick to catch him, holding him up bridal style as she asked. "Estas bien?"

"Uhhh." Leonardo was flustered as she held him in her arms. She placed him on the ground, making sure to be careful. He stood up straight, dusting his shoulders with a smirk. "Fine, I'm fine." He assured her, sending her a wink. "Gracias, querida."

"You know Spanish?" (Y/N)'s eyes widened slightly, surprised by this sudden revelation. "How much-"

"Nice." Raphael forced a grin on his face as he interrupted Leonardo's and (Y/N)'s interaction. "All right, let's get him inside." He demanded, looking back at Master Splinter as he passed a box of pizza to Leonardo.

Everyone stood around the clear plastic ball, while Leonardo held the box of pizza out to Splinter, slowly backing toward the clear sphere with Splinter approaching him, snarling. Leonardo three the pizza into the ball to which Splinter leaped into, going inside the giant ball. Donatello was quick to shove the guan plug into the entrance, keeping him inside.

"Okay, this should hold him for a while." Donatello tapped on the ball, standing on top of it.

"This feels like animal cruelty." (Y/N) pointed out.

"It's not animal cruelty if it's your father." Donatello grinned, making sure the plug shut the whole in the ball perfectly.

"Besides, he loves pizza and confined spaces you can barely breathe in." Raphael smiled, placing his hand over the young woman's shoulder.

The ball starts shaking violently as Donatello tries to hold onto he doesn't fall.

"Donnie, is it gonna hold up?" Leonardo asked, watching the ball shake.

"Most definiteLY!—" The ball began rolling, taking Donatello with it. He screamed as Splinter ran like a hamster on a wheel trying to get his pizza. The ball got an airborne, causing the ball to bounce off the walls of the lair and then bursts open, releasing Splinter, who jumps into a pipe and disappears into the dark tunnels. Donatello fell face flat on the ground; a low grunt escaping him.

"Mikey, follow me, and be careful." Raphael ordered, taking his youngest brother with him. "We can't afford to lose anyone before stage seven."

"I thought we all agreed it was now called the: Must Say Yes stage." Leonardo says a bit annoyed by the fact nobody was saying it.

"It would be easier for me to be careful if I knew you were gonna ask for a pizza oven." Mikey grinned mischievously, trying to convince his older brother to choose his idea.

"I'm. Still. Thinking!" Raphael snapped.

"Quick question, is uranium still on the table?" Donatello asked, raising his hand.

Everyone ignored him as Raphael groaned in annoyance. He and Michelangelo left to look for Master Splinter. Leonardo, (Y/N) and Donatello stayed in the main room together, waiting for Raphael and Michelangelo to come back.

(Y/N) sat next to Donatello who was currently sitting up; holding his head from the fall. (Y/N) grabbed him, making him lay down on her lap, causing his cheeks to darken at this weird but cute gesture of hers.

"You're an idiota, you know that?" (Y/N) muttered to him, making him stare at her with an unamused expression.

"It's always your type." He muttered to himself, furrowing his drawn-on eyebrows. Always the; cute but mean types.

"STAGE THREE: CAPTAIN CUDDLE CAKES"

"Ugh, these things do not breathe." Leonardo complains with a groan as he removes his hazmat suit.

"I know, right?" Donatello agreed, sitting up for a while to remove the helmet before laying back on (Y/N) lap, still in a bit of pain from the fall. "Uh, now, are we sure we're safe?"

"You can never be sure." (Y/N) replied, refusing to take her suit off. "I don't really understand why you take off the suit. What if-"

"Calm down." Leonardo waved it off, wrapping his arm around her shoulder to pull her closer, but also trying to push Donatello off her lap with his other, annoying Donatello as he tried pushing back. "We're fine. Raph and Mikey have it under control—" His sentence was cut short when both Raphael and Michelangelo ran past three of them at full speed. "oh, no."

"Stage three, Stage three!" Raphael alerts them.

"Oh, little baby blue, come to Papa!" Splinter gushed, making his way towards Leonardo specifically, with heart eyes.

"Suits on! Suits on!" Raphael ordered as the two other turtles and the (H/C) haired woman followed behind. "Why weren't you in your suits?! Not you, (Y/N), you're fine." Raphael assured, smiling at her.

"It was Leo!" Donatello tattled, putting his helmet back on.

"No one forced you to, Donnie!" Leonardo yelled as he tripped onto the ground, trying to put his hazmat suit on, but got up fully dressed. He scrunched his nose, disgusted. "Ugh, what's that smell?"

Splinter popped up inside Leonardo's suit, hugging his son tightly and kissing his cheek. "I love you this much!"

"No, no, you don't! I'm your least favorite!" Leonardo cried out, falling onto the ground.

"Uh, Leo's infected. Quarantine him."

(Y/N) threw Leonardo inside his room, zipping up a plastic wall, locking him inside.

"Hey, you need me to get to the: Must Say Yes stage! We need to ask for the onesies—" He began to feel lightheaded, slowly swaying side to side. "Whoa, it is really hot. Is there a fire? There's a fire here, right? The floor is made of lava?"

He begins sweating. He screams as (Y/N) pressed a button, making the jets inside his room spray cold blue mist on him.

"Don't worry, Leo. It'll be over soon." (Y/N) placed her hand over the plastic wall, making him place his hand over hers with a crooked smile, but sweating heavily from his fever. Yet, it felt like he quickly reached stage three of the flu as his tail began wagging the longer he stared at (Y/N).

"Down to four." Raphael muttered, making sure to count (Y/N) as well. "All right, fellas, let's be careful so the rest of us can make sure we get what we want. Who's got eyes on the package?"

"Ah!" Michelangelo gasped, pointing at a dummy covered in kisses. "I lost him."

Purple smoke was shot in front of the four, causing them to yelp in surprise. When they opened their eyes, they found Splinter wearing a full ninja suit and carrying a sword as he glared at them.

"STAGE FOUR: NINJA SUPREME"

Splinter tossed ninja stars at Raphael who blocked the attack with his Tonfas, the stars sticking into it.

"Hot soup!" Splinter shouts out, charging at all of them at the speed of light, slicing their hazmat suits into a million tiny pieces, practically disintegrating them. They turtles panicked now that they were exposed, while (Y/N) eyes sadden a bit seeing her cloak rip into more pieces than before.

"Where'd Splinter go?" Raphael questioned, looking around as his eyes landed on (Y/N) holding her cloak that was now ripped into pieces. He was about to reach out to comfort her, but the lights went off, making it hard for everyone to see.

"Guys! I think I felt him!" Michelangelo exclaimed, grabbing a small round-ish object.

Donatello's hands go up in surprise, turning to bonk Michelangelo on the head. "Hey, that is my butt!"

(Y/N) had a hard time adjusting her vision to the dark, unsure of where everyone was and only recognizing them by their voices. She can only rely on her hearing and smell for now.

A loud thud was heard, only hearing Raphael and Michelangelo yell at one another as they were wrestling. (Y/N) also heard Donatello grunt under them; crushed by Raphael's weight on top of him when he had tackled him down.

"Ow! Would everyone please stop hitting me?" Donatello complained, pulling down his goggles to see Michelangelo and Raphael wrestling. He looked around for Splinter, only to see Splinter's tail disappear into his laboratory. "Oh, not my lab!"

(Y/N) didn't know what happened next. She could only hear Raphael and Michelangelo fighting and tackling each other, thinking it was Splinter, then hear Donatello leave. She was about to sit on the floor before feeling someone tackle her onto the ground.

Michelangelo was tackling her, thinking it was his father as he pulled her hair, causing her to hiss in pain. "Take that, itchy fuzzball!"

She felt someone else tackle her and Michelangelo, a grunt escaping her lips as she was tackled onto the ground by Raphael.she was now stuck both the youngest and the oldest brothers.

Soon after, (Y/N) had both brothers kneeling on the ground with their heads lowered down, ashamed of hurting someone close to them, even if it was accidental. Worse of all: it was (Y/N) who they had hurt.

They all tilt their heads up, a loud crash echoed throughout the lair from above. Donatello leaped down between his brothers, holding his arm which was now bandaged.

"Donnie, you hit?" Raphael asked, worried for his brother's safety.

"No, no, I'm fine. I just cut myself on that janky old door." He quickly spoke, avoiding everyone's gaze. "Everything's okay. Raph, did you decide what we're gonna ask for?"

"Yeah, I got it. I'm gonna ask for—" Raphael was interrupted by someone clearing their throat. Splinter had landed a few feet away from them, now wearing their robe as he held a microphone on his hand. He began to sing.

"I'm~"

"STAGE FIVE: KARAOKE LOVE SONGS"

"I can't feel my ears! Nothing is worth this!" Michelangelo cried, covering his ears from Splinter's singing.

"We're so close!" Raphael yelled through the singing so his brother could hear him. "Only two stages left!"

"And three totally healthy turtles left." Donnie spoke up, holding his head as his nose dripped with snot and sweating immensely. "Man, why is it so hot in here?!"

Raphael, Michelangelo, and (Y/N) all glanced at each other, already knowing what to do.

"Oh, you're gonna get squat from Splinter without Donnie! not without ol' Donnie!" Donatello smiled maniacally, beating on the plastic that refrained him from coming out his room. "I'm the brains behind this operation! AH-chooie."

"Salud." (Y/N) muttered to the soft-shelled turtle.

"Uh, what stage are we on now?" Michelangelo asked.

"STAGE SIX: FANFICTION"
(All of us rn.)

"Okay, okay, okay. Listen, listen, listen." Splinter speaks as he sets his action figure of Lou Jitsu on table. "Okay, we open on noodle shop. It's raining. Lou Jitsu— hot soups, two assassins!" He acts out his imaginary fighting scene. "Then; wham! Interdimensional doorway opens, and out walks—dun-dun-duh!" Splinter up with an astronaut helmet on head. "Jupiter Jim, and we smash to titles!"

"This is amazing. Keep going!" Michelangelo wrote everything down in his clipboard.

"We're almost at stage seven. This is the closest I've been to success, uh, ever!" Raphael smiled, reaching his hand out for a high three.

(Y/N) put down to fingers to give him a high three as Michelangelo also reached out for one, but as he was about to celebrate, he sneezed. (Y/N) and Raphael both backed away from the box turtle, glancing at each other as they lost another comrade.

"We're done." Michelangelo cried, leaning against the plastic wall that kept him inside his room. "Raph is totally gonna blow this! He has no idea what to ask for, which means— Getting hot...It's like I'm on the sun here!" Michelangelo hopped around as blue disinfectant sprayed him as (Y/N) pressed a button.

"I'm not gonna blow this." Raphael chuckled.

"Raphael, I love you, my brother, but you do tend to fail in big moments." Leonardo points up, his face squished against the plastic wall. "Pish-posh. But that's what makes you, you. Now bring it in, buddy! I'm gonna hug you till a smile comes out." He exclaimed, hugging himself as he smiled at them.

"No. I'm good." (Y/N) turned away from him, rolling her eyes.

"Come on, amor, you know you want to." Leonardo said with a lovesick grin

"Enough! Raph's got this, 'cause in big time moments, leaders make big time shots, and I'm big time!" Raphael grinned, speaking in third person once more.

"He must say yes. Make him say yesssssah!" Donatello hissed.

"Enough! Don't mess this up, Raph. Don't mess this up." Raphael encouraged himself. (Y/N) only placed a hand over his shoulder, trying her best to encourage him as well. Raphael blushed lightly at the small gesture, smiling at her. He noticed her ripped cloak, immediately feeling guilty about it, feeling like it was his fault.

"Don't forget we only get to ask for one thing, my little Raph-a-doodle!" Leonardo grinned, using a cute high pitched voice with the nickname he gave his eldest brother.

(Y/N) lets out an airy chuckle from the nickname, looking away from the brother so she can return to her calm and collected self. Raphael glanced at her, looking to see her cloak all ripped up because of Splinter. His face lit up as he got an idea. "I know exactly what I'm asking for!"

"STAGE SEVEN: MUST SAY YES"

Raphael faced off his father, narrowing his eyes to Splinter who only sniffled and stared at his son with a bored look on his face. Raphael was determined, standing tall wi the his chin up.

"Master Splinter, I know you'll say yes to whatever I ask for." Raphael spoke in a low voice. "I want you to give—"

"—Raph-a-doodle a hug!" Leonardo yelled out, cutting through the plastic wall with his sword, dashing towards them as he now stood between them. "Everybody loves hugs!" He grinned, running over to (Y/N) for an embrace to which she tried running away from.

"What? No! Anything but that!" Raphael panicked, watching Splinter run towards him with a smile.

Raphael was too late as Splinter leaped on top of him, smooching his cheek. Raphael sneezed, looking over to (Y/N) to see Leonardo hugging her and kissing her neck to which (Y/N) found rather weird, but didn't push away.

"Ooh, flu!" Splinter laughed, getting up. "Papa wants a new bike!"
