five, library.
" She felt that bug, that stupid little bug. "
It had taken a week for Addilyn to not ignore James Potter, finding him constantly stalking her as she paraded the library. Now tagging along with her in the prefect night runs, huddling with the girl at every moment he could finding her an easy soul to cling onto.
The silence between the two ( more specifically from Addilyn's side ) was broken off by the time James had finished talking about quidditch for the 8th time, Addilyn finally having enough as she cracked slamming her book down on the table with brute force that could force any living thing awake, inanimate or not. "Enough, stop this now potter." She screeched, hearing the warning shush's from around as finally she settled into her seat pure embarrassment wiping over her face.
James smirked for a second, that dam James Potter smirk. He whipped it off as quickly as it came, casting the charm on the two which silenced them from anyone around them. "Finally spoken up princess."
"Will you shut it." She halted out, the naive and unnatural pet names already riding their way up the list on things she hated in this world. "Please, Potter, what do you want from me." He simply smiled at that again, not a smirk, but a grin, a toothy one at that.
"I want to give you the best year of your life, Addilyn, and I know just how to start it." With a sudden flick the charm had worn off, as James stood up hovering over the girl with glory. She sat there for a moment, watching James' gaze as it fell down. From the girl to his hand, she looked at it to. Becoming her to grab it. With a sudden waying of options she chose, her hand sliding into his with great intensity as his smile grew wider into a toothy grin. "Addilyn Roase, you have just made the best decision of your life."
In an instant she was thrown up, dragged along to the back of the library and pushed behind a stack of shelves which threw itself far back in the left corner of the dark library. She began to realise where she might have gone wrong, about to open her mouth before James slid his index finger over her lips. "Shhh." He hushed, as her face screwed into an annoyed one that made her disgust grow for him slightly. Yet as he inched closer, lips next to her ear that disgust began to dissolve, his hot breath on her neck. "Watch this." He whispered, before turning around leaving a hot Addilyn to stand for a minute insolent.
He began to climb some way up the bookshelf, knocking a book or two which Addilyn swiftly grabbed now pondering on the chaos he was about to create. He had finally reached the top, staring down at the girl who stood almost as if a bug upon the stale, cold earth. The power he had softly grazed Addilyn's gaze, as he gave her a nice smirk and tipped away his good bye as he signalled a swift salute over to the girl.
She stood, for a second, as he must of jumped away. Now wondering what in the living hell he was doing, she had only now grasped onto the idea that he too wanted Addilyn to follow. For her to follow him into the unknown, this now being a test to see what she would actually do. As the innocent, vindictive, oxymoron of a girl, her smart deminer diminished, now fumbling to climb up, slipping every sudden or not to which she would huff slightly. It was a miracle that she made it to the top, now seeing as to why James must've felt so high a might once he was on top. It truly was a sight for sore eyes, candles scattered floating, unknown, dusty books upon the top which must have been there for thousands of years as they gathered dust bunnies. She had finally reacted to what she saw finally, where James was, a single candle lay dim, his wand alite which also sat in the middle. A soft hue gathered on her cheeks, a blanket scattered over the dust, miles of books stacked around covering them from seeing Madam Pince. It was a soft, scenic, hang out, their soft scenic hang out.
It took her a second to jump across, finally making it only slightly dodging the sight of another student below. Her whole body felt exhilarated by the pure second she was in the air, adrenaline running through her bloodstream she couldn't help but smile a childish grin.
"Took you some time." James kidded, leaning back against the wall as it supported his back just slightly. She smiled, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Shut up." She finally took her spot on the mat, checking for dust on the blanket she found there was none.
"What did you bring me up here for, Potter?" She asked, staring intensely at the boy who still looked childish as ever despite the fact that they were both sixteen.
"I want to create a new safe space for our friendship, declare it a hangout."
"Why in the library?"
"It's quiet"
"Touche."
James, once again, smile grew, if even possible, as he became relieved over the fact that he had made her speechless. They sat for a second, awkward silence filling the air as silent page flicking was heard from the 'ants' below. "Potter," Addilyn broke the silence, James humming in response to his name. "If we are going to continue this friendship we must set some rules."
His smile grew, 'she was really accepting this'. "What rules, princess?"
"No more nicknames, and no telling anyone."
"My lips are sealed."
"Also, No getting me in trouble, I don't want constant attention from all the detentions you may cause. I am not you, and your little gaggle of children."
"Hurt, Juliet, but if we must, my only rule is that I give you the best year of your life." It took a second for Addilyn to recorpirate, should she even try to point out the petty nickname or should she just let it slide past. She continued to think, not accepting the idea that she might agree.
"Deal, Potter, but nothing too extreme."
"I would never, now are you ready to do this."
"Ready to do wh-" In a matter of second, James had used his wand to fling the side wall of books out. All scattering over the floors, random sounds of baging heard as the books reached the hard ground. He reached out to grab Addilyn's hand, the girl still trying to wrap her head around what had just happened, yet she wasn't allowed to. James quickly stood up and began running, even without Addilyn trying to run he still was able to drag her. The girl finally giving in and deciding to jump onto Potters back about a bookcase or two in. He quickly accelerated, now wrapping his arms around her legs bringing her closer as the girl whistled and cheered in his ear. It was as if in that moment nothing mattered, the fact that they were in a library did not matter, the fact that they were still complete strangers didn't matter, the fact that James had no idea what was going on at home for Addilyn Rose didn't matter. What mattered was the fact that they were friends, what mattered was the fact that they were happy, what mattered is the fact that as James clamped onto her harder a wistful bug seeped into his stomach, fluttering silently in there. And what mattered even more, is the fact that Addilyn too felt the same bug. That she could undersiable not mistake for the fact that she too was excited, excited for whatever James had in store.
