Past Flings

GENEVIEVE HAS FINALLY SETTLED IN. The last thing that she needed to do was hung up the portrait of her and her brother and her solo portrait, they asked Esme if they could hang their portraits with the other portraits of the Cullens in the hall, and she instantly agreed.

"Who painted this? It's amazing. It's very well detailed," Esme asks as she traces her fingers at the frame of the painting. Greyson joined them as he observed their portrait.

"Do tell her, Genevieve, it's quite the story," Greyson smirks. The others joined them as they, too, were interested.

"It was the year 1885 when this portrait was painted by one of the most famous Filipino painter Juan Luna," she says with a smirk.

"Listen carefully. This is a good story," Greyson says to them.

"Let's hear this story in the Living room, shall we?" Carlisle asks Genevieve, and she nods. They settled in the living room and got comfortable, and Jasper wrapped his arm around Genevieve's waist as she was getting ready to tell them a story.

"Greyson and I went through a traveling faze. We decided to travel to the Philippines at the time, and the Spaniards colonized the Philippines. It only ended in 1898, I think? We didn't stay there for that long. We only stayed for a year because of Greyson's stupidity," Genevieve says as she glared at her brother.

"Why? What happened?" Alice asks, interested in what her mate has done in the past.

"Let me start from the very beginning. In the year 1885, we traveled to the Philippines because the country was colonized by the Spaniards since 1521? I'm not sure, really sure. We wanted to see it happen for ourselves because we know that it will be a historical event, and we want to witness it."

"Isn't the Philippines a tropical country? So it's always sunny? How did you manage to hide?" Rosalie asks them curiously.

"Well, we are pretty well covered because of the clothes, and it goes well with an umbrella. We only go out when the sun sets or at night to hunt," Genevieve says to them.

"And you hunt humans back then? Didn't they question the red eyes?" Carlisle asks them.

"They did, but we reasoned with them that we have a rare kind of medical condition. Since we were twins, they believed us easily," Greyson laughs lowly while shaking his head.

"Some believed we were demons, mostly the elderly humans because of the red eyes. The Filipinos have many supernatural beliefs," Genevieve says with a soft laugh.

"Come on, get on with the story. I want to know what Greyson did," Emmett gave Greyson a teasing smile while Greyson rolled his eyes and scoffed.

"When we arrived, we were greeted by a wealthy family, and they invited us to stay with them, the Luna's. We stayed with them for a year, I became friends with Juan Luna, and he gladly did our portraits, mostly me. He liked painting me since I was a great model. He said that I didn't move much, and it was easier for him to finish and paint me because, you know, I didn't actually need to blink and breathe, so I stayed with him for hours. I think he did about five portraits of me? I'm not really sure," Genevieve tells them.

"Stop stalling, Gen. Tell them the love triangle that you did," Greyson says while eyeing Jasper. Jasper looks at his mate with a raised eyebrow.

"Fine," she said while rolling her eyes, "-his brother Antonio fancied me. He was the youngest of the Luna siblings. I, of course, disapprove of vampire and human relationships. It was too risky. They are very well-known, then another man came into the picture. He visited at the time rumors spread easily, he heard of the "Goddess-like twins," and he too grew an infatuation with me," Genevieve says while Jasper's hold on her waist tightened, he was beginning to get jealous,"-his name is Jose Rizal, quite the ladies man."

"How did you communicate with them? Isn't there some sort of language barrier," Carlisle asks them.

"We stayed with the wealthiest family. They are very well educated. They're fluent in English," Greyson says.

"As I was saying, two men grew a liking-" Genevieve was suddenly interrupted by Greyson, "-liking? They loved you" Genevieve rolled her eyes and scoffed "-fine, they loved me, I know it was wrong, but I was very bored. We always stayed at the mansion all the time since we couldn't go outside for too long because it was always sunny, so I took advantage of their company and played with their feelings," Genevieve said while looking at Jasper and giving him a soft smile, Jasper just shakes his head.

"She was practically showered with gifts, Antonio always gave her jewelry and clothes with expensive silk fabrics, and Jose he was a writer. He wrote her poems every day and made a separate copy, and turned it into a book, but it was never published. It was made just for her." Greyson smirks as he leans down the sofa while he wraps an arm around Alice. Alice leans to his chest.

"I knew that their names would grow in time because they are very talented, smart, and they have their priorities set straight. They had a goal to make a change in their country, so I never did anything. I let them be, but then my mistake was I never stopped them, and I continued to play with them. They proposed to me on the same day, I was very surprised since I have only known them for four or five months, and I never admitted that I loved them," she sighs while she lowers her head down her and massages her temple.

"Now that I think of it, I was such an ass, and I shouldn't have done that," She sighs again, "-then Greyson, who did the stupidest thing, flirted with a soldier's wife that led us to our departure."

"At least I didn't lead people on," he smirks.

"You flirted with a high-ranked soldier's wife, and he caught you, which was the cause of your," she quotes the words with her fingers, "assassination."

"You were assassinated?" Emmett asks with a booming laugh while he repeatedly pats his knees. Alice looks at his mate with disbelief and amusement at the same time.

"I was walking in the street one night, Genevieve and I separated ways because we were actually looking for people to feed on. They shot me six times, it was the husband and four other armed soldiers with him, and they were getting suspicious as to why I wasn't dead yet. I couldn't expose myself since they are other humans in the street, so I pretended to fall and die, they checked my pulse, and I had none, and I was ice cold, so they left me in the street. Genevieve heard the gunshots and found me. The news spread quickly that I was dead, so we needed to leave immediately. She gathered our things, mostly the paintings, since it was special to her, and said her farewells," Greyson says.

"I continued my friendship with Juan, Jose wanted to follow me, but I declined again. We wrote letters to one another. They told me about their achievements. Antonio became part of the Military, and he rose through the ranks and became a General. Juan became a very well-known painter. Jose published his first novel Noli Me Tangere. He actually sent me an original translated copy in secret since the novel is a work that detailed the dark aspects of Spain's colonial rule in the Philippines," Genevieve tells them with a proud look on her face.

"Wow, you were fancied and friends with humans that are in textbooks right now," Emmett says to them.

"We told you that we participated in many historical events," Greyson says with a smirk.

"What happened to them?" Rosalie asks her. She was engrossed with the twins' story.

"The last news I read from them is a letter from their families. Antonio was assassinated. The rumors were that the President, the first President of the Philippines, verbally ordered another General to assassinate Antonio. Jose was convicted of sedition and sentenced to death by a firing squad. He was publicity executed, but he remains a nationalist icon in the Philippines for helping the country take its first steps toward independence while Juan died because of a heart attack," Genevieve says to them.

"So you're into General's," Emmett points out with a teasing smile while wiggling his eyebrows and looking at Jasper.

"Antonio wasn't a General when he fancied me. He was studying at the time," Genevieve says while crossing her arms.

"Still, a General and a National Hero loved you," Rosalie smirks at her.

"It wasn't a situation I was proud of, but I'm glad I met them," Genevieve says while intertwining her hand with Jasper's and giving him a peck on the lips.

"So, are there any other famous humans that fancied you, you mind telling me about?" Jasper asks her with a smirk.

"None that I can think about right now, but if I remember, I'll tell you," Genevieve says with a laugh.

The others just continued the things they were supposed to be doing before Genevieve told them one of their stories.

Then Jasper suddenly carries her bridal style and walks towards their room. Genevieve's laugh echoes in the house, and Jasper couldn't help but smile widely.

He likes seeing his mate laugh and be happy, and he still couldn't believe that after so many decades he had finally found her, that somebody chose him for the first time in his life out of love and she would always choose him as he would always choose her.
For Eternity.
