Kathleen listened as Mike discussed everything that had occurred over the past few days as she sat on the ground with her back against the fountain and her head resting on Robin's leg. While mumbling under the pain in her leg, Robin stroked a finger over her long, golden/blue hair. She wasn't completely sure what was happening. but was prepared to fight whatever it took to protect her new friends and family. She couldn't think of anything else but the mind flyer and how it was melting individuals to enlarge itself.

"That's both horribly harsh and incredibly fascinating." The idea of being a part of that creature made Kathleen feel all kinds of sick.

As people began to disperse, and did their own thing. Before leaving to go get supper for the two of them, Robin gripped her hand once. Kathleen sat by herself and collected her thoughts as she was now by herself. With a first aid kit, Joyce Byers approached her, asking her something to which Kathleen nodded, "May I" before allowing her space as they sat on the floor together.

As Joyce began cleaning it, she extended her leg. "You know, I recall when your father and your uncle were students." As Joyce broke the silence, she brought up. Kathleen in surprise lifted her head.

''You knew them?'' she inquired. Joyce glanced up at her with a little smile and nodded.

"Mm, your father was very well what Steve was back in the day, every girl liked him but there was one girl he would only ever be interested in and that would be your mother" She spoke while pouring something upon her leg, somewhat hissing, but she was more interested in the tale.

''Was my mother as kind as my father would say?" She questioned.

Joyce wiped her leg's now-drying blood. '' I never met her, but from what I've seen and heard about her, you're practically just like her.'' Although Kathleen had seen pictures of her mom and heard tales from her father, hearing it from a different source warmed her heart.

''What was her uncle like '' Robin asked as she gave Kathleen a drink while she sat back on the fountain. She gave the girl a big smile.

''All I can say about that man is trouble. The way he treated his own wife and child, he deserved to be in prison.'' Joyce murmured. as she began to encircle her leg with the bandage.

In response, Kathleen nodded. They have a gun in case he shows up looking for Eddie, which is another good reason for having one. "All right, my sweetheart, that's all done.'' Joyce exclaimed, as she began to pack the first aid kit.

Kathleen responded gratefully, "Thank you," as the elder woman grinned. Kathleen and Robin were once again left alone when she left.

Kathleen went back to Robin's leg to rest her head. '' If all of this transpires and we are successful, might it maybe lead to us becoming girlfriends?'' Robin questioned, her confidence tingling with a pang of anxiety.

Kathleen contemplated it. She felt a rush of excitement at the prospect of them becoming officially dating. But as time went on, she began to consider all the terrible things that may transpire if the wrong people learned about them. Is it really worth it if she and Robin wind up getting hurt?

But then they would be the only two there. and for Kathleen, Robin is everything worth fighting for, Robin felt free to take down her wall and open up to the girl. Both of them shared the same advantages as well as the same anxieties.

''If we make it out of here alive, I would definitely like that.'' Robin sank down to the ground, encircling her in her arms. Kathleen leaning against her as the two were at last at ease.

Steve turned to face them. His face slowly began to smile. expressing that he was content with his current situation and that perhaps love wasn't for him. He was just looking in the wrong place, but seeing them together made him want to really believe that he could find love.

''Kathleen, Robin let's go.'' Dustin shouted. He was swiftly glanced at by both girls in irritation for interfering with their moment, but they continued on. There was an automobile at the entry of the mall that would likely fulfill any boy's fantasy.

''Oh,man, now this.. this is what I'm talking about!'' Steve applauded. Kathleen cast him an odd glance.

"Toddfather?" Robin questioned, as she peered at the registration plate.

"Oh, screw Todd! Steve's her daddy now.'' Steve murmured, staring at the car as if he were falling in love with it.

''Did you just talk about yourself in third person?" Robin inquired as she sprang into the passenger seat, Dustin assisted Kathleen as she climbed into the back.

''Did he just call himself daddy?'' Erica questioned.

"Eww." she said. Robin snorted a little at Kathleen's comment.

Ignoring them all. Steve turned on the vehicle.' "All right, where are we going?'' He questioned Dustin who was seated behind him.

'' Weathertop.'' Dustin replied.

''Weather-what?'' Steve asked a little confused, Kathleen rolled her eyes knowing they had no time for this.

''Just stop talking and tread on it'' she said. Dustin and she both urged him to. Kathleen inhaled deeply as Steve immediately accelerated into motion and began to move through the parking lot and away from the mall. recognizing that their return would be quite the journey.

Kathleen regarded the night sky in the air, just as Eddie did. Both of the teenagers wondered about many things, Eddie questioned the whereabouts of his cousin, and Kathleen pondered whether this was her last night on earth. However, they both secretly believed that they wouldn't survive tonight in separate ways.

''Jesus, how far is this place, man?'' Steve groused about how they seemed to be traveling in circles.

''Relax, we're almost there.'' stated Dustin. while keeping a forward-facing gaze on the road.

''Suzie must be pretty special, huh?" Robin questioned, but Kathleen caught her eye. giving Kathleen the impression that she is unique to her. " I mean, if you built this thing and lugged it all the way to the middle of nowhere just to talk to her?" Robin added.

"I mean, nobody's scientifically perfect, but Suzie's about as closet being perfect as any human could possibly be." based on Dustin's remarks about her and his smile. Her heart warmed at the sight of others experiencing love.

Being the sweet kid and helpful friend that she was, Erica decided to participate in the conversation. "She sound made-up to me. She sound made-up to you?" She questioned the group.

Steve, who was hushed up and only looked ahead, was the center of attention at this point. "Why are you hesitating, Steve?" Dustin questioned, clearly quite irritated.

"I'mโ€” I'mโ€” I'm not! I'm not! I think she sounds real. You know, totally, absolutely real." He didn't sound particularly convincing, at least not to Kathleen.

The mountain diverted Dustin's attention. "Left! Turn Left!" commanded Dustin.

"There's not a road here." Steve shouted. Kathleen tried to see over his shoulder.

''Turn left now!'' Dustin screamed. Steve rolled his eyes as he jerkily turned up the mountain. Kathleen grabbed on firmly as her fear of dying suddenly grew since she was unprepared for this. Steve struck a fence head-on while driving. making her believe she was with lunatics

''Whoa! Henderson, where are we going?" Steve yelled.

''We're not gonna make it!'' Robin exclaimed. Steve was still not giving up, so he continued to press forwards with renewed confidence as the automobile moved forwards, only for it to splutter and stop moving forwards altogether "Guess the Toddfather has its limitations.''

As she realized how absurd everything felt, Kathleen began to laugh. They were all aware that they would have to continue walking. As he began to establish touch with the grownups, Dustin led them all the way up the mountain.

Kathleen could see all about Hawkins while they played around with the radio. The place where she was born and reared was progressively deteriorating even as it was becoming better each year. At the start of the year, the mall was luminous and cheery. She hated it wholeheartedly and didn't want anything to do with it.

She was grateful she had entered as she glanced at it now. She discovered a new friend, a new family member, and someone she was madly in love with. As they were attempting to converse with one another, she turned her attention to the group. She had a chance to be joyful for once in her life at this moment.

Kathleen turned to face them as Dustin spoke into the radio. kinda feeling awful about the nickname.

Murray retorted, clearly irritated.

" Dustin asked.

Murray laughed in return and then continued. '' ๐˜‰๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ฅ ๐˜Œ๐˜ข๐˜จ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ.'' he muttered, growing increasingly irate.

20?" Dustin grinned .Kathleen smiled as she went back to keep an eye on Hawkins.

Katherine had a feeling that Murray hoped he didn't have to respond.

" They were all a little proud of what he had accomplished when he put the communicator down, and Steve grinned at him.

Kathleen was gazing off into the distance when Robin turned to face her. She approached the girl, a little perplexed. "What is it?" she inquired. Steve followed her as he was now looking at the mall.

When Steve yelled out to them, the others immediately rushed over to see what was happening. Kathleen observed the mall's lights quickly turned on and off. "We need to go back," Kathleen remarked as she turned to face Steve and Robin.

Dustin was trying to talk to each other as they all rushed over to the radio, there were only hissing noises as Dustin repeated himself over and over Before a monster roar was blasted into the radio. This caused Kathleen to cringe.

The Griswold family was in threat, whatever was going on at the mall was going to rip them apart, and all across the town, the bright lights glowed in her eyes as she made her point tonight. For everyone, she was prepared to die.
