Chapter 9: Falling
You tried to take your mind off Jimin.
You tried so hard.
But, seeing as he was seated next to you didn't make it any easier. He tried giving you contact, any type of contact to show you that he wasn't done talking to you.
Sometimes brushing his hand against yours which would awaken something inside you.
You still had feelings for him, you still liked him, whether you wanted to admit it or not, you did.
Jimin's actions didn't go unnoticed by Taehyung.
He saw everything - from Jimin's hand touching yours to leaning in closer to you to "copy" your notes. His jaw clenched as he fumed with anger.
This isn't part of the plan.
Jimin better learn his place or else...
The bell rang suddenly and everyone packed their belongings into their bags, rushing out the door with the promise of the weekends arrival coming with sound of the bell.
You followed in pursuit, walking out of the school alongside Tzuyu, before you waved bye as you parted ways.
Taehyung jogged to catch up with you, causing Jimin to curse under his breath as Taehyung had reached you first.
But that didn't stop him from following you.
Of course he kept a safe distance though, so neither of you would be able to suspect that he was following you. Taehyung conversed with you about the biology homework as he mentioned to you that he couldn't understand the punnett squares.
You laugh and Jimin felt his heart skip a beat. He loved it when you laughed, because it was contagious.
And soon enough, Jimin had found himself smiling because of you.
But as his gaze shifted to Taehyung standing next to you, being the reason for you laughing, his smile falters.
He wanted to tell you, he wanted to tell you everything. But he was scared to do so, because the consequences wouldn't be pleasant.
Jimin hid behind a tree as the two of you stopped in front of your house, waiting for Taehyung to leave.
Eventually, he did.
After you had kissed his cheek as Jimin let out an inaudible gasp.
I deserve it. I deserve it for kissing Hyerim, thinking she was Y/N.
Jimin sighed as he dragged his feet across the pavement of the path through the park. He wanted to talk to you, explain everything, but he couldn't.
He missed you, he really did, but he would deny his feelings. He wasn't used to feeling this way. He couldn't talk to you anyways, because you clearly weren't interested in talking to him.
. . .
"Y/N!" Your Mum called from down in the kitchen, "Come here please!"
You drag your feet out of your bed, down the stairs and to your Mum who was leaning against the countertop, a serious look resting on her face.
She slowly pryed her eyes towards you before saying in an ominous voice, "We don't have the main ingredients."
And so, that is how you had ended up at supermarket at 8 p.m.
"Thank you," you bow slightly to the worker, grabbing the bag of ingredients for your Mum's cooking as you step outside.
The sun had set completely, allowing the moon to be the source of light. Stars hung in the black abyss, supporting the moon in giving light in to the dark world as it slept.
You hum a random song to yourself as you continue your journey back home. Walking through the park, the warm night breeze gently nipped at your exposed skin, raking through your hair and the branches of the trees looming overhead.
You sigh in content as the night sky washes away any worries you had in you. But it also brought back Jimin into your thoughts.
He seemed desperate to talk to you.
Even as you mentioned the kiss he shared with another, he seemed guilty, as if something was weighing down on him.
But he couldn't tell you.
Hearing voices coming from nearby, you snap out of your thoughts, your eyes drifting to the owners of the voices.
A guy and a girl.
Specifically, Jimin and the girl he had kissed on Monday.
A gasp left your parted lips.
Were they actually boyfriend and girlfriend?
What was the deal with her?
Why is she always yelling at him everytime I walk by?
Questions invaded your mind as you try to walk by without either of them noticing you. And while doing so, you manage to capture a bit of their conversation.
"Jimin, I can't have you doing this anymore. Why do you hang around me when all you can think about is her?" The girl asked, desperate for an answer, "She's on your mind all the time, even when you kissed me, you were only thinking about her."
You were shocked.
They're not in a relationship?
He likes someone else?
Somehow, the thought of them not being in a relationship had slightly elated your mood. Only slightly though, as he liked someone else.
It isn't me.
"You know why I'm doing this. Stop acting oblivious, you asked for this in the first place. You made a pact with him, and you're playing you're part. Don't drag me down to make me look like the villian. It's you, you and I both know that," Jimin spoke up.
He glanced up absent-mindedly towards your figure, and you pick up the pace, almost running at this point.
He noticed you.
You know he did from the way his gaze had softened as they landed on you.
Your house came into view and you smiled, knowing you were gonna be safe in your house.
Jimin wouldn't come after you.
Man, were you wrong.
A grip on your forearm forced you to stop, being pulled back as you turn around, only to meet his chest.
The impact had caused the both of you to lose footing, and you fell. Jimin's back hit the ground as you landed on top of him.
He groaned slightly, before speaking up in a raspy voice, "Are you okay?"
Your eyes that were shut, opened up as you stare into his dark orbs. It wasn't until now that you had noticed your faces were merely inches apart.
His breath fanned your lips, warming them.
And you lost yourself in his eyes that glistened in the moonlight.
Butterflies awakened in the pit of your stomach, your body heating up. He gazed at you softly, enjoying the fact that you were so close to him right now and that he wasn't around to pull the two of you apart.
You could've sworn that tears were brimming in his eyes. And he wanted to cry, because he missed you. The days spent with you ignoring him were torture. He didn't know how he had survived.
So, the two of you lay there, you on top of Jimin, in the moonlight, just staring at one another after days of no contact.
You were the first to break out of the trance as you rushed to stand up, brushing your clothes and making sure none of the ingredients in the bag were mushed otherwise your Mum would kill you.
"Are you okay?" Jimin repeats as he stands up and you realized you had never answered the question the first time.
"Uh, yeah. Yeah, I'm fine," you mutter, avoiding eye contact.
After a few heartbeats of silence, Jimin speaks up, "Y/N, about today, I-I just want to tell you, you've got it all wrong. The girl, Hyerim, she's not my girlfriend. I don't know why she kissed me that day, and I don't why I kissed her. I'm being honest with you when I say that I wasn't thinking that I was kissing her. I was imagine her to be someone else. I-I like someone else. Someone I've grown to care for a lot ever since I came to this school. Someone I had grown close to, until she started ignoring me for the past few days. And I never got to the chance to explain myself. You see, someone is setting all this up. They made this pla-"
"Y/N? Jimin?" A voice boomed from behind Jimin, cutting him off before he could finish his sentence.
"Taehyung," you breathe out as he walks closer to you, pulling you away from Jimin who looked hurt at the fact you didn't do anything to stay next to him, close to him.
"He didn't do anything to you, did he?" Taehyung asked you worriedly.
"No," you tear your eyes away from Jimin only for them to return back on to him, "W-We were just talking."
Taehyung glared at Jimin, but you hadn't noticed that, "I think Jimin should be heading home now."
"Goodnight, Jimin," you mutter, the corners of your lips curving up into a small smile as you step away from Taehyung.
He smiled back at you, warily glancing at the orange-head standing next to you who was burning holes in Jimin's face, before turning around and walking away.
"Goodnight, Taehyung," you say, waving at him as you walk into your house.
Jimin was afraid now.
Afraid of what he'll do to him and you. You were never supposed to mean this much to him in just a span of a mere few weeks.
But, he had fallen hard.
And he knew he'll face the consequences soon.
. . .
