flash forward pt. 1

"Liam!" I called, frantically rushing around the house making sure everything was in check.

After we had finished school, we had moved back to Beacon Hills together. We had found a small starter home, and had spent a year fixing up it. Safe to say we loved it.

Liam appeared around the corner, watching me with expectant eyes. "Yes?"

I let our a huff, brushing my hair from my face. "Did you vacuum the living room?" I questioned.

A small grin came to his face. "You mean the room you asked me to vacuum ten different times?"

I nodded slowly, "That would be the one."

Liam let out a small laugh as he approached me, "Of course I did."

"Good." I muttered, turning from him to look around and find what else needed to be clean.

"Syd." he breathed, reaching out to pull me so I was facing him. "Why are you freaking out?" he asked, his voice soft. "They've been here a million times already."

"I know." I sighed, raking a hand through my hair. "I just want everything to be perfect today."

Liam smiled, running his hand down my arm until he gripped onto my own hand. His fingers gently glided over the ring that sat on my left hand. "It will be."

Today was the day we were telling the pack that we were engaged.

It had happened a few days ago. Liam and I were out by the cliff that overlooked the city when he had dropped to one knee and asked me the question I had been yearning to hear.

I said yes without hesitation, and for the last few days we had been taking it in, just the two of us. We spent a lot of time laying in bed together, me often lifting my hand to admire the beautiful ring that sat on my finger. It seemed like nothing else mattered to us at the time besides each other.

But now, I wanted to let everyone in on the secret. Aside from my parents, my brother and Mason, no one knew. So today we were having everyone over for dinner and games to let them in on the news.

Noise on the front porch caused me to jump slightly. I spun from Liam, moving to look out the window. "Scott and Malia are here." I announced, watching as the two made their way to the front door.

"Relax." Liam breathed, pressing a soft kiss to my lips. I smiled, leaning into him. I was so grateful this is who I got to spend the rest of my life with.

Everyone had arrived eventually, and it didn't take long for Lydia to spot the ring on my finger. Her eyes had grown wide as I lifted my hand, showing everyone our big announcement.

Stiles had been oblivious at first, too focused on the chips he was eating. But when Lydia let out squeal he almost fell from his seat on the couch, subsequently choking on the chips that were in his mouth.

I watched him quizzically, trying to hold in a laugh as he struggled for breath.

"Stiles, are you-"

"He'll be fine." Lydia assured as she stepped over his legs, making her way toward me.

Malia let out an excited cheer as she and Lydia pulled me into a hug, whereas my brother sat in silence, a knowing smile on his face.

Liam had told me that Scott knew before anyone else-even Mason. Liam had asked for Scott's blessing, along with my parents' of course. But truth be told, Scott's blessing was what I cared about most. I thought back to the day that he had warned me to be cautious around Liam. I was so thankful I didn't listen to him.

---

"I always knew you two were meant to be together." my brother smiled softly, a look of reminiscing in his eyes.

The two of us sat by the kitchen island, broken off from the rest of the group who were in loud conversation in the living room.

Scott was never one to comment much on mine and Liam's relationship, he always seemed rather impartial, as long as we were both happy. But now, as he spoke I could tell he had secretly been rooting for us all along.

"I knew they were meant to be!" Stiles corrected, interrupting the conversation as he slid into the seat beside me.

I rolled my eyes at him before a large smile covered my face. "Did you now?"

Stiles nodded as if it were obvious, "Uh-yeah. Who do you think set you up?" he questioned before pointing to himself.

I shook my head, letting out a laugh. "Stiles, you did not set us up!" I argued, which resulted in him narrowing his eyes at me. We had this argument constantly- him always trying to take all the credit.

"Remember our little car ride to the hospital that first day we met Liam?" he reminded, "Who introduced you to one another."

I let out another laugh, "We were sitting in the same car, I don't think we needed any introducing...we were bound to put two and two together eventually."

Stiles put his hands up in defence. "Well, I sped up the process then."

I placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, "Sure, Stiles. You were our matchmaker, I will be forever grateful."

He grinned as he raised his brows, "So does that mean I get to be in the wedding?"

"You can be the flower girl." I grinned, shooting him a quick wink.

Stiles glared at me, "You say it as a joke, but we all know I would be an amazing flower girl." he muttered, narrowing his eyes at me once more before turning back toward the living room, his attention now shifted to Liam. "Speaking of the wedding...are we all just going to pretend that Liam didn't ask me before he proposed?"

Scott and I shared a quick look as Stiles slid out of the seat, "Liam, buddy!" Stiles called, making way for my fiance. "We need to have a chat about the fact that you neglected to ask for my blessing."

Liam looked over to me with wide eyes, afraid he was about to face Stiles' wrath. I let out a small laugh, giving him a quick wink.

Once Stiles was gone, I turned back to my older brother, the goofy grin caused by my wannabe brother still on my face. Soon enough, it faded and the more mature conversation picked up again. "How'd you know?" I wondered. When Scott looked at me slightly confused, I continued. "That Liam and I would make it?"

He smiled, the warm kind of smile that made you feel comfortable, seen, understood. "You two reminded me of us." he admitted. "Allison and I, when we fell in love."

I felt my heart break and swell all at the same time. I had almost idolized Allison, for how amazing of a person she was, for how she acted like an older sister to me, but most importantly for how she had loved my brother, accepted him for who he was and helped shape him into the person he was today.

"She'd be proud of you." I whispered, reaching out to squeeze my brother's hand.

He nodded, "She'd be proud of you too, Syd, like I am."
