"Do you really think it's a good idea to be doing this?" Liam asked as him, Scott and I walked down the halls of the school. We had found out from Corey this morning that the Dread Doctors had taken Mason. I felt nauseous every time I thought about what they could be doing to him. That's why we were now going to extreme lengths to get him back.

"We're not stupid, we're desperate." Scott argued.

"How desperate?" Liam wondered.

Scott stopped at the door to the boys locker room and turned to Liam and I, "Incredibly desperate." He then opened the door to reveal Theo and Tracy, both of them turning to look at us with devious grins on their faces.

"No." I whispered.

"Yes, now come on." Scott hissed pulling me into the room. Liam stood beside me shaking his head as Theo motioned for us to come further into the room.

"I told you we'd end up on the same side." Theo bragged a he slowly walked in circles, which I might add was making me quite dizzy.

"How about I punch you in the balls to remind you we're not." Liam mocked Theo's tone.

Theo laughed at what Liam said as he crossed his arms across his chest, "I love this kid."

"I don't." Tracy muttered.

Liam and I both turned our heads to shoot her a dirty look as Scott began to talk, "I know you're not on my side Theo. You said you wanted to help Lydia, but you left Eichen with something else, didn't you?"

"You mean the mask?" Theo clarified,  "Are you worried about that?"

"Did you put it on?" my brother questioned.

From the silence from Theo and the sideways glance Tracy gave him, we took that as a yes, "Who did you see?" I asked, now hopeful we may be on to something.

"Not Mason." He said as if it was funny.

"What's that mean? It's not him?" Liam asked hopefully.

"It probably means he's a lost cause." Tracy informed.

I clenched my fists at my side, getting really close to snapping at her.

Theo's eyes fell on my hands, and then back up to my face, "You might want to keep an eye on your little sister, she looks angry." Theo told Scott, a smirk covering his face. "What's the matter Sydney, don't like me anymore?" he teased, "You didn't seem to have a problem with me when your lips were on mine."

I felt my face fall as both my brother and Liam looked over to me. I narrowed my eyes at Theo, seconds away from lunging at him.

"Stay away from my sister," Scott ordered before turning to Liam, nodding toward the door. Liam nodded as he placed his hands on my shoulders ushering me to the hallway.

"This is stupid!" I snapped the minute we were out of the room, "Theo is just going to screw us over."

"Sydney, we need him, don't you want Mason back?" Liam asked, furrowing his brows.

"Of course I want Mason back, what kind of question is that!?" I demanded.

We were now gaining the looks of students passing by us in the hall, "I just don't want to have to work with Theo."

"None of us do," Liam reminded,  "But it's the only option."

"He's right." Scott said as he closed the door behind him.

"What's the plan then?" I questioned with a sigh.

"We're meeting him at the observation theatre in 2 hours."

"How desperate are we?" Liam asked again.

"Incredibly."

----

"This has bad idea written all over it." I mumbled as the three of us made our way into the observation theatre, one of, if not the most, terrifying places in Beacon Hills.

"They call him Der Soldat, it's German for 'The Soldier'." Theo explained, looking up at one of the large glass tubes, "I'm pretty sure he fought in World War II."

"He was a Nazi." Scott confirmed.

"And an alpha werewolf." Theo added, "The Dread Doctors were using him to prolong their lives, they've been doing it for decades, actually probably longer."

"How old are these guys?" I asked, confused and slightly worried as to what we were taking on.

"Who knows." Theo replied."But wherever they go, he goes too."

"So how do we find them?" Liam questioned.

"Keeping him alive requires a pretty unique set of conditions. There's got to be a power source and it has to be underground and on-"

"On a toller current." Scott finished Theo's senescent, pulling out his map that had all the electrical currents, handing it to Theo.

Theo took the map, glancing it over before looking back up at us, "Looks like we're going for a hike."

---

Thirty minutes later we were walking through the dark forest in search of the Dread Doctors home base. Nerves fluttered in my stomach as the cool breeze left me shivering.

"This is still a really bad idea." I mumbled, looking around the dark forest, "He could just be leading us out here to kill us."

"Let's hope that's not the case." Liam replied, his own eyes gazing over the forest.

Suddenly he stopped, causing the rest of us to do the same, "We're close." he announced.

"Did you get his scent?" Scott asked, causing him to nod.

"Which way?" Theo questioned, watching Liam while he awaited his answer.

Liam looked over at me, it was if he was going over everything I had said before, and then weighing out his options.

"What? You think you're going to leave me behind?" Theo demanded.

"Liam-" Scott stared.

"He wants to kill him Scott!" I snapped, trying to put some sense into my brother.

"I just want his power." Theo argued,  "You want to fight someone who actually wants to kill Mason, go fight Parrish." he shot back, causing me to take a small step back.

Liam instinctively took a small step so he was in front of me, "Who'd you see when you put on the mask?" he demanded.

Theo shook his head "I already told you it wasn't Mason."

"Who was it!" I flinched at the rising of Liam's voice.

"I saw a man dying in the snow." Theo said, throwing his arms up as if to say 'there, there's your answer.' "He was impaled on a spear."

"It's called a pike, Lydia told us the story." Scott said reminding Liam and I.

"Then all three of you know what it means. Times running out. Where is he Liam? What direction?"

Liam looked back at me and I gave him a small nod, we needed to find Mason, even if that meant trusting Theo.

"This way." Liam mumbled, marching down the path. I took one last glance behind me before following after the three boys.

After only minutes of walking, we arrived at an old wooden shack, Liam didn't hesitate to rush to the door. Before he could open it, Scott placed his hand on Liam's back, "Listen."

Theo and I shared a brief look of wonder as the two boys listened to something coming from inside the shack, "It's him." Liam whispered, pulling open the door.

I felt my heart almost beating through my chest as I followed the boys into the building. It was dimly lit, making it hard to navigate. I placed my hands on the walls feeling my way around as we walked down the stairs.

"You okay?" Theo asked from in front of me.

"Fine." I muttered, not bothering to look him in the eye.

"Mason?" Liam whispered.

"Mason?" I echoed as we reached the bottom level.

As we turned the corner my heart dropped into my stomach. My eyes grew wide at the sight of Mason slouched down in front of one of the large glass tubes, similar to the ones in the observation theatre, however this one was filled with a body, submerged in a green liquid.

Both Liam and I immediately rushed to crouch down beside Mason, attempting to wake him.

"Liam." I whispered, my eyes falling on a thick tube, enlodged in Mason's neck. His eyes followed mine and he let out a small grunt.

"It's connected to him." Scott explained. I soon realized that the man in the tube, whoever he was, was feeding off of Mason.

"What is this thing?" Liam asked.

"I don't know." Theo admitted.

"Liam." Mason cried, "I can feel it, it's in my skull."

I felt my eyes start to water at the sight of one of my friends in pain, my hand rested on his shoulder as I examined the tube. As Mason moved the tank began to bubble.

"Don't move." I instructed.

"Be careful." Scott cautioned.

"What are they doing to him!?" Liam snapped.

"I don't know!" Theo shot back.

"Guys just focus." Scott ordered before turning back to Mason. "Mason, we're gonna get you out of here."

"Hold him still." Scott said to Liam and I.

We both took a hold of either one of his arms, to prevent him from moving.

"I'm going to try and pull it out, let me know if it hurts." Scott said to Mason, trying to keep him calm.

And then he started pulling, and Mason started screaming. I winced and turned away and Scott lightly pulled at the tube. "It hurts, It definitely hurts." Mason gasped for air.

"I barely moved it." Scott whispered to Liam and I.

I was just about to speak, and then I heard it, the all too familiar sound of the Dread Doctors and they were coming our way...
