I was going to do it. I, Ava Jones was going to stand up to the school's bully, Brittny White. She was the worst and most people absolutely hated her, but wouldn't say anything because they knew a new rumor would be spread about them the next day. But I was going to do it, and wouldn't care about a stupid, useless rumor.

I found her bullying one of the members of the chess club. They're good kids, I don't know why anyone would try to tease them.

"Hey, Brittny," I said bitterly.

"What, stupid?" she asked raising an eyebrow looking at me. She gave me that look of don't mess with me or you'll regret it. But I wasn't so easily scared.

"Why can't you just leave him alone?" I asked shrugging.

"Haven't you realized it's fun, Ava?" she said my name like a curse. "Or do you have a better idea?"

"Yes, I think I very well do," I said smiling as fakely as I could.

"You know what? I think you're right!" What? "I should pick on you instead!" That was not what I intended. I was prepared for this in no way.

"Get lost," she said to the boy she was bullying earlier, and he nodded and rushed off eager to get out of the situation. "C' mon, you and I are gonna have a little talk." Oh. My. God. I desperately searched for a way out of this but was stuck. I dug a hole for myself and couldn't get out. Good job, Ava.
