𝕿𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡 Skywalker dies he becomes a legend.

A legend, not a fallen angel. He becomes immortal, known as a golden hero, the galaxy's last hope and the republic's shining soldier, the stories of his great adventures and sieges burning within the people's hearts forever.

He leaves the world a better place, sacrificing himself for greater good, dying amidst the raging clone wars, finding solace in his last few moments. The history books will write about the smile on his lips during his final dance with death - and how he didn't lose without putting up a fight.

No crimson blade, no burned wings, no fire scorching through his skin, no dark hot fury flashing through his veins. No metal suit. Anakin dies as the hero he really is, golden curls and bronze skin, a lion's heart and loving soul.

The day Anakin Skywalker dies, Selyn Val'aeon starts falling into a black horrid void with no end. The force around her lashes out, angry, white-hot and so incredibly scared, searching for his presence, for his loving touch, his gentle smile. His fire-hot lips and gentle hands, his eyes like sapphire skies she likes to get lost in, his warm voice and his so unique way of calming her down.

The force rears in a cataclysmic maelstrom and crumbles into nothingness.

Void. Empty. A world without him. 

She screams and nobody hears her – the Jedi don't see her agony, they are too busy wondering about what will come. He was the chosen one, they say. What happens now? They question, and some of them mourn him and others are anxious, because who will bring balance to the force now?

Selyn doesn't care, and nobody sees her fall until she sets the world on fire, feeding the crimson flames with the inferno within her heart.

And so no one will remember the lovers they were, no one will remember their story before it all died.

No one will ever know how much they loved each other, how brightly their hearts burned and how much brighter her smile once was. No one will ever know how they chased Coruscant's blazing sunrises, embracing the golden light, dripping over their fingers like honey. Sneaking out of the jedi temple like flowers that blossom at dawn - hand in hand, giggling, bare-feet. She is fire and he is her sun: providing warmth, a home for her to return to and to keep her grounded - until the darkness comes and turns bright skies into an everlasting solar eclipse. And so no one will ever know all their quiet whispers and little jokes, the plans they had for their future and how sweet the flowers were that he puts behind her ear, how warm the golden sunlight on their faces, and how much sweeter their kisses.

No one will remember.

This is a galaxy of war, of inescapable destiny and cruel gods, of sacrifice and loss. A galaxy where destruction is inevitable, no matter how hard they fight.

They are star crossed lovers doomed to fall, too bright and too close to the sun - but their love won't be the end of it all.

Her downfall will be.

but yeah, I do be quite hyped yes yes...and NO, its not ALL gonna be sad - act one n two are very cute and mostly fluffy, only act three is where shit goes down. It will break my heart tho, so y'all better get ready. but we get to see them as padawans n stuff, and they have a vv funny dynamic with lots of bantering and being dumbasses. also lots of soft!anakin. they both be very protective, selyn even more than anakin - oops.

But ANYWAYS, this plot was in my mind for quite some time now - idk I think I kinda just wondered what would have happened if anakin died before he fulfils his story as Darth Vader, and what would happen then - so this is my AU to explore this. also I get to write a corruption arc and lots of pain I love angst n pain yes I have a problem.

✨little✨ appendix, now that the fic has its revival:

This story and its characters, especially Selyn mean a lot to me, like I've worked on this for so, so long - with longer and shorter breaks - but this book and its contents have been brewing in my head for a few years now already (wow, time has passed so quickly). Selyn has grown a lot during that time, and there are many experiences and fears of my own that I poured into her character.

There have been so many changes and turns in her story, the perfectionist that I am I could never be fully satisfied with it until now. Now I have a version that feels good telling and that I am fully confident with to be the best version of this story, doing justice to all the aspects that mean something to me and that I want to get across.

Selyn's character is a very layered and complicated one, and she changes so much throughout this book. There are many different factors coming together and making her who she is, but one of the arguably most important ones is her growing up most of her youth without proper guidance from parents and such. It leaves her uprooted and searching for something to rely and depend on all her life, a pattern that will turn tragic: first it's Nadia, then Anakin, and finally Palpatine.

Another factor is the memory of her family she still has when she is taken, which causes her to feel this loss even more deeply. This fear of loss and something she holds dear being stripped away from her is something that influences her for the rest of her life and that makes her irrational and too emotional at times.

Then there is Crylles' culture and religion that play a huge role in how Selyn perceives concepts like destiny and fate and contribute to her aversion to it whilst at the same time nurturing the very deep-rooted fear that those things might be real, might even impact her and her actions! This is a very central theme of her arc and closely connected to the culture she inherited and which we will be also exploring a lot in this story.

And of course, there are a lot more catalysts to her downfall that will resurface throughout the book (stay tuned!)
