5.The falling of dried leaves
Jung Soo Ah's POV
My head swirled when the scenes flashed in front of me, like Polaroid pictures. What I talked and did to Yoongi yesterday when we were drunk. I gazed at Yoongi, cupping his cheeks, for a while, then moved away from him. Another thing that worried me was about the chick. I began searching for it everywhere, but I couldn't find it.
"Soo Ah, it's here," Hoseok yelled, making me feel relieved. It was snoozing away under the couch.
"Can you put it in the basket and place it in my room?" I asked, and he agreed to it.
"Yoongi, What's that in your?" Hoseok asked, inquisitively eyeing Yoongi.
"Hoseok, don't you have a headache? Go freshen up and come. I'll prepare breakfast and hangover soup," I said, stepping in front of him so that he wouldn't move further.
He stared at me brazenly. "Don't drink too much," saying that he smacked my head as he began walking upstairs.
"Weren't you the one who gave us the idea to drink?" I said, rubbing my head.
I turned around to find Yoongi's cold gaze on me. I took the tissue out of the box placed on the coffee table, and I quickened my pace to wipe his face, but he grabbed it from my hand.
"Soo Ah, I know it's your lipstick smudge on my face. Don't assume that I don't know about it," he said, wiping his face.
"I didn't intend to do that, and I hope you don't ask for money for your shirt."
"This limited edition shirt was a gift from my professor for winning my first case."
"It's a gift! I apologize for ruining it. I will wash it for you," I said, feeling guilty as this shirt must be precious to him.
"Don't drink too much if you can't control yourself. You can wash my shirt, but be careful with it," he said, glancing at his shirt, which had dried beer tints on it.
After a warm bath that helped me to sober up, I started making meals for us and the chick. To make it easier for the chick to eat, I cooked and mashed the pumpkin.
As I was cooking, the refreshing breeze coming in through the window calmed me down. The dreamy orchid plant placed on the windowsill swayed as the wind eddied around them. When the cold breeze grew stronger, the dried leaf flew away from the plant as it drifted in the air supple as paper. The dried leaf rested on my hand for a minute as it blew back into the air again.
It reminded me of Do Hun, who turned up in my life and then disappeared. He encouraged me to work harder so that we could make more money and live an extravagant way of life, once we got married. Everything went smoothly for the first three months, but then he started behaving oddly. He stopped taking me on dates on weekends and asked that I work extra hours. I believed he was serious about our relationship and future.
However, it turned out that he dreamed of a rich spouse who was successful in their career so that he could live lavishly. Instead of comforting me, he ended our relationship when he learned that I had not been promoted. I understood that he did not love me.
I'm glad I'm not into him because we barely dated for six months. These types of people do not deserve to be loved.
I ignored his thoughts and indulged myself in cooking, inhaling the aromatic flavor of the juicy filling of meat encased in golden wrappers, which appeared tempting. We three enjoyed our breakfast as I fed the chicks, chatting cheerfully which brightened the atmosphere.
"Grandma and Grandpa will arrive tomorrow early in the morning, right? I have not seen them for years," Hoseok asked excitedly, tapping the table.
"Yes, they will arrive tomorrow, and I am excited to celebrate the new year with them tomorrow night," I replied.
"Soo Ah, don't forget to wash my shirt that you stained." Yoongi got up suddenly as he interrupted our talk and stepped out toward the garden.
I looked at Hoseok, who had a dangerous glint in his eyes. I explained everything to him, and he rebuked me for an hour. Most of the time, Hoeseok shafts a happy glow on others, making them smile, but when he turns out to be serious, it's not a good thing.
Even though I was mad at Yoongi, I blamed myself for ruining his shirt. I quickly washed it using cold water by hand so as not to damage it and let it dry.
At night, I circled in front of his room. Yoongi opened the door, holding his cat in his hand. The cat had sweet tiny paws and soft white fur covering its whole body resembling snow spread on the floor. Its two perky ears wobbled. Both of them looked adorable.
"Why were you walking back and forth in front of my room?" Yoongi asked me while the cat jumped from his hand and came towards me. It rubbed its paws on my feet and sniffed me.
Catching a glimpse of me being nervous, Yoongi pulled my hands and held them firmly. He dragged my hand downward and patted the cat's head.
"Don't be scared. It's rare for her to get acquainted with new people, but Hazel likes you and your scent I think. Cherish those people who love you instead of wasting your time thinking about those useless people," Yoongi said.
I understood what he meant. He probably tried to comfort me for what I said yesterday. His warm touch on my hand helped me to calm down and I felt comfortable petting Hazel. I got up and gave the box to him.
"Yoongi, thank you, and open the box after I leave. Happy Chinese New Year in advance." I let out those words and strode towards my room.
My Serene Lavender got First Place for Best Title in the Inkscapes Awards.
After a lot of struggle, I drafted this chapter. I apologize if there are any mistakes.
