This is My Year
Mumbo's Perspective-
"Good morning." A deputy nodded at Mumbo, standing by the gate of the school.
"Morning." Mumbo smiled and looked ahead at the campus.
There were kids meeting up with their friends, some running up and hugging each other. Freshmen were wandering around staring at their schedule, trying to figure out the huge campus. Some teachers walked into their classes, holding a cup of coffee looking exhausted.
Mumbo took his schedule out of his pockets, reading World History, for first period.
He saw that he still had ten minutes and walked to the art building and knocked on the door. This was the only room he really felt like he belonged, that he was welcomed.
His journalism teacher, Mr. Raymond, opened the door.
"Oh, hi Mumbo." He smiled.
"Hi Mr. Ray, how are you doing?" Mumbo asked, walking into the classroom.
"I'm alright, having a hard time adjusting to the early time though." He said in a bit of an exhausted tone, "But I saw you were on my roster again for yearbook so that's good."
Mumbo smiled brightly, feeling proud.
"You know, Mumbo, I was thinking of bumping you up to be one of the editors of the yearbook this year. We don't have too many seniors taking the class and plus you really know your stuff. I could assign you one of the big pages as well." Mr. Raymond said, sitting down at his desk.
Mumbo's eyes sparkled. "Really? Yeah! I'd love that."
"Great! I'll let you know more about it as we dive into things." Mr. Raymond said, propping his feet up on his desk.
"So how was your summer?" Mumbo asked, making small talk as he waited for the first bell to ring.
"It was alright." Mr. Raymond sighs, "A bit stressful. Angelina was very energetic, but her and Josefina were able to keep each other entertained."
Mumbo smiled as he recalled Mr. Raymond's two daughters. They were young and seemed very sweet.
"What about you?" Mr. Raymond asked, "Do anything fun?"
"Not really." Mumbo shrugged, "Well, I did visit my grandmother in Georgia, and I got some pictures. My dad didn't allow me to take my camera with me cause it's pretty expensive and he didn't want the possibility of the airlines losing it."
"I swear the airlines suck now." Mr. Raymond muttered, "It's such a nightmare."
Mumbo nods and takes out his phone, showing his teacher his pictures.
"Mmm...yeah, your camera would've done better because you could've fixed that exposure there. But you can always go in and edit it through photoshop." Mr. Raymond critiqued.
"Yeah." Mumbo said, nodding.
Mr. Raymond glanced at the clock and saw that he had two minutes.
"Better get headed to your first period, you don't want to be late."
Mumbo nods and grabs his bag.
"I'll see you 6th period." He called, smiling.
Mr. Raymond waved, and Mumbo left, his mind wandering with all kinds of ideas for the yearbook.
I hope you guys enjoy Mr. Raymond, he's based off my dad so I'm having fun (my dad got really mad at me tho when i asked him to rant about why he doesn't like film pictures because he said "No! I'm not letting you do that and then just make fun of me" so uh- it might be a bit wrong in the photography part a couple times but I don't think anyone will care :)
