Still wishing there will be better days

A few days have passed and Hoseok became better friends with you, Tae and Kookie. Sometimes Hoseok would even spend breaks with you guys. You even noticed that Kookie became less shy now with Hoseok around.

It was break now but since it was cold, you, Kookie and Tae decided to eat inside an empty classroom and sat in the desks near the door.

You were all laughing and joking around when a familiar face walked by the door and spotted you guys.

"Yo! Jhope!" Tae called out to him. Apparently Jhope was a name he wanted everyone to call him and remember him by though many people thought it was stupid. He wanted to be that source of hope for everyone. So you also came up with another nickname for him: Hobi. It was a mixture of his name and hope.

"V-yah!" Hoseok yelled back, walking into the room. And because of Hoseok, Tae wanted a cool nickname too. So he named himself 'V' for 'victorious'.

Kookie laughed at their nicknames. He was the only one out of them who thought it was weird. You all then started greeting each other and then sat down again to start eating.

A few minutes later Hoseok was telling you all about something that happened in his class between a teacher and a student. You all started laughing when somebody entered the room, appearing behind Hoseok, and suddenly hit him on the head.

"Hey, ditcher," said the boy, making Hoseok turn around with a shocked look on his face mixed with a little bit of confusion.

"Yah! Yoongi that hurt!" Hoseok said to the boy who hit him on the head.

A taller boy then entered the room from behind the boy who's name was Yoongi. "So this is who you ditched us for," said the taller boy while studying you and your two best friends. "And here we thought you were at dance practice getting ready for the school event coming up."

The dance that you and Tae saw Kookie doing during dance practice the other day was apparently a dance they had to do in a school show where all the art students had to perform.

Hoseok scratched his head while laughing nervously. "Oh you noticed," was all he said.

"Of course we noticed," said the taller boy. He then turned to look at you, Tae and Kookie. "Hey. I'm Namjoon, by the way," he said and then gestured to the boy next to him, "and this is Yoongi. We're friends of Hoseok."

You guys were confused but greeted back anyways. "Hi. My name's Y/n. These are my friends, Jungkook and Taehyung," you said while gesturing to you friends.

"Stop saying that! My name isn't Taehyung, it's V!" Tae exclaimed unexpectedly excited, making you almost fall out of your chair.

You and Kookie just shook your heads, embarrassed by your friend's action while Hoseok laughed happily. Namjoon and Yoongi just looked confused.

"Hoseok got to him," you simply explained and the two boys in the doorway suddenly understood.

"See, this is why we shouldn't just let him wonder around anywhere by himself," explained Yoongi to the taller boy. "He's already infected someone."

"Hey, what does that mean? I don't have a disease," Hoseok said, offended by what the older boy had said. "You're always so mean to me, Yoongi."

Yoongi sighed and walked to Hoseok's table to sit on it. He patted Hoseok on the head without looking at him, but to the front of the class. "Oh, loosen up. I'm just kidding," he said.

"Do you guys mind if we crash here with you guys now?" Namjoon asked turning the attention away from Yoongi and Hoseok.

"Nope. You guys can stay," you say after looking at both your friends who looked fine with it.

Suddenly Hoseok's attention turned straight to you. "Wait. What?" He looked horrified. "No, no, no, no. They don't have to stay," he said quickly.

Everyone looked at him weirdly. Namjoon was the first to speak. "What's wrong with us staying here? Why don't you want us to stay?" Namjoon asked, clearly offended.

Hoseok went completely silent. "It's nothing... You guys can stay," he said, looking down at table.

"No way! I want to know why," Namjoon said, eyes fixed on Hoseok.

"Well..." Hoseok started to mumble things that nobody understood, clearly trying to stall. You wondered if he was going to keep this up until this break ended.

"Ok 'well...' " Yoongi interrupted Hoseok. "While you keep mumbling to yourself, I'm going to embarrass you in front of your new friends until you tell us," he said while turning to face you.

Hoseok quickly grabbed the boy's arm with big eyes and sighed before laughing a little. "See, this is why. You guys are always trying to embarrass me. Why do you think I don't have any other friends?"

"We're the only friends you need," said Namjoon.

"Yeah but you guys are leaving next year. What do you think I'm supposed to do then?"

That made the two older boys stop and think. You took the opportunity to speak.

"So are you guys a year older than us?"

"Yeah, they are," said Hoseok.

(A/n: yes, I know Joon is younger than Hobi. I was a new ARMY when writing this fic guys please just let me live T.T Let's just imagine Joonie's high IQ got him into a higher grade.)

"Then how'd you guys become friends?" Surprisingly it was Kookie who asked the question.

Yoongi then immediately burst out laughing. "You guys should have seen how--" Yoongi started but then stopped when he saw Hoseok glare at him. "Ok fine. We won't embarrass you around your new friends."

Hoseok turned to look at Namjoon and Namjoon then nodded, agreeing to what Yoongi had said. Hoseok looked satisfied. "Thank you. Okay, you guys can stay," he said happily.

The break had ended after a few minutes and you all headed to your classes. It was maths and you had this subject alone. You used to have it with Jimin but of course he didn't sit with you anymore.

You sat by the table near the window. You laid your head on the table for about two minutes waiting for the rest of the class to arrive. You heard the chair in front of you being pulled out so that someone could sit down in it. You instantly felt tense. Without even looking up, you knew who it was. It was almost as if you could sense him. Jimin.

The teacher then arrived and told you all to rise, greet and sit down again.

You tried to concentrate but you couldn't. He didn't push in his chair so his chair was against his your table making you closer to him. You felt like you could almost smell his familiar scent. All you could see was the back of his neck, his soft hair that you wished you could run your fingers through like you used to, his shoulders that you wished you could wrap your arms around... Why was he doing this to you?

Jimin then handed a page back to you without turning around or looking at you. You didn't notice that you were getting handouts from the teacher. You took the page from Jimin and accidently touched his hand. You both instantly pulled away. You noticed he was also feeling flustered about being close to you... But then why was he sitting so close to you?

You then realized how much you missed his touch too. You couldn't take this anymore. You didn't want to let him know that sitting close to him was affecting you but you just couldn't take it any longer.

You looked around for an empty seat and you were about to get up when you hear that familiar voice say your name. "Y/n." Jimin still said your name with so much love. You missed hearing his voice. You couldn't take it. "I'm sorry..." he said, making your breath catch.

You heart was beating fast. What did he mean by that? Does he want to get back together? You opened you mouth to say something but you didn't know what to say.

He spoke instead. "I'm sorry but I wasn't here yesterday. Did you keep any notes for me?"

You're heart instantly dropped. You were speechless. You thought he was sorry about what he said to you. But all he wanted was notes. Who does he think he is? Why would you still keep notes for him like you used to?

"No, sorry," was all you could say.
"Why not? You still mad?" He said and it shocked you that he actually said that. Something about him was so different now. The way he talked to you was so lifeless.

"No. Why should I still even keep notes for you?" you snapped irritably.

Jimin then turned around to face you for the first time, with a smirk on his face. "Aw, calm down," he chuckled. "You could still keep me a few notes, you know. We don't need to be friends to do that," he said.

You chest was burning. Why was he being so rude to you? He was hurting you.

"You can forget it. Ask your actual friends," you said fiercely and turned back to your work, ignoring him.

He whistled. "Feisty," he said while turning back around to his work.

You sat silently for about two minutes before he spoke again. "Also, that new friend of yours- Hoseok. You should be careful of him." He then got up and went back to sit with his friends.

His words wouldn't leave your mind. Why was he being so mean to you? And what did he mean by being careful of Hoseok?

As soon as it was break again you hurried to the bathroom so that you could be alone only to find out all the stalls were filled and you couldn't wait that long so you decided to find another place to be alone.

You were outside walking on a path in between the school building and some trees. It was quiet there and it was deserted but you didn't want to stay there because the risk of someone finding you there was high. So you decided to continue walking to the end of the school where not many people went. But the long walk made your mind become filled with thought.

Today. What he did. His words. They were spinning around in your head. He was mocking you. Probably laughing at you. And like an idiot, you still love him. You still love him. His voice. His eyes. His lips. His hair. Everything. I hate him, you thought. Everything. I hate him. Why was he doing this to you? I hate him, I hate him, I hate him.

But why do I still love him?

That was it. You couldn't hold it in any longer. You burst into tears. And they wouldn't go away. Neither your thoughts or the tears.

Suddenly you heard someone walking toward you. You couldn't make out who it was because of your blurry eyes due to your crying. You didn't want anyone to see you crying so you ran pass the person so that they couldn't see.

"Y/n?" Oh great, you thought. It was someone you knew. It was Hoseok. You ran even faster now. But he caught your wrist and pulled you behind a tree. "Y/n, what's wrong? What happened?" He said while moving your hair out of your face. You could hear the concern in his voice.

You moved your head to the side so that your hair could fall back into your eyes. You didn't want him to see you like this.

He then pulled you into an embrace. "It's okay. You can cry on me." He said it in a sooth and comforting voice that made you wrap your arms around him and cry even more. "Tomorrow will be a better day," he said.

You then snapped. You let go of him so that he could see your face. You looked him in the eyes, even though your vision was blurry. "No, it won't. I tell myself that every single day and it never gets better because every night I still look like this. I'm sick of those words!" You shouted, tears still streaming down your face.

Hoseok said nothing. He just stepped closer and wiped the tears from your face. Suddenly you could see clearly. He looked so worried about you and concerned for you. But underneath all that, he looked hurt. You realized that you had shouted at him and instantly felt bad about what you did.

"I'm sorry. It's just..." Your eyes started tearing up again and a lump formed in your throat, making you stop.

"It's okay. You don't have to tell me what it is if you don't want to," he said.

"No, I want to tell you. Since the beginning all you've wanted to do was be there for me and it's only right that I tell you what the problem is at least," you said.

"Wait, not here," he said, noticing two people walking nearby. He put his arm around you to direct you which way to go and partly to comfort you. He could feel you shivering while walking you to the far end of the school.

You and Hoseok found a quiet place and sat down on a bench. "You can take your time to tell me, okay?" He said.

"It's okay. I think I can handle it now," you said. You suddenly went blank and felt silly when realizing what you were crying about. "Uhm..." You laughed a little while tears fell from your eyes. "It's stupid really. I don't even know why I'm crying. I'm so sorry."

"I'm sure it's not stupid if you're hurting and actually crying about it."

You laughed a little at his concerned and confused face with teary eyes. Why was he always so worried about you? "See, that day that you met me, it was the day that my boyfriend broke up with me. He said it was because he thinks there is something between me and Taehyung. But that's impossible because we've been best friends since childhood. And then he told me that he wanted me to stop being friends with Tae which I would never do because he's like my little brother. So he left me. And now he acts like I don't even exist." You paused as another lump formed in your throat before continuing again.

"Today it was the first time he spoke to me since the break up and the way he talked to me was like I meant nothing to him. And it kills me because he used to love me so much so I don't understand how he could get over me so easily. Was it that easy to get over me? And now I'm starting to wonder if I was ever really good enough for him." Without you noticing, tears started falling down your cheeks again.

"Look at me," he said. You wiped the tears from your eyes before looking up at him so that you could see him clearly. It was the first time you ever saw him look this serious. "You are worth so much more than you think. Don't ever forget that. He's the one who wasn't good enough for you. And frankly, I believe you deserve better," he reassured you. "Which I know you will receive."

The seriousness in his voice made you believe him. What he had told you made your heart warm up and the empty feeling you felt in your heart felt as if it was slowly filling up again.

You didn't know what this feeling was that you were feeling but what you did know was that Jhope was giving you... hope. Hope that maybe better days will come. His nickname really did suit him.

You tilted your head to the side while giving him a smile, sadness still showing in your eyes. "I think I'm gonna keep calling you Jhope from now on."
