2. Aren't You Suppose to Protect Me?

Now being far away from home, and with a bounty on his head. Niran found it troublesome to sleep his first night at Overwatch. If he couldn't sleep, he might as well try to find something to pass time with... or someone.

Niran went out of his room and towards Hanzo's, knocking on the door. He was the only person he was going to be close to at some point, might as well speed up the progress.

There was no answer from the first knock so he knocked again, then once more. No answer. Niran assumed he must've been asleep, he walked away from the door and walked the halls. Although Hanzo had showed him around, he decided to try and learn the layout so he could get used to it in a short amount of time.

He kept note of certain parts of the base, what hallways lead where and what certain rooms were. While also remaining quiet, since he didn't want to wake anyone.

But someone was awake.

As Niran walked through an arrow had gone straight past him. His body froze for a moment, worried that despite being here for a day, his life was already over at this very moment. He tried to see who or what had shot that arrow (that luckily missed) towards him.

"That was a warning shot, I suggest you choose your moves carefully." A voice from across the hall spoke, but other than being intimidated by that voice. Niran calmed down a bit.

It was a voice he could recognize. He watched as the figure approched him slowly, having the bow ready to fire. But once that person had gotten closer and realize their mistake, they lowered the bow.

"I.. I am so sorry. I assumed you were an intruder.." Hanzo spoke quietly.

"It gave me a scare but I understand you caution." Niran approached him, "Besides, aren't you suppose to protect me? Not be the cause of my death."

Hanzo looked away, "I understand that," he looked back at him, "I truly do apologize for my unlawful action."

"It's fine, I forgive you." Niran said, "Now that I'm seeing it, you're quite short." He smiled slightly as he noticed his new discovery.

"Short?" Hanzo raised a brow as he looked up at him.

"Yes, exactly. You are. I guess there was a lot going on earlier I haven't noticed. You're much shorter than I am, but I'll take the benefit of the doubt since I'm tall for my age." Niran explained.

"Sounds like something a child would say." Hanzo made eye contact with him, "How old are you anyways?"

"31, you? Or are you shy about that?" He smiled slightly.

"You kid too often, I am 40." Hanzo said, "Tell me, who exactly is after you? I must prepare for what I'd face."

"It's Vishkar that's after me, I'm not sure who they exactly sent after me. But probably anyone, you'll be fine if you switch your weapon of choice." Niran explained and suggested.

"A bow is more skillful than any other weapon you suggest. I'll stick with my weapon of choice until the day I cease to exist." He glared.

"Okay, I understand, but now I'm curious. Why is someone who wields a bow chosen to guard me? Wouldn't someone else be a better choice?"

"The decision lied on Morrison, if you have a question like that then I suggest you ask him."

"But you accepted, did you not?"

"I did but what point does that make?"

"Oh, nothing."

"You ask many questions in hopes for an answer, yet you don't even know why you ask them?" Hanzo raised a brow in slight confusion.

"And you talk in metaphors I don't point out." Niran mentioned. "It's getting late, we should go and rest. Especially you, Shimada. A bodyguard must always be alert, get your sleep." He said but let out a slight chuckle, confusing Hanzo more.

"Was there something funny with what you said?"

"No, well, it was something my roommate would say a lot. She got annoyed that I'd fall asleep so late into the night, or sometimes not sleep at all." Niran smiled as he reminiscence about it.

"You two seem to have been close, tell me about her."

"I'd like to keep Satya out of my current situation. She did try getting me to give in, meaning we wouldn't have met if I agreed. But Vishkar wants to use my biolight in a way I don't agree with. If it's in there hands... I'm unsure what the outcome of it would be..." His eyes slightly looked away from Hanzo but back at him. "But let's not talk about my unfortunate situation, I'll see you tomorrow morning, Shimada." Niran smiled and tried to walk away.

Hanzo turned as Niran walked past him, "You're going to give me that information and expect the conversation to end?"

"Yep, good night!" Niran said and quickly went back to his room, hoping Hanzo wouldn't say anything more.

He wasn't fully ready to speak about all the detail of his new situation. As much as he wanted to joke about it, Niran knew it was serious. It was just his way of coping. And Hanzo was only his bodyguard, not his friend or someone he could open up to. But he hoped someday he'd have someone to talk to properly.

A friend he considered true still remained with Vishkar, he knew that was her decision to stay. He couldn't drag her into his situation. He was now worried for Overwatch now. Once Vishkar knew where he was, if they kept pushing to find him. Niran worried that his plan to protect life as much as he can will crumble down with Overwatch being the first start.

Once in his room, he laid down in his bed and passed out. After all, being asleep get's rid of all the thoughts.
