Kit could not sleep that night. He had tossed and turned in his bed for hours with no reprieve from his racing thoughts.

It had been a year.
Actually, more than a year since he had seen her last. Besides not so subtlety stalking her on Instagram.

"Of course she changed you idiot. She's not you."

His mutterings echoed back in his room and he realized he'd never sleep at this point.
He hadn't realized how much he had missed Clementine until today. Or how much he had missed them.

He remembered those days when the two of them had just first met at that coffee shop and he had kept coming back, hoping she would be there. 
He remembered the way his heart beat so loud when they kissed the first time, he thought she would notice and make fun of him.

He remembered smiling because he had a crush on the shape of her name on his phone.
He remembered the days where they brought a blanket and bought sausage rolls and went to primrose hill for a picnic. He loved those hot summer days where everything felt fuzzy, sticky, and sweet when she was in his arms.

It was those days that should've told him it wasn't going to last forever, because good things never seem to stay.

At that time, he'd had so many hopes for them and their future. But he was young, and in love.
But then she left. And his hopes were dashed.
But everyone gets their hopes dashed. And he was young.

That's all you really need to get your hopes dashed. Be young.

Was asking to talk a mistake?

Clementine didn't exactly want to relive all those awful emotions that came with her decision to break up. And she realized it wasn't fair to leave Kit without an explanation like that, now that she's back, but she didn't exactly fancy the idea of feeling horrid all over again. She hates those moments of regret that have seemed to follow her throughout all her relationships.

For her and Kit, it was that moment when she'd said what she'd said and the boy she loves averted his gaze. But she didn't say anything as she was scared and shocked and feeling everything at once. Then he left and she immediately regretted it and wished to run after him and cry and beg him to stay, but her stupid feet stayed planted where she stood.

That was the moment her regret seemingly shattered her heart into 11 pieces slate.

She knew that her and Louis would have one eventually, like all the others, but she was hoping to put off the inevitable.
It never goes well with Clementine in the love department.

She wishes she could hold onto the good days forever, but things move too fast in her life to the point where she often gets left behind.

She hoped she could reconcile with Kit the next day, or else she wouldn't know what to do. She thought she was protecting him, keeping him from being hurt in the long run when they eventually didn't work out.

Maybe Clementine hadn't changed after all, as she was still the same coward she was when she broke up with Kit.
