๐ช๐๐๐ก ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ ๐๐๐ง ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐, it's like the world changes. You get all types of special privileges, even in an apocalypseโ especially when you're the children of the leaders of The Hilltop and Alexandria.
It had been a few days since Ivy and Carl got married, and everyone was so happy for them. They got to hunker down at The Hilltop so they didn't have to deal with work or anything.
Over the past few days, Justin was killedโ which Ivy and Carl had no feelings for, and The Saviors and the rest had a huge fight over Justinโ dramatic, right?
Luckily, Ivy and Carl were off the hook and just had to hangout at The Hilltop.
Ivy slipped on black bootcut jeans, then pulled on an oversized denim blue button up shirt, tying in in the front to crop it slightly and rolling up the sleeves halfway up her forearms. She then slipped on her black boots and stood up.
Carl finished getting ready as well and inspected her shirt. "Whose is that?" Carl asked, referring to the shirt.
"Ohโ it was my dads." Ivy answered. "Glenn. Not my actual dad."
Carl nodded and kissed her lips, rubbing her hips slightly. Ivy smiled against his lips as she stood up on her tippy toes. "I still can't believe you're my wife." Carl sighed. "Like, V, we're married."
"I know." Ivy giggled. Carl looked down at her shirt and back up at her. "What?"
"Can I, um..." Carl trailed off. Ivy looked down and saw some of her bra peeking through the top of her shirt. "It's just..." Ivy nodded and smiled at him. He buttoned up only one more button.
"Thank you, love." Ivy kissed his lips once more.
The two exited Ivy's room, and left The Barrington house. They stepped outside and saw the people working around Hilltop. One thing caught Ivy's eye, though.
Ivy looked to Carl. "I'll be right back." Carl nodded and Ivy jogged up to the welding table.
"Mom!" Ivy called out as she walked up to Maggie. "I didn't know you were back from the camp."
"Just came in this morning." Maggie told her daughter, a small smile tugging at her lips. Ivy's eyes wandered to the crowbar that was peeking through her mothers bag.
Ivy nodded. "Right..." Ivy trailed off.
"Maggie!" Jesus spoke as he walked towards the two women. "Hey, V." Ivy waved at the man. "Another letter from Georgie just came in. I was gonna put it on your desk, but here you are."
"Will you put it in the drawer for me with the others?" Maggie asked politely. "I'll read it later."
"Sure." Jesus answered quietly. Ivy and Jesus looked at each other with worried looks. "You're heading back already?"
Maggie nodded. "I just came to pick up a few things." Maggie replied.
"That crowbar being one of them?" Ivy inquired.
"You two have done a good job taking care of things here." Maggie told the two. "I'm gonna need you to keep doing that." Maggie walked away, but Jesus and Ivy followed.
"While you're someplace other than the camp?" Jesus asked.
"I'm gonna make things right." Maggie stated and turned to Jesus. "Like we talked about."
Ivy furrowed her eyebrows. "What do you mean?" Ivy inquired, and looked to Jesus. "Mom, what the hell are you talking about?"
The group of three stopped and Maggie looked at her daughter. "Are you gonna kill Negan?" Ivy asked, and Maggie nodded.
"Rick was wrong. He made a call that wasn't his to make." Maggie stated.
"He made it because he thought his son was dead!" Ivy argued. Maggie nodded.
"Well, he's not. And, Glenn is." Maggie explained, voice breaking a bit. "It's my call. Negan took away my husband, and the father of my child. Its my call more than anyones."
Ivy's eyes brimmed with tears. "He killed my dad... right in front of me. I hate him just as much as you do." Ivy said, anger lacing her voice and tears fell. "So, you didn't think to consult me on this? You didn't think that I would want to know about this?"
"Well, you know now." Maggie nodded her head.
Ivy scoffed. "I think Negan deserves to rot. He doesn't deserve to just die. Dying is the easy way out." Ivy grew angrier by the second. "Why does he get the easy way out? Why doesn't he get to rot and live in a hell all day like we do? Its not fair."
"I'm gonna make it nice and slow. He will suffer." Maggie stated.
"Not as long as you and I are gonna suffer." Ivy laughed through tears. "But, you can't see that because you're too blinded by rage. And, you're rage is gonna get someone killed."
"You don't mean that." Maggie sighed.
Ivy shook her head. "No, I do." Ivy said before pushing past Jesus.
โ๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ช?โ Carl asked as he stormed into Ivy's room. Ivy sat on her bed, zoned out. "Ivy? Did. You. Know."
"I just found out." Ivy answered quietly. "She told me, and Iโ"
"And you didn't think to tell me?" Carl inquired, raising his voice a bit. Ivy stood up and looked up at him. "You know my dad... he's gonna do anything to keep Negan alive."
Ivy looked up at her boyfriend with tear filled eyes. "Why does he get to be free?" Ivy cried. Carls eyes softened and he took her into a hug. "It isn't fair."
"You deserve to live, V. You deserve everything good the world has to offer. You deserve a life." Carl whispered into her ear as she cried.
"Carl! Carl!" The familiar voice of Jesus yelled. Ivy and Carl both looked up as Jesus ran through the door.
Carl walked up to him. "What is it?" Carl asked.
"It's your dad."
๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ ๐ช๐๐ฆ supposed to be the start of something. A new beginning. A good one. It symbolized life, and living, not just surviving. It was a bridge that you could once walk with you're grandchildren and tell them the story about how it was built, how many screws it took, how many people sacrificed a lot for it.
But that was all gone now.
Daryl shot an arrow through a walkers head, making Rick turn and look towards the large crowd of his family. People from The Hilltop, Alexandria, The Kingdom, hellโ even Saviors were there.
Carl watched in horror as a herd of walkers descended from the other side of the bridge, stalking towards his father.
"What is he doing?" Maggie asked.
"He's hurt!" Carl yelled. "I have to goโ I have to go get him!" Carl went to run, but Ivy grabbed ahold of him. "Ivy, what are you doing?"
Ivy shook her head. "I'm not letting you go on there alone!" Ivy told him.
"That herd that went right through Hilltop." Daryl spoke. "He's trying to bring down the bridge."
"No." Michonne breathed out and grabbed her sword. Carl quickly followed her as he gripped his gun.
"We turn them around! Fight 'em back!" Maggie ordered, following after Carl and Michonne. Ivy followed her mother quickly.
Everyone else followed, making their way to the bridge. They all ran through the trees. Ivy and Maggie ran quickly together, trying to get to Michonne and Carl.
They finally caught up to them as they were almost at the bridge. The loud harmony of walker snarls were heard from all around. It was almost deafening.
"Dad!" Carl yelled as they were about to go onto the bridge.
"Rick!" Michonne practically screamed.
Suddenly, the bridge exploded, causing everyone to stop.
It was like the whole world stopped. Everything and everyone went quiet. Ivy couldn't move as she was frozen in place.
Ivy couldn't save the man who saved her so many times. The man who stopped her from ending it all, the man who helped saved her when she got shot, the man that gave her a home, and the man that treated her like his own.
The sound of Carls cries broke her out of her thoughts. "No..." Carl breathed out. Ivy ran over to him and grabbed his waist. "Dad! Dad!"
"No! I gotta... I gottaโ" Carl fell to the ground, and Ivy went with him. His sobs were the most hurtful things anyone has ever heard. Ivy cried into the crook of his neck.
Carl didn't ever break, so it hurt to see him cry. It hurt like hell. It hurt Ivy to see her now husband break, and the man that saved her die.
Maggie didn't even kill Negan...
So Rick died for nothing.
