Chapter Four: Her Birthright

CHAPTER FOUR

(act i )

HER BIRTHRIGHT

"How the mighty have fallen" ~ Anastasia Raven

Timeskip ~ The Next Day

Kindergarten had came and went. I spent most of the day drawing and conserving with Bonnie and Tyler and Elena who joined and tried to take over as self-appointed leader.

After school I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies simply because Bonnie said earlier today she wanted cookies and because my mother raised me well. "Never show up to someone's empty handed, its rude and undignified." She would always tell me, and I always listened to my mother. She taught me grace and elegance and the ways of being a lady.

Sure, I was formal, but I had a old soul and now I was one since I was a 24 year old in the body of a 6 year old girl. So, I probably seemed much too mature for my age, but people would soon to think I was a child prodigy because I would not settle to color in boring pictures and nap time at the kindergarten compared to getting more knowledge on the world around me. Knowledge was power and I needed all the power I could get. I was only human after all.

It was easy to get Liz to agree on the event and drop me off. I stood outside alone making my way to the Bennett residence with a plate of warm cookies did I realize I have no idea what I'm going to say to Shelia.

I stood at the door and rasped my knuckles against the wooden door and anxiously waited. Shelia Bennett softly opened the door and smiled at me. Bonnie informed Shelia I would be coming over. She looked surprised at my tiny form that held the cookies in front of me.

"Good afternoon, Shelia. My name is Caroline Forbes. I made cookies, mother always said to never visit emptyhanded." I softly introduced myself with a beaming smile. Shelia might be old, but she was still a Bennett witch, and I would step quietly.

Shelia just beamed at my formal and respectful behaviour and accepted the cookies with a smile. "Such a respectful lady, your mother is correct. Caroline Forbes you say. Are you sure?" she replied with a knowing look.

My smile turned down into a straight line, "You know? How easy this will be to explain then. You Bennett witches are amazing." I said in a firm but soft voiced.

Shelia just grinned at my difference in behaviour "Thank you, Bennett witches are the most powerful coven of witches to exist" and replied with a proud tone.

"Yes, but how the mighty have fallen. There is only a handful of you left is there not? It's such a shame." I stated.

Shelia just narrowed her eyes at my comment but invited me into her house silently none the less and I nodded my head and walked over the threshold.

"I apologize Shelia, that was rude of me" I said as I surveyed the old room. The room definitely gave a witch vibes. Shelia just nodded at my apology. Bonnie was running down the staircase possibly from hearing voices. She run to me with a beaming smile on her face and just hugged me tightly as if I would simply disappear.

I hugged her back "Hello Bonnie. How are you? I made cookies, you said you were craving cookies." I spoke.

Bonnie squealed and looked at her grandmother as she carefully shook the plate of cookies. Shelia just smiled at her granddaughter lovely and happy she had befriended such a nice person yet dangerous she would have to deal with her.

Bonnie unclasps her hands from my back and ran to the cookies grabbing one and eating it with a large smile on her face with tinkling eyes that would put Albus Dumbledore to shame.

I just watched from afar with a gentle smile on my lips, such a simple thing makes her so happy. I will make her cookies again another day I thought. Shelia watched me with a knowing look and nodded to the couch and I nodded back.

Shelia needed to talk to this person, this unknown, alone. She felt strong but dark magic from the small blonde girl. Her presence was suffocating, dark and angry. She felt similar to a vampire which is why I didn't verbally invite her in which she noticed. Which tells me she knows what bumps in the night. How peculiar she thought.

The ancestors whispered about this anomaly and magic swirled dangerously around her. She needed to be calm and collected, she didn't know how much a threat this young girl was.

Shelia held her granddaughter gently and told her "Bonnie take the cookies to the kitchen and make us a pot of green tea please. I need to discuss something with your friend. Take your time"

I nodded at Bonnie when she looked over at me confused. None the less bonnie happily left munching on her cookie.

Shelia just spread her arm pointing to the brown couches in the corner of the room. I followed her silently. We both sat down and looked at each other with knowing glints.

Shelia broke the silence first "Who are you really? What your name? You're an anomaly." She asked and stated.

I just listened to her questions and stopped at her calling me an anomaly, I stood and said "Let me properly introduce myself. Who am I? Anastasia Raven at your service, dearie." As I bowed and stared into her eyes with a grin that rivalled Rumpelstiltskin. I was channelling my inner Rumpelstiltskin and I was loving it.

Shelia just nodded and replied "Hello. Now what happened. How are you here" as I sat gracefully on the couch.

I just smiled and said with replied with an emotionless voice "I died that's how. I know not how and why I am here. Honestly I was hoping you could help me."

Shelia just quietly gasped, she died how sad, she seems young she thought sadly and what a change in personality though, she's quite sharp tongued as well I thought grimly.

"I know not how or why you are here either, but I will ask my ancestors. I will try to aid you. But I need something in return." Shelia spoke clearly and firmly.

"A deal you say. All right, name it." I spoke happily ready to make a deal.

"You need to keep Bonnie safe. You need to swear you never will hurt Bonnie. Nor tell her what and who you are." Shelia stated with an almost threating tone.

I was happy about this deal; these were things I was already planning on doing but not impressed by her tone. Was she trying to threaten me?

"I would never put Bonnie in danger, I will keep her safe you have my word. But telling her what I am? What do you think I am, hmm?" I replied narrowing my eyes at the end.

What does she think I am? Did the ancestors whisper something they weren't meant to? I questioned mentally.

Shelia replied with narrowed eyes feeling the dangerous spike in her feelings "Why should I trust you? Your word means nothing to me. And what you are is a witch. You have magic I can feel it but it's different – dangerous, and dark. It doesn't feel right."

A witch? Dangerous and dark? I have magic, I have power. Oh my, this is becoming quite interesting. What magic doesn't feel right. I will need to test and read I rant mentally processing that I am in fact magical and not a pathetic human.

That means I'm not on the bottom of the food chain anymore I thought happily.

I reply back to the slightly rude words with a beaming smile "Thank you for informing me. I do not break deals. Bonnie Bennett is my best friend and I love her even with the short amount of time I've know her. She is mine and I protect what's mine from anything. The question that's been on my mind after I noticed Bonnie doesn't know of her magical heritage. Why have you not informed her of anything? I know she is young, but she needs to start training now. She needs to know of the horrors that are outside of the human realm" I stop myself from saying too much.

Shelia takes a moment to think of what I say. I smile comforting at her and she nods whilst quickly saying "Bonnie does not know because she's too young and she doesn't need to know. Magic and the supernatural species destroyed my daughter, I won't let it happen to my granddaughter."

I try to stop myself from scoffing after hearing her excuse. How dare she? "You would do that! Bonnie is the last living descent of the Bennett coven how could you not tell her. You are keeping her from her heritage, nearly a thousand years' worth of history, her birthright. You cannot do this. She will be left unprotected against the supernatural that lurks in the shadows, she will be ignorant in the workings of the world. How could you! This is an embarrassment to nature and your ancestors" I found myself standing and breathing heavily as anger was visible in my stance and tone. I was angry and it was justifiable!

I calm myself down and finish what I had to say "I have seen what happens when people are left out of the knowing of the supernatural that bump in the night in this town. People die and get hurt due to this belief that ignorance is bliss, it's not bliss. It's danger. I am seer, believe me when I say your granddaughter will not be best off not knowing. She needs to know now, and she needs to train. She has so much potential in her veins. You cannot let her stay in this naïve fantasy. Evils will come across this town and raze it too ruins, people will die, Bonnie will die. "

Shelia listens with narrowed eyes, this girl dares question her? But after hearing her she does agree. Magic is Bonnie's birthright. But a seer? There hasn't been a seer in some centuries. Especially one from a human bloodline. They are always from a powerful witch bloodline as there have been multiple seers in the Bennett coven. But if her granddaughter is in danger then she must be trained Shelia thinks scared for her little Bonnie.

"Okay, I will tell Bonnie and teach her magic. But a seer? How?" Shelia responds sadly thinking about losing her granddaughter.

I calm myself with thoughts of Alisha. How to respond to this question? The truth? No, I won't tell her or anyone the complete truth. How agonizing it would be to found out your life was a tv show. I couldn't bring that pain on anyone. I wouldn't know how to deal with that.

"Yes. I am a seer; I've seen the past and the future. I have only seen one possible future timeline though. It is a gory one full of death and pain. Your granddaughter becomes one of the most powerful witch to ever exist. She is to be on par with Qetsiyah your first ancestor. History will repeat itself in numerous ways" I state calmly and mysteriously – unsure how she will deal with the news and the fact I know about Qetsiyah.

After hearing this Shelia has the proudest look I've ever seen. "My little Bonnie. On par with Qetsiyah? She will restore the Bennett coven I'm sure of it. I knew she was special just not this much. I'll start her training immediately. " Shelia rushes out.

I just nod happy it worked out well and the sound of footsteps sound in the room. Shelia and I look each other with smiles.

Bonnie comes through with a pot of hot tea and three cups in her other hands. She places them on the table and smiles at the both of them.

She seems as though she didn't hear any of the conservation I think to myself.

I hear her cutely say "Tea's ready!"

________________________________________________________

i know i keep mentioning Alisha even though she probably won't be a live character.

simply because she's the best way i can explain Anas personality and because Ana loved Alisha so much and she was a huge part in her life and simply won't forget her past life even though she's dead.

Alisha is the only thing that tethers Ana to her old life.

she will be mentioned a lot throughout the story probably.
