"I don't like this." Hermione shook her head in disapproval as the four of you entered a strange room full of large statues. "I don't like this at all."

"Where are we?" Harry asked. "A graveyard?"

"This is no graveyard," Ron stated. He stepped forward and looked around. "It's a chessboard."

Lots of fire started illuminating the place as the three of you followed Ron. Harry looked around until he pointed to a door just across the room. "There's the door."

You and your friends walked forward until the giant chess pieces blocked your way to the door. The four of you stepped back in fear. "Now what do we do?" You asked.

"It's obvious, isn't it?" Ron asked. "We've got to play our way across the room."

Ron faced Harry, you, and Hermione. "Alright. Harry, you take the empty bishop's square. Hermione, you'll be the queen-side castle."

You closed your eyes as you realized where he'll put you. "I'll be on the pawn's square, aren't I?"

Ron nodded. "Don't worry, I'll try not to use you on the game. I'll be the knight."

The four of you went to your places. Hermione looked towards Ron. "What happens now?"

"Well, white moves first. And then... we play."

A white pawn chess piece moved forward just in front of Harry. Ron looked for the chess pieces and his friends as he thought about what to move. Hermione gulped. "Ron, you don't suppose this is going to be like... real wizard's chess, do you?"

Ron pressed his lips into thin line until he ordered a pawn piece. "You there, D5."

The piece moved and the white pawn hit the pawn that Ron used and shattered it into pieces. You and Hermione flinched and gasped in surprise while the boys widened their eyes.

Ron gulped. "Yes, Hermione." He answered her question. "I think this is gonna be exactly like wizard's chess."

You and Hermione glanced towards Ron. "Um, Ronald..." You said. "I would be lying if I said that I'm not scared because I'm placed as a pawn."

"Don't worry, (Y/n)," Ron reassured. "You won't get hurt, I promise."

Ron started playing, concrete pieces were flying around as chess pieces hit each other. In the end, you, your friends, the White Queen, and the White King were the only ones who were left. Ron sighed while Harry looked around until he softly gasped. "Wait a minute!" Harry exclaimed, his eyes were wide in realization.

"You see it, don't you, Harry?" Ron asked, looking at him. "Once I make my move, the Queen will take me. Then you're free to check the King."

Harry had a worried look on his face making me confuse. "No. Ron, No!"

"What is it?" You asked them both, confused.

"He's going to sacrifice himself," Harry replied, looking at you.

Hermione shook her head. "No, you can't, there must be another way!"

Ron sighed and turned to Hermione. "Do you want to stop Snape from getting that Stone or not?"

Hermione looked at Ron, stunned.

Ron then turned to Harry. "Harry, it's you that has to go on, I know it. Not me. Not (Y/n). Not Hermione. You."

Harry took a deep breath and nodded. Ron took also a deep breath and gripped tight onto the chess piece he was on. "Knight to H3."

Ron and his horse advanced to the next square. Ron breathed deep, closing his eyes. "Check."

The White Queen turned, advanced slowly upon him, then drew her sword and plunged it into Ron's horse, throwing him violently to the ground. Your eyes went wide as you controlled yourself from going to him because you knew the game isn't finished.

"Ron!" Hermione screamed. She was about to run towards Ron but Harry stopped her.

"No! Don't move!" Harry yelled. "Don't forget, that we're still playing."

Hermione gulped and closed her eyes. You saw Harry moved three squares diagonally to his left and turned to face the King.

"Checkmate."

And with that, the game was finished. You and your friends rushed towards Ron and knelt down beside him.

"Harry you have to go." You quickly said, looking at Harry.

Harry nodded. "Take care of Ron. Then go to the owlery. Send a message to Dumbledore. Ron's right. I have to go on."

"You'll be okay, Harry," Hermione reassured, smiling at him. "You're a great wizard. You really are."

Harry sighed and looked down. "Not as good as both of you."

Hermione stifled a laugh. "Me? Books and cleverness. There are more important things: friendship and bravery."

"And, Harry, just be careful." You added with a smile.

Harry smiled back to both of you and stood up. You and Hermione nodded and watched Harry ran away to protect the Philosopher's Stone and to stop whoever's after it. Hermione looked down at Ron and held his hand. "(Y/n)..."

You looked at her. "Yeah?"

"I wonder... what happens next if we're in our second year, our third year, and so on?" She asked, her eyes were still on Ron.

You thought about it for a moment. You glanced at Ron and looked up in the direction where Harry went. You shrugged and stifled a laugh. "Maybe lots of adventures and troubles." You answered. Hermione chuckled as well. "But I'm sure, whatever happens, we'll get through it together."

Hermione nodded. "You're right. Come on. Let's get Ron up and bring him to the Hospital Wing."

Harry successfully defeated the man who was after the Philosopher's Stone. To anyone's surprise, it wasn't Severus Snape who was after the Stone but it was Professor Quirinus Quirrell. Voldemort was using his body to retrieve the Stone for himself.

You were talking with Hermione and Ron by the stairs until Harry approached the three of you just under the stairs. You and your two friends turned around to see Harry. "All right there, Ron?"

"All right," Ron replied. "You?"

Harry shrugged. "All right. How about you, (Y/n)?"

You nodded at him. "Good."

"Hermione?"

Hermione smiled in delight. "Never better."

The students gathered around the Great Hall to eat one last meal. The ceilings and walls were decorated into Slytherin flags. It was clear that they have won the House Cup. McGonagall started clinking her glass, catching the attention of the students. Dumbledore stood up and opened his mouth to speak. "Another year has gone. And now, as I understand it, the House Cup needs awarding."Β

Ron looked down as he sighed while Harry remained listening. "And the points stand thus: in fourth place, Gryffindor with 262 points." You softly clapped with the other Gryffindor students while Hermione and Harry placed their palms against their heads in defeat. "Third place, Hufflepuff with 352 points." You clapped for Hufflepuff and got a glance from Peter who was clapping. He suddenly saw you and smiled at you.

"In second place... Ravenclaw with 426 points." You clapped once again for Ravenclaw. "And in the first place... with 472 points, Slytherin house."Β

You heard cheering and screaming from the Slytherin table. Hermione placed her cheek to her palm, Ron crossed his arms, while you clapped as you caught a glimpse of Draco cheering. Snape was clapping as well but his face maintained a poker face.

"Nice one, mate." Draco greeted one of his classmates until his eyes landed on you. You smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up for the good effort and he smiled in return.Β

"Yes, yes, well done, Slytherin. Well done, Slytherin. However, recent events must be taken into account. And I have a few last-minute points to award." Dumbledore announced.

You and Hermione glanced at each other before looking back at Dumbledore. "To Ms. Hermione Granger, for the cool use of intellect while others were in grave peril... fifty points."

You clapped loudly with Ron as you turned to Hermione while Harry patted her back. "Second, to Ms. (Y/n) Stark." You quickly looked towards Dumbledore and froze on your spot. "For using her good heart to help others in need and standing up for her friends while using her wits to good use, fifty points."

Hermione hugged you from behind as Harry and Ron clapped loudly for you. You chuckled and noticed Peter clapping loudly. You turned around to see Draco clapping and a smile forming on his lips. "Third, to Mr. Ronald Weasley, for the best-played game of chess that Hogwarts has seen these many years, fifty points."

Ron softly gasped and his eyes widened in astonishment. He pointed to himself in disbelief as he looked at Harry while Harry nodded. "And fourth... to Mr. Harry Potter... for pure nerve and outstanding courage... I award Gryffindor house sixty points."Β

The students clapped and you grinned towards Harry while Percy patted the boy from behind proudly. Hermione leaned towards the table to whisper to Ron and the other students just beside him. "We're tied with Slytherin!"

"Finally, it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies but a great deal more to stand up to your friends. I award ten points... to Neville Longbottom."

Neville froze on his spot, processing what Dumbledore just announced. The Gryffindor students clapped loudly and cheered for Neville while you patted his shoulder, returning him back to reality. "You did it, Neville!"

Dumbledore smiled and adjusted his glasses. "Assuming that my calculations are correct I believe... that a change of decoration is in order." He clapped his hand and the Slytherin flags changed into Gryffindor flags. "Gryffindor wins the House Cup."

Students quickly stood up and threw their hats above except for Slytherin. After the announcement of the winner of the House Cup and finishing the last meal, students returned to their dorms to gather their things. You decided to read for a bit since you packed things early in the morning and walked towards a tree in the courtyard and sat under there, leaning against the tree while Harry, Hermione, and Ron were packing their things.

No one was around so it was quite peaceful. Most students were busy packing their own things or preparing to leave. You continued to read and noticed someone looking. You look around and found no one until you looked up at the tree and saw Draco Malfoy.

He smirked and jumped down from the tree, sitting beside you. You rolled your eyes with a smile and looked at your book again. "What are you reading?"

"And why are stalking at me while up on the tree. Do you want to be a monkey or a ferret?" You asked with a laugh. "Funny. It has been claimed that ferrets are poor climbers, but in fact, they climb up very well. They just don't know how to climb down, and often fall or jump."

"How come you know such things?" He asked as he looked at your book, trying to find out what you were reading. "And I don't want to be a ferret nor a monkey."

You chuckled and turned the page, to continue reading. "Then why are stalking me from the tree?"

"Upset about the points changing." Draco huffed. "We didn't know that there's a requirement to sacrifice yourself into danger just for some points to win the House Cup."

You sighed. "I was just surprised as you are, Malfoy."

"But I do admit, you deserve those points," Draco confessed. "What Dumbledore said was true."

A smile formed on your lips. "Aww. Gee, Malfoy, you're just making me blush." You teased.

"Another reason why I'm here is that I heard that you were with Potter when you're protecting the Stone." You finally looked at him and saw his grey eyes were filled with concern and worry. "I-I was just worried. When they said that someone's injured, I thought it was you."

You put your book down and hugged your knees as you listened to him. "When I found out it wasn't you, I was relieved but I was still worried if you were hurt."

"Draco Malfoy, the boy who hides his feelings and bullies students, is now confessing what he feels whenever I'm hurt." You smirked while the boy slightly blushed. "Malfoy, I'm fine. And there's nothing to worry about. I can kick arses."

Draco smiled and nodded. "I bet you can do that."

You noticed students coming out of their common rooms, preparing to go home. You sighed. "Well, let's go. Wouldn't want to miss the train."

He nodded and he stood up. He helped you up and walked together as you got your things out and went to the train.

Second year? Coming right up!

Also, I know the first Gryffindor points weren't accurate, and not the same with the original one. The original points were 312 points but for story purposes, I made it lower so the points would still be 482 points :)
