"Hey, you still alive in there?" The mans voice echoed over the radio, Maia narrowed her eyes at Rick and quickly got up but was stopped by knocking his head on a pole.

"Ha!" She let out a laugh as he grunts in pain and gets to the radio. "Hello, hello?" Rick spoke panting and Maia just watched. "There you are, you had me wondering." The man said with a sort of relief.

"Where are you? Outside? Can you see me right now?" Rick asks as the radio beeps. "Obviously he's outside, dumbass, does he look like he's in here with us?" Maia narrowed her eyes breathing heavily, her voice in a sort of whisper.

"Yeah, I can see you, you're surrounded by walkers,that's the bad news." The man explains before Rick says.

"There's good news?" He asks with a small sense of hope.

"No." The man over the radio deadpans. "Listen, whoever you are, I don't mind telling you I'm a little concerned in here." He glances to Maia and she just stares at him.

"Oh man, you should see it from over here, you'd be having a major freak out." The man explains. "You got any advice for me?" Rick asks. "Yeah, I'd say make a run for it." The man said and that caused Rick and Maia to both look at each other with unimpressed expressions.

"That's it, "Make a run for it"?" Rick asks unimpressed. "My way's not as dumb as it sounds, you've got eyes on the outside here." The man starts.

"There's one geek still up on the tank but the others have climbed down and joined the feeding frenzy where the horse went down." The man stops for a second before saying.

"You with me so far?" The man asks before Rick mutters. "So far." before the man speaks again.

"Okay, the street on the other side of the tank is less crowded, if you move now while they're distracted you stand a chance, you got ammo?" The man explains and Rick glances to Maia again, she was just silent.

"In that duffel bag I dropped out there and guns, can i get to it?" He asks. "Forget the bag, okay? It's not an option, what do you have on you?" The man asks Rick.

"Hang on." He quickly checks what he has left in his gun. "Here." Maia unloads her gun and gives him her left over ammo, the bow and arrow on her back slightly poking her.

"You'll need it more than i do." She hands it to him before he gives it back.

"Aren't you going too, it's our chance?" He asks confused. "Listen asshole, i have nothing to live for, for all i know my family is gone, you probably have a wife or something, so take the god damn ammo." She passes him the ammo again.

"A wife and son." He corrects. "See, now take it and go, I have nobody." She spoke in a tired tone, it was evident she was exhausted.

"No, help me, we can go together, help each other." He suggests. "No, go and find your fucking wife or girlfriend or husband and child." She deadpans, her mind barely able to keep up in her exhausted state.

"Come with me and we can help each other..." He dragged out before Maia realizing. "Maia, Maia Koa." She says rolling her eyes. "Maia, we can help each other, help other people." He tries to suggest.

"Uhm, guy in the tank?" The man from the radio asks. "Is it possible to get two people out of here?" Rick asks.

"Wait, there's someone else?" The man asks confused. "Yeah, a woman, can her and i get out?" He asks.

"I'm not going with you." She deadpans. "Yes, you are i'm not gonna let you die." He said and she just glared at him tiredly.

"And if I don't what are you gonna do, arrest me?" She asks sarcastically. "Please, I will never be able to live with the guilt." He says before she rolls her eyes.

"Fine." She mutters and took her ammo back, little did she know Rick had the whole thing being said to the man over the radio.

"Okay, Imma check the guys pocket." Maia got up from her position by the tank 'wall' slowly and moved to the dead army guy sat on the opposite side.

She searched his pockets quick and found a beretta.

"Got a Beretta with one clip." She threw it to Rick and he caught it before telling the man from the other side of the radio. "We've got a Beretta with one clip, fifteen rounds." Rick says.

"Make 'em count, jump off the right side of the tank, keep going in that direction." The man starts. "There's an alley up the street, maybe 50 yards, be there."

"Hey, what's your name?" Rick asks and Maia looks at him in disbelief, "What's his name?" She narrows her eyes at his question. "Have you been listening? You're running out of time." The man spoke almost sarcastically.

"I could of told you that 2 minutes ago." Maia states and Rick gets some metal thing off the side of the tank and Maia, reloads her gun and adjust the bow and arrow on her back, before looking to Rick and nodding causing both of them to make their way to the hatch above.

Maia makes her way out the tank first, her bow and arrow attached to her back, meeting a walker and she pulls her knife out of her pocket and stabs it in the head as Rick makes his way out.

"Come on!" Maia yells jumping off the tank and rolling on her back, with a groan and Rick does the same.

They both quickly get up and start running, Maia however starts running ahead and Rick starts shooting the walkers.

Maia's adrenaline kicked in.

"Hey, Maia, wait up!" He yells holding his side whilst shooting still with Maia in front of him.

"I'm running on maximum 3 hours of sleep and I'm still faster than you!" She yells before stabbing another walker in the head and kicking one in the stomach.

Maia took her bow and arrow off her back and loaded it with an arrow, still running ahead.

Maia quickly comes face to face with a person and yells, he yells back and sees Rick behind her.

"Woah, not dead!" He yells as Rick and Maia hold their weapons at him before they put them down as the man yells. "Come on, come on!"

The now, three people, ran into the alley, constantly flicking their heads back to the metal gate into the alley seeing walkers following them.

"Faster!" The man yells to them however Maia is in front of them both. "I'm ahead of both of you, dipshit!" Maia yelled but slowed down a little so they could catch up to her.

The man ran ahead and ran to a ladder, which he started climbing. "Come on, Come on!" He yelled once more, ushering the two to follow him.

Maia went before Rick and he followed right behind.

Rick shot at one last walker, before he realized he has no more bullets left. "Come on asshole!" Maia yelled to him and the man then looked down and yelled.

"What are you doing? Come on!" which made him start climbing the ladder as walkers started closing in on the ladder.

The walkers all snarled below the three on the ladder, reaching their rotted arms up.

As Maia finally made it to the top of the ladder, she panted and the man helped her step onto the platform.

"Come on, get up." The man helped Rick onto the platform and all three of them rested their arms on the metal railing all out of breath.

"Nice moves there, Clint Eastwood." The man pants out pointing to Rick before looking to Maia and saying. "Don't think i forgot you too, Katniss Everdeen." pointing to the bow and arrow now swung on her back.

"When the hell did you get that?" Rick asked panting. "You aren't exactly observant are you?" She spoke sarcastically, panting.

"So you the new sheriff? Come riding in to clean up the town?" The man asks.

"It wasn't my intention." Rick says and Maia holds her head in her hands leaning on the metal rail.

"Yeah, whatever, yeehaw." The man says and Maia scoffs, which causes him to look at her.

"You're still a dumbass." The man says before Maia brings her head up from her hands.

"Agreed." She says before taking out her knife she had in her pocket.

Rick rolls his eyes at Maia's statement before saying. "Rick. Thanks." He put his hand out for the man to shake. "Glenn. You're welcome." The man, who they now know as Glenn, shakes Ricks hand.

He turns to Maia and asks. "And you, whats your name?" He asks examining her exhausted features, he felt like he recognises her from somewhere.

"None of your business, baseball cap." She says and Glenn widens his eyes before turning to Rick. "Is she always like this?" Glenn asks.

"I don't know, I only met her today." Rick says and Maia rolls her eyes before saying. "So what now, are we just gonna stay here?" She asks the two who turned to her.

"Not until you tell me your name." Glenn adds and Maia looks at him with a glare. "Okay then, no name." He whispers under his breath.

"Oh no." He says looking down, seeing a herd of walkers gathering around the bottom of the ladder.

He goes to the next ladder and looks up and Rick and Maia follow his eyes. "Oh fuck me." Maia muttered, exhaustion clouding her tone. "The bright side..." Glenn starts.

"It'll be the fall that kills us." He ends and Maia gives him a look before, inhaling deeply. "I'm a glass-half-full kind of guy." He states.

"Move it, fox and friends." Maia tells Rick to start climbing before she does and sees Glenn already climbing.

"Are you the one that barricaded the alley?" Rick asked trailing behind Glenn, whilst Maia kept a safe distance from both of them.

"Somebody did, I guess when the city got overrun." Glenn said as all three of them hoped over a wall and started running.

"Whoever did it was thinking. Not many geeks get through." Glenn explained and Rick opened a hatch in the ground.

"Back at the tank, why'd you stick your neck out for me?" Rick asked Glenn and Maia just stood there.

"Call it foolish, naive hope, that if i'm ever that far up shit creek, somebody might do the same for me." Glenn said dropping his backpack in the hatch.

"Guess i'm an even bigger dumbass than you ."He stated. "Why'd you bring her, if I may ask?" He asked stepping into the hatch.

Rick glanced to Maia who was now in front of Glenn. "I mean, she seemed worth saving and we made a deal that if she helped me find my wife and kid, we would help other people." Rick said and Glenn said.
"Wow."

"Fyi I really did not want to." She gave him a look. "He forced me out." Maia said climbing the ladder.

"I heard the argument, over the radio." Glenn stated.
"Dear god." Maia mumbled going down the ladder and Glenn just beneath her and Rick climbs into the hatch and closes it.

As the three adults finally get to the bottom of the ladder they ran and followed Glenn, and saw how he took out a walkie-talkie whilst they ran down some stairs.

"I'm back, got two guests, plus four geeks in the alley." Glenn says into the walkie and sees walkers at the bottom of the stairs and the three freeze to see two people running out with bats and riot suits hitting two walkers down.

"Let's go!" Glenn yelled causing Maia and Rick to follow after quickly.

"Morales, let's go!" A man in one of the suits yelled and the two of them ran inside of the building closing the door behind them.

"You sons of bitches, we ought to kill you." A blonde haired lady, points her gun at both Maia and Rick pushing them into a filled box, her hand remained on Maia's shoulder.

"Get your hands off me, you stupid bitch." Maia pushed the woman off of her before a man says. "Just chill out, Andrea, back off."

"Come on, ease up." Another woman says. "Ease up? You're kidding me, right?" This Andrea lady asks in disbelief.

"We're dead because of these stupid assholes." She points the gun before Maia takes out her gun and points it Andreas head.

"Put the gun down and no one dies." Maia threatens her, "Just back the hell off." Morales says to Andrea and then looks to Maia.

"Put the gun down." And Maia does so.

"Well, pull the trigger." Morales taunts Andrea and she finally puts the gun down. Maia let's her eyes scan the room before hearing Andrea speak. "We're dead, all of us..." She steps back from Rick. "Because of you two."

"Imma fuck her up." Maia looks at Rick. "Maia?" A woman with a ponytail speaks and causes Maia to turn her head to the sound her name.

"Izraella?" She looks at the woman with wide eyes before walking up to her and engulfing her in tight hug and Izraella gave her the same hug back.

Maia quickly let go of her, "My fuck, I thought you were gone." Maia holds Izarella shoulders.

"Same for you." Izraella says with a smile. "Oh my god, you're alive." Izraella says before wrapping her arms around Maia once more.

"You guys know each other?" Glenn asks confused from their interaction. "Best friends." Izraella stated with her arm around Maias shoulder before Maia pipes up.

"Are you done with you little reunion now?" Andrea piped up and Maia bit her cheek already annoyed by this woman, she knew they were not going to get along.

"Maybe if you minded your business, then maybe I would finish hugging my best friend?" Maia spoke annoyed and Izraella rolled her eyes at Andrea.

"Look, blondie, I don't understand." Maia says before a man known as Morales takes her and Rick by the arm and says.

"Look, we came into the city to scavenge for supplies, you know what the key to scavenging is? Surviving." He walks with them in his grip and Izraella tries to protest against Morales holding Maia.

"You know the key to surviving? Sneaking in and out, tiptoeing, not shooting yo the streets like it's the O.K. Corral." Morales spoke before letting them both go in front of a door.

"Every geek for miles heard you popping off rounds." Another man said.

"You just rang the dinner bell." Andrea said looking at the door with tears in her eyes. Maia glared at her through her exhausted eyes, the adrenaline had wore off and the exhaustion was quicking back in

"Get the picture now?" Morales taunted the two and Maia, Rick and the others looked at the door in horror to see a herd of them up against the door. Maia however did not like Morales' taunt and looked at him with a glare.

"I've seen the goddamn picture." Maia pulls her arm away from Morales before stepping closer to him and Izraella getting panicked as she knows she's going to threaten the man.

"Touch me again and you won't have hands, if you try any shit again i will feed you to these things." Maia threatened pointing to the door before Izraella pulled Maia away from Morales keeping her best friend, close to her.

hey guys it's Jada once again!
this is the second chapter of Incapable , I really enjoy writing this book and I hope you enjoy reading it, because writing it gives me joy.
Maia and Izraella have reunited, their relationship will be a topic touched up on in the next chapter and Glenn and Maia finally met!!
I'm so happy, however Glenndale is sort of cautious around her, I mean I would too.
But on that note hope you guys enjoyed this and have a good day, HAPPY MOTHER's DAY!
