"hi, chris. hi, nick," aurora greets them enthusiastically after opening the front door for them. she turns to matt and pauses, "matt."

he rolls his eyes and gives her a fake smile. "you're always so happy to see me, aurora."

"highlight of my day honestly," she says sarcastically, closing the door behind them as they begin to walk off to the living room.

elijah and cameron are already in the living room once they enter the area and they both turn their heads towards the group. "oh shit, you brought the triplets?" elijah asks, sitting up and scooting over on the big couch.

they all share their greetings and aurora ignores the slightly pink tint to nicks cheeks when he says hello to her brother. chris and nick end up next to elijah on the big couch when cameron suddenly turns to aurora. "yo, aurora," he calls out to her, catching her attention and scooting over on the loveseat. "you can sit over here."

aurora immediately begins to blush and nods her head like it's no big deal. she shares a wide eyed look with chris and nick as she walks over to the seat, them sharing the same look and internal excitement as her.

matt narrows his eyes at the exchange, specifically at auroras flustered state as she sits next to her crush. he suddenly walks over to the pair and smiles smugly at aurora. "scoot over."

aurora instantly narrows her eyes at him before pointing to a chair. "there's a seat over there, matthew," she tells him, annoyance clear in her voice as she can tell he's trying to ruin her chances already.

"oh trust me, i know," he says, a smug undertone only clear to aurora and his brothers. "this couch is just far comfier."

"alright," she says calmly, attempting to brutally murder him through her eyes. "fine."

she scoots over only just a tad and matt plops down into the small space she leaves open for him. she clamps her eyes shut in annoyance as a part of his leg is literally on top of her from him forcing himself into the area. she sighs and scoots over even further.

matt smiles at this, knowing he's already won the battle for today.

the smile falters though when cameron shoots aurora a smile of his own and aurora blushes tremendously before giving one back and sharing a look with nick.

he rolls his eyes and turns to the tv, noticing it's currently on the xbox home screen. "yo, elijah," he says, catching the boys attention. "let's play something."

"alright," he nods, getting up from his seat to grab controllers. "anyone else wanna play?" he glances around the room.

"i will," chris says.

"yeah, me too," cameron shrugs.

matt can't wait to absolutely demonlish cameron in whatever game they play. he's not sure what's fueled his secret hatred for him for the past year but it's as strong as ever.

they end up playing call of duty and halfway through the second round, matt sees cameron turn to aurora with a frown in the corner of his eye. "are you cold?" he asks her.

"oh uh," aurora pauses, shrugging. "a little yeah."

cameron nods his head before reaching down to grab a blanket messily placed on the floor. he grabs it and drapes it over the two of them, him not even bothering to ask matt if he's cold also.

matt kills his character while he's distracted.

when he focuses back on the screen, he turns to matt with a scoff. "we're on the same team, bro."

i'm not your bro, bro is what matt wants to say at first.

he instead shrugs. "oops," he says in a monotone voice, no sincerity present in the word as he turns back to the game unbothered.

aurora rolls her eyes, annoyed at matt's childish behavior when cameron's done literally nothing wrong. "sorry," she apologizes for the boy next to her. "he's just in a mood today." matt doesn't even react, practically used to aurora doing stuff like this.

"it's fine," cameron shrugs like matt is literally not right there next to him. "have you ever played before?" he asks, changing the subject as he points to the tv.

"um, no," aurora answers.

"i'll teach you," he tells the girl, suddenly handing his controller to her. matt holds in a groan at this.

before auroras even adjusted her hands, cameron is grabbing her hands and doing it for her. the redness on her face is unmissable and matt already hates this because seriously?

he suddenly turns to them with an annoyed sigh. "i think she can hold a fucking controller, man," he tells him harshly.

cameron narrows his eyes at him before shrugging and pulling away from aurora. "alright, man," he sighs, leaning back in his seat.

matt earns squinted eyes from chris who looks like he's thinking on something but he ignores it and turns back to the game.

he's pissed off for the rest of the day.
