Chapter Thirty Six

Micah

My breath steadied as I clutched my chest. Believe it or not, I'd never looked at Bryson with the same eyes after hearing he'd killed a person and blamed it on his blood brother. And seeing him here, his temper lost, only made me wonder what he could've done to me.

"Are you okay Mic?" Leah rested her hand on my shoulder. I turned to her with my fake smile.

"Yeah, thanks."

Leah and Amahale glanced at each other before looking back at me.

"Don't worry Mic, we'll clean this mess up. Go home and get some sleep." Amahale smiled at me.

I was a bit hesitant at first.

I don't know what I had done to deserve such awesome coworkers and friends.

"Thank you so much, Leah, Amahale." I smiled at them both before leaving.

Disappointment couldn't express how I felt when I arrived at Kristopher's house, only to discover he was still at work.

The cold breeze played along with my face and it really felt like it was drawing little circles on my face.

I phoned Kristopher who was a little bit shocked that I was at his house, he said that he was already on his way home and I shouldn't bother leaving.

Simone opened the gates for me as I walked to one of the many gazebos in the compound. It hadn't snowed as badly as it did yesterday and the compound was surrounded majorly in melted snow puddles.

I rubbed my partially wet boots on the wooden floor of the little hut.

A few minutes had barely gone by before I felt my phone's vibration in my handbag. I pursed my lips, raising the phone to my ear.

"How could you Micah!?" Brianne yelled through the phone. Her voice sounds confused and genuinely hurt. I shrieked a little before moving it away from my ears. I liked my hearing intact as a matter of fact.

"What's wrong?"

She paused for a while, causing me to wonder if the other line had gone dead.

"Don't ask me that!.... No wonder you've been so occupied lately... you know, you could atleast let your best friends know."

My eyes wandered far away, still within the large compound, to a little white kennel by a corner of the four walls. "Know what?" I left the gazebo and hurriedly walked towards the kennel. My suspicions were confirmed when I saw the little adorable puppy I had given Kristopher for his birthday.

It was under a lot of blankets and the kennel looked really cozy. A small smile graced my lips as I stared up at the foggy sky. I just knew it. Kristopher hadn't gotten rid of the puppy, I just wondered how I hadn't seen or even noticed it all these times.

"Don't play Dum Mic. It's everywhere on social media. It's even on the home page of my browser."

I bent down to the little puppy and rubbed my fingers through it's soft, delicate brown fur. Thank goodness it wasn't quivering. "What?"

"I can't believe I had to find out from Social media that one of my best friends is dating a multibillionaire!"

My eyes immediately widened as my smile slowly, but surely disappeared.

"Brianne, I can explain-"

"Just shut up girl!" She squealed excitedly like a little girl. "Give my all the details this evening.. infact let's make it a double date! Luther, Mr Kristopher Lyon, me and you! Infact-"

"Calm down..." I giggled at her enthusiasm. "I'm really not sure about a double date."

Yes.. that was the best I could come up with.

Would you really want me to say ; 'Brianne no.. Kristopher and I aren't a couple, we only went as one to vex Kristopher's ex girlfriend.'?

No thank you

"Why not?"

I shrugged as I left the kennel and slowly began pacing a small part of the compound. "I don't know.. Kristopher doesn't like double dates."

"You're his girlfriend Mic. Convince him."

"I don't know Bri..." I crossed my fingers, silently hoping she'll drop it, but she didn't. She just went about it with a different approach.

"Fine... don't tell him date. Tell him it's a hangout with your friends and thier partners."

I didn't like where this was going.

"It's going to be just eight of us.''

"Eight?"

"...yes Eight. Luther and me, Mr Kristopher and you, Zion and Claire..oh and Tori's got a new special person. We were planning to tell you the other day."

My brows lowered slightly as a small smile embraced my face.
"Really? I can't wait to meet this special person."

Immediately I remembered that I wasn't supposed to be welcoming to the idea of a meet up.

"Seriously Bri, I'm not sure."

"Okay, think about it. I won't rush you, I just hope you make the right decision. It's going to be so cool. See you later Mic." She said hurriedly and before I knew it, her line went dead.

I sighed loudly and stretched out my hands, blowing the few strands of hair that dared to fall over my face.

I was hesitant for the quad date idea. Something was going to go wrong, it just had to. I had a feeling that Zion and kristopher couldn't get along, now they had to spend the whole evening together?

What's even worse is that Kristopher and I aren't really dating but I can't exactly say no to Bri because I'm losing my friends gradually. We never hang out anymore and the whole world practically thinks I'm dating billionaire Kristopher Lyon but I'll refuse to take him on a date with my friends?

This sucks.

My fully occupied mind was too busy lost in thought that I didn't realize when Kristopher drove in.

"Micah," I snapped out of my thoughts seeing him standing Infront of me.  "Come in. It's snowing."

I immediately nodded, walking behind him.
