“I plead not guilty, your honour.”
“The things that the accuser believes to be evidence are merely coincidences,” Kim Seokjin, one of the top Korean lawyers, said.
“What evidence do you have to prove that Kim Seung is not guilty?” The opposition lawyer’s voice was sharp and accusing.
“Ms. Kim was indeed present at the site of the murder, and it's also true that she had a gun. But this isn't enough to prove that she is the killer.” Seokjin looked at the other lawyer before speaking. “No weapons were found at the murder site, and Ms. Kim was quite far from the deceased.”
“Cha Nam-gil was shot in the head, and she was the only person there with a gun. What does this say?”
“This says that your research lacks a lot.” Seokjin smiled at the man.
“Your honour, I would like to present some facts to you now. Ms. Kim has a gun’s license, and the government has track of when she gets the bullets for her gun. Cha Nam-gil was murdered on 13th of December, at around 4 p.m. . Ms. Kim got the bullets for her gun on 12th December. As a suspect, her gun was checked on December 13, at 7 p.m. and it had all the 6 bullets. The 6 extra bullets given to her were also checked, and she had all of them.”
“She could have bought them illegally,” the other lawyer accused.
“The bullets that the government provides have a special mark on them. Isn't it amazing how she had 12 bullets on December 12 and after using one bullet, she still had 12 of them on December 13?” Seokjin said in a mocking tone, looking at the judge while side glancing the other lawyer.
“Your honour, it's a valid possibility that she changed the bullets before shooting Mr. Cha, and when she was suspected, she changed them back to the legally provided ones.” The other lawyer's voice reeked of confidence.
“Law and order do not work on possibilities, Mr. Kang.” Seokjin addressed the other lawyer, Kang Seong-Ho.
“Your honour, I’d like to present a video. Do I have permission?” Seong-Ho asked.
“Yes.”
“Thank you.” Seong-Ho’s companion attached a pen drive to a laptop and passed it to the judge.
“The video that you just saw shows Kim Seung clearly holding her gun. What's the time? It's 3:58 p.m. . And the date? 13 December. It's interesting to note that only 2 minutes before the murder, she was seen taking out the gun from her bag when she was looking at the exhibition previously,” Seong-Ho stated.
The judge looked taken aback; the case was in the favour of Kim Seung, but it suddenly turned against her.
“It's also interesting to note that only 15 people were present in the exhibition at that time, including Kim Seung and Cha Nam-gil. The camera footage from 3:59 p.m. to 4:02 p.m. is not available. It is said that their system went haywire for those three minutes. After that, footage of a dead Cha Nam-gil and shocked people is shown. Kim Seung’s gun is no longer in her hand, and she also appears to be taken aback. The exhibition room blacked out at 4 p.m., exactly for one minute. And the thirteen other people are futile witnesses because they didn't see Mr. Cha being murdered; they only saw his dead body. All this evidence points against Kim Seung.” Seong-Ho side eyed Seokjin after saying everything.
“I plead guilty, your honour,” Seong-Ho finally said with a huge smile.
“Does the accused, Kim Seung, have anything to say against this?” the judge asked.
The judge looked at Kim Seung, the accused businesswoman, sitting calmly in the convict box. She was beautiful; her black hair was a common feature amongst Koreans, but somehow, it looked exceptional on her. She had custom diamond earrings on, and custom made rings also rested on four of her fingers. Her ashy green eyes were her most distinguishable feature.
Seung smiled. She knew what she had to say.
“I would like to ask Mr. Kang one thing. Did he examine the bullet that was retrieved from Mr. Cha’s body? It didn't have the government's bullet mark. Another thing was that I was present inside the room. If the room blacked out for a minute and Mr. Cha was found dead after that, how could it possibly be me? Because like the others, I couldn't see anything either,” Seung said in a simple tone, slightly raising her eyebrows.
“She’s trying to bend the narrative to her benefit, your honour,” Kang Seong-Ho said while switching looks between the judge and her.
“This is the seventh time I’ve been accused of a murder, and the case is being heard in front of the same judge. These seven are from this particular court. There are others from other courts as well. Let's bring the total count; this is the 20th time I’ve been accused of murder. Out of twenty, I was sentenced seven times but came out within hours. The judgement was proven wrong when evidence proved me not guilty. Of those seven times, I had actually killed two people, but all pieces of evidence showed that my life was in danger and any other attack I made was in self defense. If you don't remember your law studies, I will remind you.” Seung slowly and calmly spoke. Her calm was what scared everyone. She stood up from the chair and moved to the middle of the court, right where the lawyers were standing.
"Under Article 21 of the Criminal Act, it is said that a person can be charged as not guilty for an accidental murder if it happens in self defense. For an act as such to be considered self defense, the person must not have provoked or induced the attacker, or should not have attacked first. In those two situations, I had merely defended myself. Thus, those were your lacklustre judgements ignoring this law." She smiled at the judge in a manner so subtle that her message reached him without anyone noticing.
“You have heard my cases seven times before this one and sentenced me two times. I came out of prison within a few hours and was proven not guilty later both the times. So if you do another lacklustre judgement on my case and sentence me, it won't bother me. I’ll be in a special cell with all facilities and will be out around what? Three hours. If anything, that cell serves me like a hotel room; it provides me rest from my hectic life.” She continued speaking, while the judge's hands were sweating and he had a hard time maintaining his posture.
Kang Seong-Ho glared at her. He hated how she was trying to manipulate the case. And he hated more how she was nearly making him lose a case he was close to winning.
“But it would bother you. Another lacklustre judgment, especially against me, would result in your suspension. You will be stripped of your judging rights, no court in South Korea would appoint you. And your law education from Korea, about Korea, is futile in any other country. So I’d suggest that you think before providing your judgement,” she said softly, but with firm pauses.
The judge was nervous; he knew that she was capable of what she said, and he didn't want to lose his job.
“How dare you threaten the judge?” Lawyer Kang was furious.
“It was just a friendly suggestion, Mr. Kang. The hearing is over; please wait for the judgement,” Seung addressed him before walking back to the convict box. She sat down with her right ankle resting on her left knee, relaxing back in a dominant way.
“The court decides that the convict is not guilty.”
After saying that, the judge could finally breathe again. His job was safe. And he was safe, too. Seung's secretary, Baek Hwan, went to give the judge a pass for shopping at any Macher Wiccan centre. He said, "Ms. Kim sent this as your reward."
The hassle was over; everyone walked out of the court. Seokjin and Seung casually talked before Seong-Ho approached them.
“You threatened the judge; you don't have evidence of your innocence,” he said unbelievably. Never had he seen a court case work that way.
“As I said earlier, it was a suggestion.”
“But you are guilty, you killed him!” he exclaimed in anger.
Seung chuckled; she then moved close to him and whispered in his ear, “Yes, I did, who else could?”
All colour drained off his face, and he switched glances between her and Seokjin. She just accepted her crime, yet her lawyer was nonchalant. And why did she lie in court? He felt a fit of fury run through his veins, it was as if the rage had replaced blood.
“You know it, then why did you say all that there?” He loudly spoke, confusing Seokjin.
“You go first, I’ll be there in a while,” Seung said to Seokjin. Seong-Ho tried to stop him but Seung pressed Seong-Ho's shoulder a bit harder than he had expected.
“Alright, be quick, Namjoon’s waiting.”
“Yeah, just a few minutes.”
With that, he walked away, and now she stood in front of the shocked lawyer.
“He doesn't know that I killed Cha Nam-gil. There's no way anyone would. You’re lucky I told you myself.” She laughed.
“Why did you do this? And how did you erase evidence?”
“He tried to harass me in a board meeting, so I killed him. And I didn't even leave evidence to be able to erase it. Those silly things you gathered were intentional.”
“You confessed, and now I'll expose you.” He smirked at her.
“Oh really? See if anything gets recorded.” She crossed her arms across her chest. Her navy blue suit fit her perfectly and accentuated her body, the time spent in the gym showed well. She must have had hundreds of those suits, the pants and blazers with the unique tops or shirts that she always wore. Apart from her business, she was known for her fashion.
Seong-Ho's face was white as chalk, his phone had no recording. In fact, the device refused to function properly.
“You stood up against me in court, tried to have me punished. I knew that you'd try this after the hearing. Good luck fixing that bug.” She patted his shoulder and gave him a challenging smile.
“You’re vile, you’re a monster!” His voice held distaste for her, something that she liked.
“I’d give you a suggestion, like the one I gave the judge. Make enemies within your limits, enemies you can handle. Because I know everything about you, and if you try anything, your job, your family, everything would be gone,” she said dramatically with a smile before lowering her tone and glaring at him. “Everything.”
“You can't threaten me. I’ll get justice for Mr. Cha.”
“Justice for a pedophile? He had kidnapped many young girls and was involved in human trafficking and forced prostitution. I could have left him if it was only about myself, but no, that man deserves anything but justice.” She stared into his eyes, warning him.
“You're a liar!”
"Wait, I don't think I would've left him, even if it was just about me. Any eye that looks at me in the wrong way doesn't deserve to see."
"Are you even listening to me? You're a liar!"
“Shouting doesn't make you right, Mr. Kang,” she gently said before her eyes turned fierce. “Don’t dare yell at me.”
“I’ll collect everything against you, I won't let a killer roam free.” He stared back into her eyes, unwaveringly.
“Try doing it. You really need to learn to know your enemies,” she mocked him while laughing.
“I’ll make your life hell, I promise.” He glared at her, but fear lingered in his eyes, and her calmness and poise frightened him. She was unexpected, and he was welcoming trouble by picking up enmity with her.
“Cool. That's gonna be amazing.” She smiled, the darkness in her eyes was terribly scary, the man in front of her almost shuddered.
“Hell is heavenly to monsters.” Her eyes held the darkness he had never seen, something that reflected evil. She then turned away and walked out, scaring the living daylights out of that man.

How do you all feel about this chapter? It's honestly just an introduction of our protagonist but it shows some important bits about her.
The second chapter should not take long either so just a little time after this one.
