avengers assemble

"come one buddy, wake up" tony stepped up to steve, who was laying on the ground. "that's my man"

"you loose this again, i'm keeping it"

"where's evi?" was the first thing steve asked when he sat up. "what happened? where is she? have you seen her? i thought she'd be sa- save outside"

"i haven't found her yet. and you mess with time, it tends to mess back, come one, we'll find her"

he helped him up to his feet and together they searched the broken building.

after a few minutes they stepped outside, and there was thor, in his arms an unconscious evi

"oh thank god" steve exclaimed while taking his daughter into his arms and searching her for any injuries, besides a laceration at her head, he couldn't make out any obvious ones "thank you thor"

"nothing to thank me for"

suddenly they noticed thanos, who was sitting a few meters away.

"what's he been doing?" asked tony

"absolutely nothing"

"where are the stones?"

"somewhere under all this" tony said "all i know is he doesn't have them"

"so we keep it that way"

"you know it's a trap, right?"

"yeah, i don't much care"

"good, just as long as we're all in agreement"

thunder bolted and thor caught his hammer, while a gasping evi awoke in steve's arms

"shit" she cursed while holding her hand against her head and inspecting the blood on her fingers. "nebula did something with the time machine, she-" it was only then that she noticed all the rumble around them

steve helped her back onto her feet

"oh my god" she exclaimed "what did nebula-" her eyes fell onto thanos form "-do"

"let's kill him properly this time" thor said

they all walked closer to thanos, while steve tried to keep evi behind himself.

"you could not live with your own failure" thanos spoke "where did that bring you? back to me.. i thought be eliminating half of life.. the other half would thrive, but you've shown me that's impossible. and as long as there are those that remember what was... there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be.. they will resist"

"yep, we're all kinds of stubborn"

"i'm thankful. because now.. i know what i must do, i will shred this universe down to its last atom" he got up and put on his helmet "and then with the stones you've collected for me, create a new one, teeming with life, that knows not what it has lost, but only what it has been given... a grateful universe"

"born out of blood" steve added

"they'll never know it" thanos smiled "because you won't be alive to tell them"

"run" steve screamed at evi "find the others and the glove" he told her before him, thor and tony attacked thanos

evi took all the power she had and raised herself up in the air, but stopping midway and sending a last look at her family. the only way to help them was to do what steve had told her

just a few seconds later she was in the tunnels of the destroyed building, running as fast as she could, when she suddenly stopped at a figure on the floor

"clint?" she asked concerned

"evi" clint exclaimed relieved, while taking her hand to stand up

"thank god, you found the-" before she could finish her sentence, nebula stopped next to them

"oh, i know you" said clint and handed the glove to her

"no, we can't trust her"

"don't worry, evi"

but clint was proven wrong when nebula started speaking into her comms system

"father?" she said "i have the stones"

"oh shit" clint exclaimed

nebula held a weapon right in front of his head

"stop" exclaimed another woman that entered the tunnels, she seemed to be some kind of alien. her skin was green and she had dark red hair. nebula stepped behind evi and held the weapon against her head

"you're betraying us?" asked nebula

suddenly a second nebula stepped out as well, clint and evi sat down behind the threatening nebula

"you don't have to do this" said second-nebula

"i am this" exclaimed the other one

"no you're not" the unknown woman shook her head

"you've seen what we become" exclaimed second-nebula while pointing at her head

"nebula listen to her"

"you can change"

"he won't let me" she turned to shoot at the unknown woman, but second-nebula was faster and shot at her

"what is going on here?" asked evi finally after clint had picked up the glove

"i'm the nebula you know, this one is from another timeline and this is gamora, my sister"

"oh my god" evi settled her eyes onto the unknown woman "wait, you're gamora? quills gamora?"

"who's quill?"

"long and uninteresting story" said nebula "and we have other problems, but it's nice to see you two"

evi smiled before she turned to gamora "it's nice to meet you, this is clint and i'm evi"

gamora nodded at the girl

"we should leave, we don't have much time" exclaimed clint, before walking into one of the shafts to get back out

"this thing is like a labyrinth" evi said "maybe you should wait here, i'm faster alone, i can check out the right way"

they all had agreed upon her idea and a few minutes later, evi was back with them, guiding them out.

"you have to turn right and then left, then right one last time and you should see the exit"

"where are you going?" asked clint

"i need to get back to steve, i can't leave him, he needs me"

"okay" clint nodded, he stepped closer to hug the girl "be safe"

"i will, i promise, keep an eye on the glove please" she smiled before rising into the air

a few seconds later, evi came to a halt next to steve. he was standing alone on the battlefield, a whole army in front of them

"this could be hard, the glove is with clint, and i'm- i'm here with you" evi took his hand and squeezed assuringly

"cap? evi? it's sam, can you hear me?" a voice on the comms asked. "on your left" it added

evi and steve turned around and watched as a portal opened

three people stepped outside, evi didn't know them but they seemed to be on their side, suddenly sam or the falcon flew over their heads. another dozen of portals opened

one with doctor strange, drax and mantis. evi smiled at the recognition of her friends and she could see mantis doing the same while waving at her, starlord landed to stand in front of them

and then.. peter. evi could've almost cried of joy, while he smiled at her like he always used to.

a whole army stepped out of another portal and other ships and people followed.

"avengers!" steve called loudly amongst all these people, while taking mjölnir into his hand "assemble"

evi had never been prouder
