 Drake's Lost Diary
❝There must be a beginning of any great matter, but the continuing unto the end until it be thoroughly finished yields true glory.❞ - Sir Francis Drake, 1587

TERESA SLATER WAS not in a good mood. A few days ago, she'd received a call from Victor Sullivan, her father-figure, asking if she could join him on their little adventure to find Sir Francis Drake and now she was tensed up in the co-pilot seat of Sully's plane. Nathan and some reporter called Elena Fisher, had just retrieved Sir Francis's coffin, only for there to be nothing in it, except a notebook and now they were having a shoot off with some pirates.

"Sully? Uh, we got some trouble. Hurry it up." Nathan's voice crackled through the radio. It had been several months since Terry had heard him, he still sounded the same.

"There they are, kid, get ready for a rough landing." Sully informed the girl as they circled the ship that Nathan and Elena were on. The ship blew up and Terry was able to catch a glimpse of them diving overboard a sully landed the plane in the water.

Terry then rushed to open the door at the back of the plane and spotted Nathan surfacing, "Still getting into trouble, I see, Nate." She laughed, grabbing his hand and pulling him into the plane.

"I had everything under control until they blew up the boat." Nathan chuckled back, "Nice to see you, Terry. You sticking around for this one?"

"Most likely." She grinned, pulling Elena into the plane after. "You alright?"

"Nothing that years of therapy won't fix." Elena retorted playfully, breathing heavily from swimming. Though she was a little thankful to not be the only woman onboard.

"Well, if it isn't the beautiful and talented Elena Fisher." Sully charmed, shaking the blonde's hand.

"Flattery will get you screen time." She smiled coyley.

"Yeah, I'm more of a behind the scenes kind of guy." Sully replied, removing his cigar from his mouth and placing a kiss on the back of her hand, "Victor Sullivan."

"And I'm Teresa Slater. But most people call me Terry." The brunette introduced herself, following after Sully and Elena.

Which left Nathan to shut the door of the plane, "Whaddya say we get out of here before we attract anymore attention?"

"No objections here." Terry shrugged, sitting down next to Elena while Nathan and Sully headed to the cockpit. "So, Elena Fisher, did you enjoy your first gun fight with the infamous Nathan Drake?"

"It was certainly exciting." Elena chuckled, looking down at her camera, "I didn't think pirates even existed anymore. It will make a very good story for my show."

"I look forward to watching it." Terry smiled, perking up when she heard Nathan call her over to the cockpit. She gave Elena another smile and excused herself. "Well?" She asked the boys when she popped her head in through the doorway.

Nathan retrieved a small brown notebook from his pocket and held it up, "A little present from Sir Francis."

Sully laughed gleefully, "So you found the coffin?"

Nathan opened the notebook and Terry moved closer to get a better look, "Wait a minute, is this..."

"Drake's lost diary." Nathan finished for her with a smirk. "He faked his death, just like I said, Sully. He must've been onto something big."

"Yeah, well, let's just keep that between us." Sully mumbled, just as Elena came over, handing Nathan his gun back.

"Thanks for the loan, Mr Drake. I think I've earned a look at that diary, when we land." Elena grinned, clearly having heard what they'd been talking about. Terry, Nate and Sully traded looks before shrugging. They hadn't known she was there.

"So look, when Drake sailed into the Pacific, he took the Spanish fleet completely by surprise. He captured their ships, he took all their maps, their letters, their journals - and he recorded everything in this diary." Nate explained to Sully and Terry. They'd landed on a populated island and Elena had been told to wait outside the boat while they talked. "But when he got to England, Queen Elizabeth confiscated all of his charts and logbooks - including this one - and then swore his entire crew to silence."

"Yeah, so this -" Sully tried to talk, but Nathan kept going.

"Y'see, Drake discovered something on that voyage - something so secret, and so valuable, they couldn't risk it getting out."

Sully removed his cigar from his lips and threw up his hands, "All right, Nate - just pretend for a minute that I don't really care about any of that stuff, and ct to the chase, wouldya?"

Nate sighed, flipping through the pages of the notebook, "A man only interested in the climax. You must be a real hit with the ladies."

"Never had any complaints." Sully replied.

"Terry, you were listening, right?" Nathan asked the brunette.

Her head shot down from looking at the ceiling in boredom, "Huh?"

Nathan rolled his eyes in amusement, "Okay then, I'll jump to the good part, just for you. Don't need you falling asleep on me." He got to the page he was looking for and placed it onto the table for them to see.

"El Dorado." Terry mumbled with wide eyes, her yawn turning into a toothy grin as she realised what it meant.

"He was onto something big, all right."

Sully picked up the book, "Does it say anything else?"

Nate took the book back, "Oh, so now you're interested, huh?"

"Yeah!"

"Well, unfortunately no - the last page was torn out. I'm telling you, guys, this is it. This is finally it."

"Yeah, except we got a little problem." Terry pointed out, making their eyes turn to Elena through the window who was having a heated phone call.

"Terry, the girl can hold her own. You shoulda seen her." Nathan defended the reporter.

Sully agreed with Teresa, "Fine, you go on out there and you tell her, we just found the lost city of gold. Maybe her producer can get it on the air tonight."

"Oh, come on."

"Nate, stop thinking with your dick for once and listen." Terry told him, "Do you trust me?"

"Of course I do."

"And do you trust me?" Sully asked.

"More or less."

"Good, 'cause we're gonna have every two-bit scumbag in the world racing us to this treasure, unless we cut her loose right now." Sully explained with a very good point.

"You're a real gentleman, Sully." Nathan sighed in defeat.

"I know. It stinks." Sully quipped back, "She'll get over it."

Elena waved at them through the window while she was on the phone and when she turned around, Sully drove the boat away. Leaving Elena stranded on the docks.

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT IS REAL, I CAN'T REMEMBER HOW TO FEEL.
