The sound of Bellamy's voice carried down the hall, causing Rosie, Jo, and Octavia to quicken their pace. Rosie knew she had been right, that this plan would never work, and it seemed the others were beginning to realize that as well. The three turned a corner, coming face-to-face with Bellamy, Clarke, and another guard whom Rosie couldn't quite place.

"Believe it or not, I'm doing this for your own good." Bellamy lamented as he dragged Clarke along, not yet noticing the three approaching girls.

"Believe it or not," Octavia repeated, raising her elbow to strike down the other guard. As he hit the ground, she drew up her knee and collided it with his face, effectively rendering him unconscious. "I'm doing this for yours."

Rosie's eyes widened at the girl's strength. She exchanged a glance with Jo, who appeared equally terrified and impressed. Violence was not something Rosie enjoyed, but she knew in this moment they were out of options.

"You can't just hit a guard," Bellamy raised an arm, appearing exasperated. He maintained eye contact with his sister for a moment, before letting his eyes wander to the other two girls. His expression held pure disappointment, but Rosie was certain she was mirroring it right back.

"I just did." Octavia stated plainly. "Let her go."

"I can't do that." Bellamy shook his head.

"You're being stubborn." Rosie crossed her arms. There was a time when she loved this about Bellamy, but now it was driving her mad.

Rosie couldn't understand how Bellamy of all people could side with the radicals of the Ark. The ones who had taken his mother from him, punished his sister for being born, and beat down his best friend. He was running on his emotions, not allowing a second to see reason, and turning into someone she didn't quite recognize.

"Like you're one to talk." Bellamy narrowed his eyes at the red head.

Distant chatter interrupted them, stopping Rosie from arguing further.

"Someones coming," Jo acknowledged and placed a hand on Rosie's shoulder. They needed to speed this up if they didn't want to be caught. Guards would be rounding the corner any moment.

"You should go." Bellamy urged them, and for a moment the old Bellamy shone through. The one who would do anything for those he loved. Rosie released Bellamy really hadn't changed at all, that in his mind he was protecting those he loved, and that's what would make this so much harder.

Rosie looked behind her, towards the source of the voices, then quickly back at Bellamy. They needed to move, but they couldn't leave Clarke. In a split second, she knelt to the fallen guard and retrieved his taser. Before Bellamy could question or stop her, she shocked him. She didn't miss the look of betrayal in his eyes as he fell to the ground, or the gasp that came from either Jo or Octavia behind her. They didn't have time to dwell on this.

Clarke moved fast, kneeling down and stealing the key from Bellamy's pocket. Octavia was next to come to her senses, grasping Jo's elbow and beginning to drag her along.

"Follow me!" She urged Clarke and Rosie.

"Did you really just—Is he—?" Jo was stuttering as the ran along, looking back every so often even though they no longer could see Bellamy.

"He'll be fine. Rosie did what she had to do." Octavia silenced her.

Rosie was beginning to feel sick, finally coming to terms with what she had just done. Who was she any more? Certainly not the almost mute girl who had come down to Earth so many months before. Maybe the people of the Ark's perceptions of her were right, maybe she truly was crazy. Only a crazy person would tase their best friend.

Eventually, they rounded a corner and came upon Abby and Kane. The two were pacing, worry lacing their features until their eyes fell upon the girls. Relief flooded Abby's face as her eyes fell upon her daughter, and Clarke quickly rushed into his mother's arms. Jo  and Rosie stood back, sharing another glance as they waited for the reunion to end. It wouldn't be long until Bellamy came to and began searching for them.

"We know what happened, we know what Pike did." Abby told Clarke. "Is there anything we can do to prevent a retaliation?"

Kane was opening a secret panel in the ark, one they would use to escape. Octavia urged Abby to hurry as she began to step inside.

"We came here to give them Pike." Clarke lamented. Without him, there would be no way for them to stop this.

"He's the duly elected Chancellor." Kane stated plainly. "Our people know what they voted for. Besides, he has the guards and all the guns. Can't get close to him."

Rosie's heart dropped. There would be no saving the people of the ark, because they simply did not want to be saved. They wanted this war, they villainized the grounders, and there was nothing they could do to change that.

"We have to think of something." Rosie spoke up, growing desperate. It appeared this was the first time Abby and Kane realized she was there, a look of confusion crossing their faces as they glanced at one another.

"Well, there's certainly no time to brainstorm now." Octavia sighed.

As if on cue, a voice rang throughout the ark, carrying over the loud speakers. Security breach. Lockdown Commencing.

"You all need to go, now." Kane urged.

"What about Lincoln?" Octavia paused.

"You want to help him? Do it from the outside, with this." Kane handed her a walkie talkie. "The range isn't great, so you'll need to stay close. Wait for me to signal to you. Now, go."

Octavia crossed through, and Clarke was quick to follow, but Rosie stayed planted. Jo took a step forward, but upon noticing Rosie staying behind, she paused.

"I'm not going." Rosie answered Jo's question without her even asking it.

"You need to, we don't have time to argue this." Kane sighed.

"No, I'm not leaving John again." Rosie knew this sentiment would be meaningless to them, that none of them were aware what she had been through with him, but she didn't care. "Bellamy won't tell the guard I was involved, I know it. Plus, we need more people on the inside."

"I'll stay behind too." Jo nodded. "Rosie and I can work together."

Octavia and Clarke shared a glance, but there truly was not enough time to argue. They simply nodded, then tore down the hidden corridor out of site. Kane seemed unsure, which didn't surprise Rosie. No one ever trusted her, but she supposed she couldn't really blame them.

"If you're with us, then you need to play this smart." Kane pointed a finger towards Rosie. "Go with Abby now, say you heard what happened to Bellamy and wanted to check if he was okay. If he turns you in, you can't mention any other names and blow this whole thing."

"I won't." Rosie affirmed.

"Figure out how deep in this Bellamy truly is, see if we can't change his mind." Kane ordered finally, then turned his attention to Jo. "Go to the mechanic shop, work like you usually would. Don't come to me, if there's any developments I'll go to you."

With that, the group began to disperse. Jo offered Rosie a small wave, then briskly began to make her way in the direction of the mechanic shop. Abby and Rosie exchanged a glance, then Rosie began to lead her towards the site of the encounter. Kane didn't reveal where he was going, but he left without another word.

When they arrived back, Abby quickly began to examine the previously unconscious guard. He was now sitting up, propped against the wall as he rubbed his head. Thankfully for Rosie, he was reciting to the other guards that he doesn't remember anything, that whoever it was came out of no where, and they hit him good.

"You must have a concussion." Abby sighed. "We'll need to get you back to the Medbay, do you think you'll be okay to walk?" The guard simply nodded.

Pike was there, and he looked angry. His arms were crossed, his foot tapping incessantly against the cool metal floors. Rosie knew she should go to Bellamy, that she should play up an act of worry for the crowd, but she felt frozen. If he did turn her in, what would happen to her? What would John do in her absence?

"I just don't understand." Pike sighed. "All of the grounders are in lockup, who of our people would do something like this?"

Another guard began to help the injured guard up, walking him towards the infirmary. Abby raised and made her way to Bellamy, who was clutching his side in pain. She shot Rosie a meaningful look, one that told her to snap out of it. And so she did.

"Bell," Rosie murmured softly, kneeling beside him. Her voice roused him, causing him to open his eyes and clutch his side tighter. "I heard what happened, are you okay?"

He shot her an incredulous look and opened his mouth as if he were going to speak, only to pause as his eyes traveled to Pike.

"Who did this to you two?" Pike inquired, growing inpatient.

There was a pause. No one spoke. The only sound that filled Rosie's ears was the tapping of Pike's shoe and her accelerated heartbeat. She waited. This was the moment of truth, the moment where she would see if Bellamy and her's relationship was truly damaged beyond repair.

"Clarke." Bellamy finally spoke, his voice sounding strained. Abby paused, feigning shock at the sound of her daughter's name. "Clarke got in somehow, she did this. We were taking her as a prisoner to you when she overpowered us."

Rosie let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding in. Bellamy wasn't completely lost after all.

"Clarke's here?" Abby acted surprised. Rosie was impressed, Abby was better at this than she would have guessed.

"You expect me to believe you truly had no idea?" Pike raised his eyebrows at the woman.

"I didn't, I thought she was still at the capital. Why would she do something like this, I thought you two were friends?" Abby posed the question to Bellamy.

"She's not one of us anymore, Abby. That's why she did this." Bellamy sneered, causing Rosie to wince.

"Well, someone had to help her get in. Go to the infirmary Blake, I'll meet with you later to take your full account of what happened." And with that, Pike stormed down the hall.

Rosie and Abby helped Bellamy to stand, but as soon as he was on his feet he brushed the red head away. He leaned his weight on Abby, and she helped him down the hall towards the infirmary. Through all of it, he could not look at his best friend.

Rosie stood for a moment, frozen in the hall. This was a mess, one with no easy way for them to resolve. Then there was John, the boy whose arms were once her safe haven, complicating things further. While she understood that the fate of Arkadia should be her priority, how could she care about anything but him?

Minutes passed before she finally willed herself to move. She didn't know where to go, this place still felt foreign and cold to her, and John himself felt foreign and cold, too. Still, she needed to see him. His face was the only thing that could stop her from collapsing into a puddle of tears right now.

So, she searched. She went to his room, to the cafeteria, anywhere she could think of, but found nothing. He was in none of the places she would suspect.

Her feet carried her to the mechanic shop, a last ditch effort to ask Jo or Raven if they had seen him. But, much to her surprise, he was there.

Across the room, Rosie saw Raven sitting at a table, her face screwed up in what looked like anger. Then there was John, sitting across from her with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. It was unconvincing, empty, mechanic. Rosie knew his smile, she was almost certain she was the only one who had seen it more than a handful of times. That was not his smile.

Rosie began to approach them, tentatively. She crossed her arms over her chest, feeling unsure of the situation she was about to wade into. As she drew closer, they both noticed her presence.

"Goldsman." Raven acknowledged, her face still set in a scowl.

"What're you guys up to?" Rosie questioned, trying to appear casual.

"I'm telling Raven how she can make all of her pain go away." John responded, his voice airy and distant.

That's when she saw it. A chip, bright blue and engraved, lying on the table between them. Rosie narrowed her eyes, her eyebrows furrowing. It was so small, but it was the answer. It was what had taken the John she knew and loved from her.

"And I'm telling him he's crazy and to stop giving hurt people hope." Raven sneered, snapping Rosie's attention away.

"I'm so sorry," She apologized genuinely to the girl, before turning her attention back to John. "John, clearly she wants to be left alone. Let's go?"

John's smile never faltered, he simply nodded and stood. He picked up the chip, and with one last glance at Raven he spoke again. "Think it over, you know where to find me once you change your mind."

Rosie and Raven exchanged a glance as he tucked the chip into his pocket, then left without her.

Rosie straightened up, watching as the man she loved left without even sparing her a second glance. Even in the way he walked, he appeared different, like he no longer was the man she loved at all. As he rounded the corner and disappeared from her view, she wondered if she'd ever be able to get him back again.

A/N: Well. It's been awhile.

I'm not going to give myself any excuses other than that I'm a grad student and life gets crazy sometimes. But I love and appreciate all of you. I cannot believe that after all these years, so many people are still interested in this story. It's what brings me back.
