MALLORY REN LIVED IN A world of contained chaos, the days were long and the nights endless — hard labour was all she and the other occupants of District Seven had ever known — and yet she got by. The fatigue on her face was always hidden from her two younger siblings and life was good — well as good as life could be under the thumb of a tyrant — and then everything changed. At seventeen she was reaped for the 72nd annual Hunger Games, it was Seneca Crane's first year as Head Gamemaker meaning he had something to prove. This games would be brutal and there would surely be a magnitude of bloodshed, but Mallory was determined for it not be hers.
