( the last day on earth )

PROLOGUE

Dear Shiro,

You've been sent up to space for a week now and honestly, it's been pretty boring without you. Today I took one of the hardest tests at Galaxy Garrison and I actually aced it. All thanks to you. You're the one who pushes me to go forward, in hope that one day we will meet again. I know we will. I know you can get through anything. I miss you.

Cassandra lets out a gasp as she heard the alarms go off. She looked over to her right seeing something flying towards Earth. Her eyes widened as it got closer she saw a strange alien ship flying towards the Galaxy Garrison.

" Attention students. This is not a drill. We are on lockdown! Security situation Zulu Niner." she hears Iverson's voice over the PA system along with the blaring alarms. " Repeat: all students are to remain in barracks until further notice."

" Cassandra!" a familiar voice said. on instinct, she brought her elbow back behind her and hit whoever it was in the stomach. " Ow! Seriously?" the same voice groaned as she turned around seeing she hit one of her best friends and cadet, Cecelia Garret.

Cassandra apologetically smiled at Cecelia. " Sorry." Cecelia rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. " What are you doing out here anyway? This place is on lockdown, remember?"

Cassandra raised an eyebrow." Then why are you both out here?" she asked, changing the subject.

KC Montgomery rolled her eyes as an annoyed look formed on her face. " You were out here writing a letter to Shiro weren't you?" she asked. Cassandra's eyes widened. " What?! No! No, I wasn't. I was just enjoying time by myself." she quickly said but KC didn't believe it since she noticed the letter that was written out to Shiro in Cassandra's hand. Cassandra saw that KC noticed her letter and quickly tried to hide it before Cecelia could notice it but it didn't work.

" Cass, it has only been a week since he has been gone and you're already writing letters to him?" Cecelia questioned and Cassandra's gaze went to the floor.

" You do know that there is no way to send those letters to him, right?" Cecelia asked her and the blonde-haired female nodded with a solemn look on her face. " I know. It just makes me sane writing these letters to him. It makes me have hope that he will return. It pushes me to go forward."

Cecelia smiles while saying, " Awe." thinking it was cute that Cassandra wrote the letters to Shiro. KC rolls her eyes. " As cute as that was, " she said sarcastically. " We probably need to get back inside."

Cecelia was about to agree with KC when she noticed something off in the distance. " Hey, guys what's that?" she pointed to what she was looking at and the other two looked at the direction she was pointing at seeing the same thing.

" I don't know." Cassandra got up from sitting on the roof, folding the letter up and putting it in her pocket. She looks at her two best friends. " There's only one way to find out."

So that's why the three girls are currently running towards a robotic red lion. " Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing or am I seeing hallucinations?" Cecelia asked them as they stopped in front of the lion.

" If you're seeing a robotic red lion, then yeah. " KC said as she started at the lion. " I wonder if it works." she mumbled to herself as she walked towards it.

Cassandra bites her lower lip as worry washes over her. " KC, be careful." she goes to reach out to grab KC's arm to pull her back from the lion but KC was already out of her reach. KC stops walking once she is standing only inches away from the lion and hesitantly raises her right hand towards the top of the nose. She rests her palm against it and closes her eyes, taking a deep breath.

The three girls jump back in surprise when the robotic red lion suddenly let out a roar. The three stare up at the lion in shock and amazement. " I guess it works." Cassandra was the first to break the silence between them.

They watch as the lion lowers down to the ground and the mouth of it opens. The three of them look at each other. " Are we suppose to go in?" Cecelia asked.

Cassandra slowly nods. " I guess so." They walk inside and the mouth of the lion immediately closes once they are in.  As they walk inside they realize the inside of the lion is very similar to the inside of a ship.

Cecelia grinned. " Woah! This is so cool!" The other two nodded in agreement. KC walked towards the chair in the middle of the room and sat down as Cassandra and Cecelia stood on either side of the chair. " This is pretty nice." KC commented as she put her hands on the side of the chair while looking at the control panel in front of her.

They all let out a yell of surprise as the lion suddenly starts flying off. " KC! What did you do?!" Cecelia yelled as she held onto the left side of the chair. KC glared at her. " Why do you suspect it's my fault? I didn't do anything! The lion moved on its own!"

Minutes later they got used to flying in the lion and realized they were in space. " Where is Red taking us?" KC asked. Cassandra looked at her. " You named it Red?"

KC nodded and smiled. " I mean yeah why not. I thought it fit well." Cassandra smiled. " Yeah, it's perfect."

" Guys, what's that?" Cecelia asked as they flew onto a planet and the two look at what Cecelia was looking at to see a castle. Cassandra's eyes widened. She has never seen anything like that before and hasn't heard anything like it either. " It's so pretty." Cecelia said and KC nodded in agreement.

Once Red was on the ground, the girls got out and walked to the door. " Are we suppose to knock?" KC asked and the other two shrugged. The Red Lion lets out a loud roar and the doors open. " Thanks, Red." KC smiled up at the Lion as they walked inside the castle.

" Wow. This is all so fancy." Cecelia commented as the girls walked inside. The three girls froze as a blue aura forms around them as they hear a robotic voice. " Hold for identity scan."

" Why are we here?" Cassandra asks as if it would answer her. She got no answer however, the lights throughout the room turned on lighting up a hallway and some stairs on each side.

" Should we go down there?" Cecelia asks, hiding behind KC who looks at her with an annoyed look and Cassandra shrugs. " Only one way to find out why we're here is to investigate."

She starts to walk up the small set of stairs and down the hallway with KC and Cecelia following her. They follow the light that turns on as they walk down one way. Cecelia called out to see if anyone was there but she didn't get an answer as they got to a room that the door automatically opened once they walked up to it revealing a large room.

" Woah." Cassandra said, her voice echoing off the walls as they walked inside the room. " Where are we?" KC finally asked. Cassandra turns around as she looks at the room as a frown formed on her face. " I'm not for sure. This doesn't look familiar at all."

" Wait, look at this. It looks like it might be a control room." Cecelia spoke up and the two girls walk over to her to see she was standing in front of some sort of panel. It lights up and as they turn around they see four pods rising up from the ground and it looked like they were holding something or someone in there.

" Do you think they're dead?" Cassandra asked. KC shakes her head. " I don't know." They both gasp as they hear Cecelia scream.

" What? What is it?" Cassandra asked. Cecelia pointed at the pods." They're opening!"

The two girls look at each of them seeing that they were opening and it revealed four people. But they weren't normal. They're ears we're pointed, they had strange markings on their faces, they had different colored hair and we're wearing strange clothes.

" Well, " KC said as she looked at her friends. " I can tell things are gonna be interesting from now on."

A/N so sorry for taking so long with this first chapter, i just had trouble starting it out. hopefully the chapters will get better but i hope you guys like it!!
