  ╰┈➤ ❝ [I've been sleeping so long in a 20-year dark night] ❞

THE FAMILIAR ENGINE ROAR of Seo-jun's motorcycle filled Ji-an's ears as she was making her way into the school building. The Kim girl quickly moved to the side trying to avoid getting run over by the vehicle as she watched the motorcycle stop right in front of her. Seo-jun pulled the key out of the ignition taking his helmet off right after, revealing the messy black hair underneath it. Unbothered, he started to fix his hair, not paying any mind to the angry girl standing beside him.

"You almost ran me over, asshole." Ji-an quietly hissed, causing the Han boy to shrug in response as he finished fixing his hair with a last look at his reflection through the glass of his helmet.

"Key word, almost." Putting the helmet on top of the motorcycle, Seo-jun swung his legs over the seat, his feet hitting the ground with a soft thud. "How are you planning to do this fake dating thing?"

Ji-an's eyes widened, looking around. "Could you please lower your voice? Everyone's watching." She whispered, her words made Seo-jun frown in confusion before he finally looked at their surroundings, a look of realization took over his face as he realized all of the students had stopped walking to watch their interaction, a few even taking pictures.

"My bad sweetheart."

Ji-an falsely smiled, deciding to answer the boy's previous question. "All we have to do is make people notice by dropping a few hints. Some students are already spreading rumors in the school's community, so this should be quite easy thanks to the stunt you pulled yesterday in the cafeteria. Then we'll make it official, but they will probably do it for us before we even get a chance."

Seo-jun nodded. "Yeah, that's a good idea."

The Kim girl mirrored his movement before pausing, Seo-jun also did the same, the two teenagers sharing a confused look, "Don't do that again."

He frowned. "What do you mean?"

"You're not supposed to agree with me. I mean I know I'm right, in fact I always am but still it's weird." She explained watching as Seo-jun sighed heavily, obviously annoyed.

"Fine, your plan sucks and I don't think it's gonna work. Happy?" Seo-jun asked, as he played with the keys in his hand.

"Yes."

The Han boy nodded, "Great, then let's get this started."

With that he placed his hands on her shoulders pushing her into the direction of the school's entrance as the students watched their every move. Many whispers surrounded them as the two teenagers walked through the halls side-by-side catching the attention of everyone inside. Slightly uncomfortable, Ji-an looked up at the tall boy beside her, instantly suppressing an eye roll as she saw a smirk starting to form on his lips.

Don't get her wrong, Ji-an liked being in the spotlight which was part of the reason why she liked modeling so much. However this was different, she was accustomed to the loving attention of her fans and the bunch of compliments she received after a photoshoot, not to the judging and envious looks she was earning from most of the girls at the moment.

The same thing had happened years ago when she had made her relationship with Su-ho official. It took about a month and a half for the dirty looks being sent her way to stop. And even then there were some girl's that never stopped, their jealousy obviously getting the best of them.

"Why are you enjoying this?" Ji-an mumbled, getting closer to the boy's side to prevent people from hearing their conversation.

"I'm just imagining the look on Lee Su-ho's face once he sees us." Seo-jun chuckled, looking down at the girl with a shit-eating grin that always annoyed Ji-an to no end.

"If I didn't know any better, I'll say you're looking forward to this whole fake dating thing." The Kim girl lowered her voice even more as she moved closer, resulting in her to stumble with her own foot. If it wasn't for Seo-jun's arm quickly wrapping around her small waist she would've face planted the floor. To others it looked like he had just pulled the girl closer which caused more mutters to fill the hall. When in reality he had saved her from falling into the ground.

"Careful, sweetheart." Seo-jun's voice was soft and low against her ear. He was close, close enough for Ji-an to smell his intoxicating cologne and feel the warmth of his body radiating towards hers. Ji-an attempted to move away and put some distance between them but she was stopped by Seo-jun's hand tightening around her waist, acting as if nothing was happening as he kept his eyes forward, ignoring the prying eyes of the students. "Don't, if you pull away, I'll look suspicious."

Ji-an knew he was right, which made her even more annoyed. "Fine, then walk faster. Being this close to you is literally suffocating me."

"You're the one being clumsy, not me. And also I don't think suffocating is the word other girls would use to describe how it feels being this close to me." Seo-jun said, walking a bit faster than before but not too fast to make it noticeable.

Who told me this was a good idea? Ji-an thought.

"Just shut up and keep walking." The Kim girl said, a sigh of relief leaving her lips as they got closer to the classroom door. The moment the two entered, all eyes went on them, the loud room silencing as they stared at them. Some looked shocked, others just stared in curiosity, this confirming the rumors they heard around the school.

The sudden silence caught Su-ho's attention, looking away from the window, his eyes settling on the two teenagers standing by the door. Slowly his eyes moved to the hand Seo-jun had around the girl's waist, making him bite the inside of his cheek in an attempt to control the sensation that bubbled in his stomach. He couldn't be jealous right? It's not like he was still Ji-an's boyfriend.

Although he was highly aware of it, he couldn't help but think about storming over to the two and just push the Han boy away from the girl that used— or still has his heart. Even if his feelings were all over the place, Su-ho was smart, he knew another fight wouldn't solve anything for any of them. Therefore he decided to ignore the provocative look Seo-jun was sending his way and just focus back to looking out the window, not realizing the painful look Jug-yeong was giving him.

On the way to their seat Ji-an made eye contact with Soo-ah. The girl was looking at her in confusion, probably wondering what the girl was doing with the Han boy. On the other hand, Soo-jin just stared at Seo-jun and Ji-an before moving her gaze towards Su-ho, realizing the girl's intentions as she watched the two take their respective seats.

Shortly after, their math teacher came in, instructing them to take out their notebooks and do the math problems she had written on the board. Not really paying much attention, Ji-an reached inside her pocket and took out her cell phone, sending a quick text to Go-woon asking the younger girl how she was doing.

Sadly since Ji-an's arrival the two girls haven't had the time to hang out at all, given the younger girl hadn't been attending school because she was sick. The two kept contact through the year Ji-an was away, constantly texting and facetiming each other. Even though Seo-jun and Ji-an stopped being friends a long time ago, the two girl's ' relationship never changed. Ji-an has always considered Go-woon as the younger sister she always wanted and Mi-hyang as the mother she wished she had.

"Okay, who wants to solve the next problem?" The question caused everyone to react the same as they all avoided eye contact trying to make themselves look as small as possible to prevent being chosen at all costs.

The teacher sighed, "I'm the fool for asking. What about our math geniuses, the Soo-Soo couple?" She smiled, referring to Su-ho and Soojin. "Come on problem one and two and," She looked around. "our new girl Lim Jug-yeong. Try problem three."

The whole class sighed in relief, including Ji-an. The three named students slowly stood up, the moment they reached the board, Su-ho and Soo-jin immediately started working on their assigned problems while Jug-yeong just stared blankly at the board, completely clueless.

Ji-an decided to zone out for a bit and just doodle on her notebook, not really in the mood to deal with math or more specifically school, at the moment. The girl had always been a very smart person ever since she was a kid. She's good in every course she's assigned, except math. If there's something she's always struggled with and has despised has been that particularly subject. All those numbers and equations were just too much for her. Therefore her parents forced her into having study sessions after school. Which the girl only attended to just to spend time with her friends, given she would receive help from Su-ho.

And before Ji-an knew it, class was over which instantly brightened her mood as she walked over to her friends, while putting her earphones on. Soo-ah gave the girl a look, "What was that?"

The Kim girl raised her borrows, innocently. "What do you mean?"

"You know what she means. Stop acting clueless." Soo-jin whispered, trying to stop Jug-yeong from hearing, which wasn't even necessary as the girl was too focused on looking at Su-ho to notice the conversation happening in front of her.

"I'll tell you guys later, okay?" Ji-an said, making Soo-ah hesitantly nod while Soo-jin stared at her knowingly. "Also I'm planning to go to the library instead of going to lunch. There's some books I need to pick up."

"You're abandoning us?" Soo-ah pout, crossing her arms over her chest. "Fine, go away."

Ji-an shook her head with a small smile "It's only for today, so stop being a drama queen."

With that the girl turned around, turning on her music not realizing a certain someone was calling her. The girl kept walking until she felt a hand on her shoulder making her turn around confused as she stared at Seo-jun, not noticing his shouting after her, caught their classmates' attention, yet again. "What?"

"Let's have lunch together." The boy offered, causing their classmates to gasp as they started whispering between each other not once removing their eyes from the couple.

Surprised by the statement, Ji-an told him the truth. "Um, actually I was planning on going to the library to pick up some books."

"Great, I'll meet you there then." Seo-jun said, flashing the girl a smile which left everyone shocked, including Ji-an who just watched him walk back to his desk in bewilderment.

A sigh left Seo-jun's mouth as he opened the library door, entering inside he scanned the room trying to find the petite girl through the many tables inside the place. There were a few students on some of the tables but overall the room was pretty empty given everyone was in the lunchroom.

As he looked around, his eyes settled on Ji-an, the girl had her head resting on top of her crossed arms, her long hair scattered against her back and face while her bangs covered most of her eyes as she peacefully slept. Seo-jun couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.

Walking towards the girl, he pulled the empty chair beside her, taking a seat on it as he watched Ji-an sleep. Soft snores left her plump lips, her brows slightly furrowed as her chest moved up and down with each breath she took. Seo-jun took out his phone, small chuckles leaving his mouth as he started taking pictures of the sleeping girl.

He snapped multiple pictures, all from different angles, making sure to zoom in on the small trail of drool leaving the corner of her mouth, planning on later on using the photos as a blackmail object if needed to.

Quietly laughing he pushed the hair away from her face, wanting to take a clear shot of the girl's face before abruptly pausing, the smile slowly wiping off of his face as his eyes stayed on the girl's peaceful features. He couldn't help but feel guilty.

This was the way she used to look around him, calm and restful, free of any worry with a warm smile on her face, but now her expression is always guarded and hostile. A product created by his own actions. Actions he so dearly regretted but knew that had been the best at the moment.

His deal with the girl came back to his mind, making Seo-jun wish he could punch himself at the moment. How was he supposed to hide his feelings, now? How was he supposed to keep up with the facade he created years ago?

Suddenly, he was snapped out of his thoughts as the girl stirred awake, making Seo-jun quickly put his phone away, as he watched the girl open her eyes, her frown deepened as her sleepy eyes settled on him. "Such an awful view to wake up to."

Seo-jun rolled his eyes, "I could say the same thing. All that snoring and drooling you were doing would scare anyone away." He chuckled. "I truly feel bad for your future boyfriend."

"I don't drool." Hoping to prove the boy wrong, the girl wiped her mouth, the movement ending up with the back of her hand getting wet with saliva, which made a groan leave her lips realizing Seo-jun was telling the truth.

"What were you saying?" Seo-jun raised his eyebrows arrogantly.

"Don't blame me. I was dreaming of food." Ji-an whined, slowly sitting up in the process.

The Han boy crossed his arms over his chest. "Is there ever a time when you aren't thinking of food?" His question was only answered with a shake of her head.

Smoothing out her hair, Ji-an started tying her hair with the hair tie she had on her wrist as Seo-jun watched her intently. "What are you doing here, anyways?"

"Did you forget? I told you I would meet you here." He said, watching the hair tie Ji-an was using break the moment the girl gave it one last twist. The object flew to the ground right in the middle of their chairs. Both teenagers leaned down, attempting to grab it, Seo-jun being the fastest, picking it up first before moving his head up and coming face to face with Ji-an.

The two only stared at each other, both startled at the proximity. Their faces were so close that anyone watching from afar would think they were kissing. Seo-jun gulped his sharp eyes scanning the girl's pretty features, his heart was beating loudly in his chest causing him to internally go into panic mode. This just proved his previous thoughts. They hadn't started fake dating and his feelings were already getting the best of him.

Snap out of it Seo-jun!

A few seconds passed before Ji-an moved away, trying to break the awkward silence that had fallen between the two, "Yeah, I guess I forgot."

Seo-jun stayed still, before snapping himself out of his daze. "About what?"

"That you were meeting me here, dumbass."

The Han boy nodded, clearing his throat and looking anywhere but the girl sitting beside him. "Right."

Ji-an shook her head not understanding the boy's strange attitude but nonetheless she tried to to change the subject, when her eyes settled on her phone laying on the table. Grabbing it she slid it over to the boy. "Here, put your number on it."

"What?"

"Put your number on it." Ji-an repeated, watching as the boy hesitantly took the phone, quickly putting his number before returning it to the girl.

Leaning back against the seat, Seo-jun raised his eyebrows. "So, when are you planning to give me back my helmet?"

"I'll bring it tomorrow." Ji-an answered, already tired of the boy mentioning the helmet every chance he got.

"You better or-"

"Or you'll what?" Ji-an tilted her head challenging the boy.

He narrowed his eyes, "Or I'll make you regret it."

"I'd like to see you try."
