Chapter 4

I take a deep breath before I enter the cafeteria. I don't want to mess up on my first day of high school. Everything matters. Don't trip. Don't make a scene Sophie. Play it cool. I walk in through the double metal doors.

My eyes instantly search for Dex's red head. I find him sitting near the back of the cafeteria next to Marella. I met her during my second hour class, History. I start walking towards them trying hard not to trip on my own feet. I felt eyes all around me probably because I am new. I avoid eye contact and look ahead.

"Who's the new weirdo?" Somebody sneered behind me.

I knew this would happen. It was inevitable. Someone is going to come over and tease me and I'll be the laughing stock of the 9th grade. Just like elementary school. I didn't turn around to see who the voice belonged to.

"She is a coward too? Not surprising. I mean, look at those jeans. She probably bought them from Goodwill. And her hair? Honey there is a thing called a comb, you should try it next time." She said. I heard some snickering in the background.

"Can you Shut up." I say through my teeth.

"Aww, did i make you mad? Do you want your mommy?" She said in a mocking tone.

I stopped to turn around. The girl had a thin frame and frizzy brown hair. She looked me straight in the eye awaiting my response as if she knows I will most likely chicken out. By this point everyone is also watching this go down.

"Can you back off." I said trying to sound confident.

"You have no right to tell me that, brat. You don't know what you're getting yourself into." She takes a step closer to me.

"I..." My voice falters. I suddenly forget my train of thought.

"That's what I thought." She gives me a dirty look before she sashayed away. I stand there to comprehend what had happened. I just got humiliated in front of the entire 9th grade. I looked down to avoid all the unwanted looks coming my way as I made my way to the back table.

I plopped next to Dex and Marella who looked at me expectantly.

I raised my eyebrows "What?".

"You just made the worst person at this school your enemy. How did you manage that on your first day?" Dex answered, his face still showing signs of shock.

"I have been a living, breathing, walking bully magnet since kindergarten. This is normal for me..." I said the last part quieter.

Marella frowned in pity, and soon that changed into a scheming, evil look.

"I have a wonderful idea...but I need your help." She said finally.

Dex looked at her suspiciously " I don't like where this is going Marella."

"Um, care to fill me in on what we are going to do?" I asked.

Marella looked at me with a malicious grin on her face.

"We are going to get some sweet revenge."

°°°°°°°°°°***°°°°°°°°°°

"Marella we are going to get detention!" Dex whisper shouted to her for the 10th time.

"You are going to blow our cover if you don't be quiet!" She retorted.

"Or we can not risk getting in trouble all together and just forget about this plan." I said hopefully.

"No! We have to get revenge on Stina. I have always wanted to do this prank on her!" Marella said.

Before we planned this crazy prank, Marella had told me who Stina was. And from the way she described her I could tell I made the wrong enemy.

"Okay first we have to somehow get her locker combination..." Marella explained, "but how do we do that?"

"Maybe we could pretend we are her cousin and we need to get something from her locker because she somehow accidentally took it...?" Dex suggested.

"But Ms. Rodriguez already knows who we are so she will know we are lying to her." Marella said.

Then at the same time Dex and Marella had a light bulb moment and looked at me.

"Uh is there something I should know, because you guys are staring at me." I say.

"You can ask her!" They both said at the same time.

I thought of how nice Ms. Rodriguez was when I first came here. It felt wrong to lie to her face just to pull a prank.

"But, she was really nice to me when I first got here..."

"Come on Sophie, can't you have just a little fun." Marella pouted.

I hesitated, "I don't know..."

Dex looked at Marella and she looked back as if they were having an entire argument mentally. By the looks of it, it seemed that Dex had won the argument.

Marella sighed, "Fine, you don't have to ask her. But how are we supposed to do this without her locker combination?"

"How about we do a simple, but classic prank?" I suggested.

Dex nods "Yeah, I think that's better than filling her locker with frogs."

Marella reluctantly agrees " I guess so."

Dex grins "I have a better idea, but I need access to the pipes that go into the girls bathroom."

I looked at him questioningly "It would be nice if you could tell us what you are doing first."

Dex smirked "That would be no fun. I promise you this is a way better prank than Marella's."

"Hey!" Marella playfully glared at him.

Dex motioned us closer "Here is the plan..."

°°°°°°°°°°°°***°°°°°°°°°°°

"Ok I finished redirecting the pipes to the girls bathroom!" Dex exclaimed. Turns out he has a thing for anything to do with mechanics and technology.

"The string is ready and I put the under maintenance sign in front of the bathroom." Marella said.

"And the bucket is secure." I said not sure whether or not I should be proud for doing what I did.

"Now all we need is Stina." Dex said.

"How are we going to get her here?" I asked.

"Easy, we make her mad." Marella states as if it was the most obvious answer. "And I know exactly how."

"We should hurry, our lunch hour is almost over." I said.

"We need to wait for the bell to ring first."

And just on queue the bell signaling the end of lunch, and a flood of high school students came through the door.

"Operation prank Stina is a go." Dex said. We both look at him confused. He blushed "What? I have always wanted to say that."

I smile. What did I ever do to deserve these friends?

°°°°°°°***°°°°°°°

"Hey Stina, what's up with your eye shadow? Did you put it on with your eyes closed?" Marella said. She looked like she was enjoying this.

"Why are you talking to me? Get out of my way!" Stina scoffed and continued to apply her mascara.

"Whatever." Marella walks towards Stina and purposely runs into her. Stina smudges her mascara and screams.

"My makeup! It's ruined!" Stina cried out.

"Oops sorry Stina. You should fix that in the bathroom."

"Ugh!" Stina sashayed past Marella.

Dex and I come out from where we were hiding behind the wall.

"Did she fall for it?" Dex asked.

"Only one way to find out." Marella said.

Just then we heard a high pitched scream that probably belonged to Stina.

"Yup she fell for it." Marella confirmed.

Stina came out of the bathroom with her hair covered in a green colored slime and hands covered in a chunky brownish substance.

"This. Was. You. I just know it!" Stina glared at us.

Marella gives a fake surprised face "What are you talking about? I would never do this."

"I swear-" Stina began.

"What are you kids doing out here? You should be at your 5th period class by now!" Principle Leto booms.

I suddenly internally panic. "Uh, we were...I..."

Marella decided to take over " We were just helping Stina clean up her..mess."

Stina was about to say something but Dex quickly covered her mouth with his hand.

Principle Leto looked at us suspiciously "Okay then, you kids better go back to class in 5 min." He walked away.

Dex removed his hand from Stina's face. She wiped her face in disgust. She glared at us.

"You made the wrong enemy. You will regret all of this." She sneered.

Marella rolled her eyes "Yeah, whatever Stina."

Stina huffed and walked away angrily.

I looked at them "So...that just happened."

"Yeah we should go to class before the janitor kills us." Dex said.

"Yeah I agree, see you later Sophie!" Marella waved as she walked towards her next class.

"See you Sophie! Oh and you should get a late pass. Dr. Clark won't be happy that you're late." Dex said.

"Bye Dex! And thanks for reminding me. You're lucky you have. English next. Mrs. Miller is so lenient."

"Good luck in Chemistry." Dex joked as he walked away.

I sighed as I strode to the office to get my late pass, and as my mind wandered into my imagination I thought of tousled blonde hair and ice blue eyes.

AN: That was a badly written chapter.

It was kind of a filler chapter with a partly forgotten character Marella and my cinnamon roll Dex :)

I hope you guys liked it! Don't forget to comment <3

Until next time,

~Mika :)
