[SEASON THREE: EPISODE SEVEN]
[PART TWO]
"You know, I would really appreciate it if I knew where study hall was?" A voice spoke, knocking on a locker, and made Ethan take a few steps back, in shock. He looked up at the person to realize it was only Johnny, standing there against the locker.
"Sensei? How did you even get through security?"
"Never mind that, I find us a pretty sweet spot for our dojo." He replied.
"Really? That's great!"
"Yeah. How's the recruiting coming?"
"Um...."
"That bad?"
"Everything has changed, Sensei. Cobra Kai, they.... Drank the purple Kool-Aid."
"Purple Kool-Aid? What's wrong with purple Kool-Aid?" Johnny questioned as they walked through the hallway.
"It's just that Sensei Kreese is turning all of them into an army of assholes. And there's no convincing them to leave." Ethan stated.
Sensei's eyes flickered past him, landing on Hawk and his group of friends. He wordlessly brushed past the boy and started walking towards them. Ethan's eyes widened before chasing after him.
"Okay. Listen up!"
The group of kids all turned their heads, giving him, their full attention.
"I screwed up. And I'm sorry. I made it about me. And that's not what a Sensei does. I took the easy way out. I gave up. What happened at this school...." He started, glancing over at the boy next to him.
"It rocked me to my core. I couldn't let myself in the eye, let alone face all of you."
"Yeah. I guess it makes easier to tell yourself that. But the truth is, you bailed on us long before that fight happened. You got soft, and we paid the price." Hawk snapped. Johnny took a few steps forward, getting right in front of his face.
"Now, you listen up. When you come into my dojo. You were softer than a baby's ass. I made you what you are, not Kresse. He does give a shit about you. About any of you."
"So if you wanna keep whining about the past like a bunch of pussies, fine. We can play that. Wanna stick with Kresse? Go ahead. Don't say I didn't warn you when your life ends up in the shitter."
"Or you could sack up and join my dojo."
"Havenhurst and Magnolia, tomorrow at 4:00. If you wanna save yourselves, train the right way. You better be there." The man explained, giving them one last look before walking away.
Back with Daniel and Sam, they traveled to an old gym that was used back in 1985 for the All Valley tournament. Now, it was just there for supporting basketball teams.
"No matter how many times I come back here, I just can't help but feel a little bit of adrenaline."
"That's great, Dad." She nodded her head, knowingly.
"But you still haven't told me why we're here."
"Come here." He replied, walking down the stairs, and made his way over to the middle of the basketball court.
"Right here."
"I know. This is where you beat Johnny Lawrence."
"No. This is where I almost lost to fear."
"What do you mean? When?" Sam questioned.
"It was during my second tournament. I didn't even need to fight in the preliminary round, so I was fresh. I thought I was ready. But, in the final match my opponent was ruthless before I knew it I was down on that mat and the fear had completely taken over."
"I'm afraid!"
"It's okay to lose to an opponent, but must not lose to fear!"
"Luckily, I had Mr. Miyagi there to help get my focus back. I got up and I finished the match."
"I guess Mr. Miyagi always had a way of fixing things." She stated.
"There's no question his advice was something I need to hear." Daniel agreed.
"But ultimately, I had to be the one to get up and do something. I still live with the fear, Sam. We all on some level, and including Ethan, even though he says not he's afraid of anything."
"I just try to not let it win. Sam, you're the only one to get up when you're down. No one else. I promise I will be there, always to help you. Just like Mr. Miyagi was there to help me." LaRusso said, as they embraced each other into a hug.
After they went back home, Sam went to her room and changed into something more comfortable for training. She rushed inside the dojo to began forming kata with her hands.
Suddenly, Daniel opened the front door to notice his daughter was back in action. He smiled happily, walking up to her while watching her.
"I knew you'd be back."
"Oh, really?" She questioned, with a raised eyebrow. He stepped over towards the wall before grabbing two wooden bow staffs.
"Here, catch." The man called out, tossing her one of the bow staffs.
"What's this for?"
"Thought we could do some training together. I mean, you know if you're up for it."
"Show me.... Cast the rod."
"What?" Sam asked, sounding a little confused, as Daniel attacked her with the staff, but she quickly blocked it.
"Nice block."
"Cast the rod. So, the fishing trip was karate training after all?"
"More of a happy coincidence." He replied and started hitting her more until she blocked it more skillfully.
Her father was doing it so fast it was hard to compete against. He started spinning it around radially, as she went down underneath him, rolling over, and blocking it.
"Again, come on."
Meanwhile, Johnny rounded up all of his students, including Ethan too, and they met in the middle of a public park.
"This is day one.... Will be our new dojo. We've been here before. But things are different now. They tried to tear us down. It didn't work! They said we needed a roof and four walls. Screw that!"
"This park will be our new dojo. Cause you don't need a dojo to be a dojo! Is that understood?"
"Yes, Sensei!" The kids replied in unison.
"I started Cobra Kai with one nerd." Sensei said, pointing to Ethan.
"This is a step up. And if we're gonna be taken seriously, we need a name that commands respect. A name that elicits power and dominance. Cobras are strong. They may be king of the jungle, but the world is more than a jungle. And there's one only animal.... That can kill a snake."
"A mongoose?" Bert asked.
"A real animal, Bert." Johnny retorted and turned around, walking over to a cardboard box on the ground. He lifted up the flag, pulling out a red t-shirt.
"Welcome.... To Eagle Fang Karate."
"Uh, eagles don't haveโ" Mitch started, as a shirt was thrown at him. Sensei tossed a shirt to everyone, encouraging them to put them on.
"Anyone else feeling a little bit snug?"
"Do more sit ups."
"Everyone fall in!"
As the kids fall in, Ethan noticed a group of people coming their way. He recognizable that red mohawk, letting him know who it was.
"Sensei, look behind you."
"Still got." He chuckled.
"All right, everybody. Looks like our group just got better bigger, make more room."
Hawk just smirked and turned his head, making the others look as well. Tory and Kyler came into view before Kreese came out of nowhere, with a lot of kids following after him.
"I told you. Cobra Kai for life."
"Don't worry, Johnny. I'm not here to fight." The old man said, standing in front of him and took off his sunglasses.
"Yeah? Then why the hell are you here?"
"I'd like to make you another offer to come back to Cobra Kai where you belong."
"You're crazy if you think I'm ever teaming up with you again. The garage you're feeding, the shit they're pulling, it's messed up. And you're to blame for that."
"I have to disagree with you, there. I cara about my students. They're strong and they're true fighters. And they wouldn't made the mistake of showing mercy and ending up in a coma!"
"You better watch yourself, old man. I smack the shit out of you!" Ethan shouted angrily, stepping forward with Hawk doing the same thing, almost like they were going to challenge each other. Kreese put his hand out stopping the boy, while Johnny did the same.
"This is it, Johnny. There's not gonna be another chance."
"Good." Sensei hissed through his teeth.
"You made your choice and you are gonna regret it." Kreese said, putting his sunglasses back on and walked away from them. His students stayed back for a few seconds, sending smirks to Eagle Fang, before catching up with their teacher.
