[SEASON TWO: EPISODE FOUR]
"You gotta understand that Mogadishu in the 90s was a hellhole. Warlords controlled a lot of the whole great swaths of the city." Kresse stated, as his waved his hands eccentrically.
"My team and I were charged with cleaning the place up." He added, finishing up his war story.
Kresse told Hawk and Aisha a random fairytale from his very old war days, while Ethan sat down on the floor, stretching out his legs.
"How many warlords did you kill?"
"You keep track of ever or anywhere you stomp?" The old man retorted.
"Badass." Hawk mumbled, then she gasped lightly in shock. And, the boy scoffed silently, as he continued his stretches. Kresse launched into another story.
"They were outgunned, we were outmanned. I'll tell you.... Rwanda was no joke?"
"Hey, don't you mean Somalia?" Williams asked, getting up from the floor and furrowed his eyebrows.
"Mogadishu is in Somalia. Rwanda is a completely a totally different country." He added to his statement.
"Yes, of course. Somalia. I've spent so much time in the sandbox, it al kind of bleeds together. You know?" Kresse chuckled humorously.
"LISTEN UP!" Johnny shouted, stepping onto the mat. All of the students turned around and look, while the newer ones were a bit confused.
"I see we've got some new recruits. Everybody fall in!"
Each of them took their positions, as Kresse went off the mat and stood next to the side of the room.
"Let's see what you're made of." Sensei stated, walking down the lines, examining them. Then, he looked over to see a heavyset man with ginger hair wearing a blue t-shirt.
"Sorry, parents can't stay after class. It's an insurance thing." He said, obviously not recognizing him from before.
"I am not a dad. I..... I'm here to kick some ass, sir!" The man yelled loudly.
"Do I know you from somewhere?"
"I sold you that mirror. We kinda of bonded, talked about rock bands." He replied, and the blonde looked down with an aggravated sigh.
"Look you're a little old. This is a class for teenagers."
"Well, I can take them. I'm not afraid of kids, sir. And my mom, she very doesn't charge me rent. So.... I've got a lot of cash to burn."
The man pulled out a folded twenty dollar, showing it to Johnny. He quickly snatched it out of his hand.
"Yeah, well, consider this a trial run." Sensei spat, walking back to the front.
"I thought my last group of recruits was pathetic. But if you do what I tell you to do, then you'll at least have a chance to becoming a real fighter. And to do that, you gotta fight. So, which one of you has the balls to take on the champ?" Sensei asked, scanning around to see if anyone would actually step up to fight.
"I'll take him on."
Everyone turned their heads to see a pretty blonde girl, dressed in a cut-off long sleeve and sweat pants.
"So, you will, huh?" Johnny asked, sounding a little unimpressed.
"I saw your little demo at Valley Fest. You guys can put on a show. Can you actually fight?" She asked, looking around the room with a cocky smile.
"That sounds like a challenge?" Sensei questioned.
"I like a challenge." The girl grinned, and he gave her one last look, before turning back around.
"Mr. Williams, show little miss hotshot here, what Cobra Kai is all about." Johnny said, as Ethan nodded his head and stepped towards the middle.
The rest of them stepped off to the side, while Kresse stood next to his old student, and the girl walked onto the mat. She positioned herself in front of him.
"Hey, are you really sure you wannaโ" He started, both of his arms behind his back, and then the girl ran up to him, kicking him hard in his chest.
"All right. Let's play." Ethan smirked, assumed a fighting stance. She ran forward and threw punches at him, but he ducked, dodging every one. The girl went to stick her leg out, causing him to back up, making her miss.
"The space between us. Get rid of it." He suggested, referring to her failure attempt to land a kick.
She attempted a roundhouse, but he caught her leg just in time, throwing her down on the floor. The girl executed a backwards roll, quickly getting up, then assumed a fighting stance.
She advanced again, choosing to throw her elbow at him. Fortunately, Ethan grabbed it, pushing her down on the floor.
"You're teleporting." He stated, kicking her in the stomach.
"Don't let me see it coming." The boy suggested, as she got up, grabbed him by the waist, and pulled him down.
"Did you see that coming?" She asked, pushing herself up. He wrapped both of his legs around her mid-section, then knocked her downwards.
"Maybe not." Williams panted, getting up to his own feet, and walked over towards the girl, extending his hand out.
"I'm Ethan."
"Tory." She replied, grabbing the boy's outstretched hand, throwing him down, then tightened his arm and shoving his face into the floor.
"With a 'Y'."
Johnny and Kresse shared a unamused look with each other. Tory got off of him and helped him up.
After class was over, Ethan changed out of his gi, then walked out of the dojo to notice Hawk leaning up against a pole, video chatting with Demetri about when Kresse attacked him.
"Stop being such a bitch." He said, looking over his shoulder to his friend, stepping out of the dojo.
"You know what happens to snitches."
"They get immunity."
"Snitches get stitches."
"Don't do anything stupid. You'll regret it." Hawk shook his head, and turned off his phone.
"What's wrong with him?"
"That pussy Demetri couldn't handle training with Mr. Kresse. He's definitely not Cobra Kai material." He said, walking away.
Williams rushed into the dojo and stepped towards the storeroom. He looked up to noticed Johnny writing 'COBRA KAI NEVER DIES' in bolded print. Sensei must've heard the door opened, and turned around to see him, standing there.
"Looks really good."
"I used a level this time." He said, taking a sip of a beer and placing it down on the chair next to him. Then he stepped closer towards Ethan, noticing the worried expression on his face.
"What's up?"
"I'm just worried about Kresse. A friend of mine, Demetri came in and he beat him up. With a couple bruises."
"Demetri....."
"Yeah." Williams said, nodding his head.
"He the mouth one? Yeah, he probably deserved it."
"I know you two are like old friends, but some of the old war stories, he has been telling everyone. They don't add up."
"Look, John Kresse and I go way back. All right? He and I.... It's complicated."
"The guy's got his issues, but everyone deserves a second chance. All right? There's nothing to worry about, I'm on top of it."
"Alright." He sighed, and stepped out to go home, while Sensei was finishing up whatever he was doing in the store room.
Meanwhile, at the Country Club, the LaRusso family, including Robby were trying to find people interested in doing karate, mainly focusing on learning Miyagi-Do.
Daniel was even trying to convince the parents of some kids on how to defend themselves, but it didn't really work out for him. Sam and Robby were lying down on beach chairs near the big pool. She looked up at the balcony to notice Aisha and Ethan with some random girl.
"What is it?"
"It's Ethan and Aisha. We haven't spoken since everything that went down at Valley Fest. I feel like we should clear the air, but I'm still piss at them for ruining our performance."
"I'd say go talk to them. Worst case, if a fight breaks out, we could record it." Robby suggested.
"Who knows, maybe I'll come back with a new Miyagi-Do student." Sam said, getting up from her beach chair.
Williams and Aisha walked down the stairs and went to the buffet table that was set up. There was an assortment of different fruits and desserts, as well as a giant bowl of chocolate mousse, along with some mini burgers and hot dogs.
"Hey." A soft voice greeted next to them.
"Hey." She replied, not even glancing at the girl next to her.
"Sammy."
"How's it going, guys?" Sam asked.
"I'm doing great." Ethan chuckled, and she nodded her head.
"You do realize we're not Okay." Aisha scoffed.
"Why are you so mad about? You guys are the ones who stomped all over our Valley Fest demo."
"Only after your father attacked our dojo. What are we supposed to do now?"
"He didn't attack you guys."
"No? 'Snake in the grass'? Real sublet."
"Look, ladies. I know we all upset about different things, but that doesn't mean we should start yelling at each other. And I'm really sorry about what happened."
"My dad's just trying to do the right thing."
"What, so Cobra Kai is wrong?"
"It's not wrong. It's just...." Sam sighed.
"What are we even doing?" She asked.
"Yeah. It's our summer vacation. We're at the beach and here we are talking about karate."
"When we should be discussing about boys." Aisha stated, and slightly looked over at the brunette.
"Well, that's my case to leave. I'm gonna hit the pool. See you guys!" Ethan said, pulling off his shirt, revealing his four pack abs. He ran down the stairs, then jumped into the pool.
"So, it's just you and abs all summer?" She asked, as both of Sam's cheeks immediately turned red.
They finished up getting their food and went to find a table, mainly for three people.
"So, Robby actually moved into our house." She said, as Aisha looked surprised.
"Your parents let that happen?"
"Well, there's nothing going on. We're just friends."
"Uh-huh. I'm still not gonna tell anyone."
And by the time she had said that, Ethan came up behind Sam, wrapping both his arms around her waist, pulling her up close to his chest.
"Hey, I miss you." He stated, as she looked up at her.
"I've miss you too." Sam said, and they both leaned forward, resting their foreheads against each other's.
"Hey, look what I got." Tory said, coming out of nowhere. She opened her purse and pulled out a bottle of vodka.
"Where did you get that?" Aisha asked, worryingly.
"I swipe from the bar." She replied. Ethan and Sam exchanged worried looks with each other as Tory rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Oh, relax. All the adults are gonna get wasted. No one's gonna notice if we a little fun."
"You should put that back. You'll get in big trouble." The brunette piped up, and she chuckled.
"And you are?"
"Tory, this is Sam." Aisha introduction them to one another.
"Oh, the Sam." Tory stated, sarcastically.
"Come on. Like anyone's gonna miss one bottle of vodka." She scoffed.
"I could swipe half the silverware in this place and no one would notice."
"You shouldn't be stealing anything."
"What are you, a nun?"
"Are we drinking or what?" She asked, glancing between Sam and Aisha.
"Okay, one drink."
"That's my girl."
The two girls walked away giggling, while Ethan and Sam watched them. Then she made her way down to where Robby was and started explaining everything to him as they packed up their things.
"I'm sorry about Aisha." He said, sympathetically.
"I don't really care. She can be friends with whoever she wants."
"Hey, have either of you seen my wallet?" Amanda asked, as she walked over to them and dug thought her purse.
"Wait, you're missing your wallet?" Robby questioned.
"It's gotta be around here somewhere. Can you just spread out? I'm sure it'll turn up." She stated.
"I'll check the beach. Maybe someone turned it into the lifeguard." He said, before hurriedly walking off.
Sam looked around at the chairs, then looked up to notice Tory and Aisha walking by, giggling at something. She glared angrily, then stormed after them.
"Hey!" She called out, stepping behind the two girls. They turned around, swaying a little. Ethan came out of nowhere and appeared beside his best friend, mainly for her protection.
"My mom's missing her wallet."
"Sucks for her." Tory chuckled, making the girl next to her laugh as well.
"You wouldn't know anything about that?" He asked.
"Wait. Wait, what are you saying?" Aisha asked, as her eyes darted between Sam and Tory, who were glaring at each other.
"Just give me the walled and I won't tell security." She stated, threateningly.
"Are you freaking kidding me?"
"Sam, she didn't steal your mom's wallet."
"Right. And she didn't steal a bottle of vodka, also half the silverware."
"Listen, I didn't rob your mom, bitch." Tory said, angrily, moving forward, as they glanced at one another.
"Let's get out of here." She demanded, before turning around. Sam reached forward and grabbed her purse, trying to pull her back.
"Sam don't!" Williams cried out, but he was already too late.
"Get off of me!"
Tory shoved her backwards, causing the brunette to stumble and landed on the table, making it all fall. She looked around for a second, then stormed off.
"Are you Okay?" Aisha asked, as she was now laying down on the floor, covered in food and mousse, looked up at her with a glare.
"Real nice friend you've made." Sam spat out.
"You shouldn't have accused her of anything." She said, looking down at her friend last time, before dashing after Tory.
"Come on. Let's get you back to your parents." He said, helping her up and walking with her back to her parents, to explain why she was like that.
The next day at the Cobra Kai dojo, Johnny was showing his students how to preform a backwards front kick, while Kresse stood up against the wall with a judgmental posture.
"The back thrust kick works like this." He said, demonstrating the move right in front of them.
"What if your opponent attacks you from behind?" Hawk asked.
"Excellent question." Sensei muttered, trailing off to look at his old teacher, standing in the corner.
"Sensei Kreese, you wanna take this one?"
"Certainly, Sensei Lawrence." Kreese smirked, and made some kids smile too. Johnny moved aside in front of Ethan.
"Are you alright with this?"
"There's nothing to worry about." He said, reassuring him, and the teenager trusted his words.
"The key to this move is making your enemies think you're retreating." The old man began, none of them realized that the real trouble was starting to reveal.
"But, just as they let their guard down, that's when you strike the hardest."
