[SEASON FIVE: EPISODE ONE]

In the southern parts of Canada, a large tour bus came to a complete stop, allowing all of it's passengers disembark. Among them was Ethan Williams, a boy on a journey to find his father.

He made his way toward the entrance of a festival, happening right in front of him.

Two women attempted to hand him a necklace as a gesture of welcoming someone new into their hometown, but the boy refused the offer and handed it back to them.

"No, thanks."

He stepped further inside the festival, then pulled out his phone, only to discover that he had no cell service. He tried walking around the place to get some bars, but nothing seemed to be work.

He made his way through vendors offering him several things. Ethan took out his phone and frowned when he saw that he still had no service.

But before he could go any further, a man on his left started walking towards him.

"Hey! Do you need help?"

He had an accent that made the boy wonder if he was Australian. Williams accepted the guy's offer as he approached them.

"Yes, do you think you could help me get to 125 Franklin Avenue?"

"Oh!" The man shook his hand.

"You're in luck. I can show you."

He took out a map while Ethan thanked him profusely, but the boy kept his suspicions high.

"Here you go." The Australian handed the map to him.

"It's not easy to find your way around here."

"Yeah." Ethan laughed a little and nodded.

"Actually, you don't mind giving me some weights, do you? I mean, just because it's my map and all that."

The boy fought against the urge to roll his eyes, shook his head slightly, and agreed surprisingly, before taking out his wallet.

"Alright. How Many?"

"Oh...." The Australian looked back at his friends, shrugging his shoulders.

"Well, does five dollars sound fair?"

"That sounds about fair." Ethan smiled once more.

He took a five-dollar bill and handed it over. The guy gave him the map with the cash in his other hand.

"All right, there you go. And.... how much do you want to pay for the bag?"

Williams frowned in confusion before looking the other way to see that one of the guy's who had taken his bag.

"Hey, what the hell?" He said, taking a closer step towards him.

"Return it, now!"

"Uh-uh." The Australian smiled mercilessly at him.

"I just figure a reward might be in order. Since we found your bag and all."

The boy opened his mouth to speak but then refrained from saying anything.

"Okay. Uh.... How much are you thinking?"

"How much you got?"

After, Ethan emptied all the money from his wallet, the Australian confiscated everything and gave it to one of his associates. Then, he took the boy's wallet and returned only one dollar bills.

"What, didn't you think I would take all your money, didn't you? What kind of monster do you think I am?"

"Oh, and hey. Welcome to Canada." He said sarcastically, winking.

"Yeah, thanks." He spat, walking towards the guy in blue and snatching his backpack from his hands. The boy sighed, glancing at the ground as the group of thugs walked away.

Williams still harbored a very bad feeling about all this.

Meanwhile, back in the Valley, Daniel gathered of his Miyagi-Do students at the dojo to discuss what they were gonna doing to do after the shocking events at the 51th All Valley Under-18 Karate Tournament, with Cobra Kai taking the number one spot and winning the competition.

"Everyone, gather around. It's great to see you all back here." LaRusso announced, as each one of his students stood next to each other in rows of two.

"You know, we had one goal going into the All Valley: Beat Cobra Kai. We walked away with a first-place trophy thanks to Eli." Everyone started capping their hands in applause for Eil's victory.

"As far as the rest of the tournament, well it just didn't go our way. We said we'd close our dojo if we lost. And...." He paused, for a moment, searching for the right words to say.

"That's what we're going to do. As of today, I am shutting Miyagi-Do Karate."

"What?" Sam asked in disbelief.

"Wait. Mr. LaRussoโ€”" Hawk started.

"I know that's not what you were hoping to hear, but with everything going on at Cobra Kai, continuing to operate Miyagi-Do only leaves a target on your backs." Daniel explained to them.

"Guys, I have to keep you safe, okay? Just remember what you've learned. This dojo may be closing, but Miyagi-Do lives inside each and every one of you still."

"Great. Guess I'm getting a summer job." Demetri blurted out as the rest of the students started leaving, leaving only one remaining: Sam LaRusso.

"Dad, this can't be your plan."

"I know you're disappointed."

"I just wanna make things right. This wouldn't be happening if I hadn't lost to Tory. This is all my fault."

"No, Sam. It's mine. With Johnny gone, out there looking for Ethan. It's on me to fix this. I reached out to Chozen because this isn't about a tournament anymore. This is real life."

"But, Dad, I can fight." She tried to reason with him.

"This isn't your fight, Sam." Daniel shook his head in response.

"I know firsthand that Sliver isn't afraid of putting kids in harm's way. And I have to keep all of you out of it."

"So, please, just.... Just trust me on this."

The brunette shook her head in disbelief, took one last look at her father, and then walked away.

Back in Canada, after Ethan was scammed out of his money in exchange for the possible location of his father, he stood in front of a large bar and held up his phone.

Williams inhaled abruptly, before entering inside the building. Inside, he came faced some glances, probably because he was the only non-Canadian person there.

The boy rushed into a dark room to the back of the bar. His eyes widened wide as he positioned himself without hesitation or prior notice, looking at the smoke-filled room with apprehension.ย  ย

While the men sitting around the only table in the small table were looking at him, they were playing a game of poker.

"Hey! Section's closed. The boss is busy."

"Casey, let the boy though."

"Hello, son. I haven't seen you around here before."

"I got just into town. My name's Ethan Williams."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Eddie."

"My mother's name is Elizabeth Jones."

"Your old lady sounds hot."

"She's from Canada."

"What is this? Is something wrong with your head?"

Ethan simply stood there in confusion, looking at the man on his left who appeared to be a bodyguard or something of the sort.

"Casey, get this guy out of here."

"Come on."

The man crossed his arms, clenched his jaw and leaned on the door. Suddenly, he gestured to the backguard extended his hand and grabbed the boy. In a quick reaction, the boy seized the man's arm and twisted it back.

But the guard straightened up and approached Ethan, who deflected a punch and kicked him in the torso, striking him with his feet.

"You gonna let him beat you up, bro?"

"You're brave, Eddie. I'll give you that. Want a beer?"

"All I want is answers. Lois and Elizabeth Jones. You knew them when you lived here."

"Dude thinks he's the boss." The man chuckled before leaning forward and glaring straight at the boy.

"Look, man, I'm not the guy you're looking for. And honestly, I've never known a fucking Elizabeth."

"Now if you don't fuck off, all of these guys you see here are gonna best the shit out of you. So go to fucking hell."

"Sorry, I'm leaving, sir." Ethan said before taking one last look and began to leave the bar.

Back in the Valley, Sam was at Miyagi-Do, wearing a more comfortable outfit. She was replaying a video of how her and Tory's fight during the finals match of the All-Valley Karate Tournament.

She quickly performed each moved she had done before while fighting Nichols, trying to come up with a counterattack to prevent herself from ever losing to someone like that again.

The brunette watched a recording of her and Tory fighting it out. Suddenly, she glanced up at the white Miyagi-Do Gi inside a glass picture frame. Her phone started ringing, and she looked over at the screen to see it was Ethan's contact calling. She immediately answered the call.

"Ethan?"

"Hey, Sam."

"Where are you? Are you okay? I kept calling and, andโ€”"

"Yeah, I'm alright . I just didn't want anyone to know where I was until I found my dad."

"Did you find him?"

"Well, that's actually why I'm calling you right now. The process has been a lot harder than I anticipatedโ€”"

"That's why you're calling?" She questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"Your mom is so worried. You left without telling anyone where you were going."

"Yeah, but if I told you, you'd try to stop me. You know me better than anyone."

"Because we care about you. Ethan, what you're doing is really dangerous. Your mom and grandma left Canada to get away from your dad. They probably did it for a good reason."

"I...." Ethan struggled to find any words to say.

"You're not even gonna ask what happened at the tournament?"

"You knew what it meant for me to face Tory. And yet, you're not gonna ask if I won or lost?"

"Sammy, why are you making this about you right now?"

"I'm not. I.... I just thought you'd be in my corner."

"I've always been in your corner. But what about my corner? You have no idea. There are more important things in life than just karate."

"Yeah, there are." Sam shook her head in disbelief before hanging up the phone.

"You've got to be kidding." Robby stated, after finding out the real reason why he and his father were going on a little 'father-son bonding trip' in the first place: to go up to Canada in search of finding Ethan.

"You have every right to be upset."

"How could you take me up to Canada and not mention once we're coming to get Ethan?"

"Come on, Robby. Let's go to Canada and come back with some stories." He said mockingly.

"I wasn't bullshitting you, Robby. I wanna fix our relationship. And when I heard Ethan was in trouble, I had to do something."

"I just couldn't leave you at home." Johnny shook his head in response.

"I'm done doing that."

"Besides, I need your help to find Ethan."

"My help?" Robby raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Do you even have a plan?"

"Yeah, of course I do." Sensei replied, nodding his head.

"Ethan's looking for Matthew Williams. I know where the kid gets off the bus. That's our first stop."

"And when we get there, what do you plan on doing?"

"I'll ask around if anyone saw Ethan." He answered.

"That's the big plan?"

"Of course not. We come up dry, I'll check the Canadian phone book."

"Oh my God. You drove me over a thousand miles to check a phone book?" Keene sighed frustratedly.

"Might as well put Ethan's face on a milk carton."

"They still do that."

"I could be at home right now with Tory. Coming with you was a mistake."

"All right. I'm sorry, okay?" Johnny sighed.

"I thought this trip would help you and Ethan. Look, when we get to the bus station. If you wanna buy a ticket home, you can."

"I don't want to go home, butโ€”"

"Dad, watch out!" Robby shouted, realizing there was a truck in front of them, that almost costing them their lives.

"Shit!"

Johnny immediately tried to stay on the road, but the van was just too fast. He hit the brakes, causing them to drive off the road and into the woods.

Lawrence got out of the van and went to the back to grab the lug wrench to try and fix their broken tire with a new one.

"Where did LaRusso hide the lug wrench?"

His son sighed frustratedly and pulled a piece of the van off, revealing where the lug wrench actually was.

"I lived in here, remember?"

"Of course I remember." His father took the lug wrench from him and they made their way towards the front right side of the van to fix it.

"How the hell'd you get this car anyway?"

"I went looking for you." The blonde man answered and crouched down on the ground, beginning to remove the broken tire.

"After you went missing, me and LaRusso tried to find you."

"We found this hunk of junk instead. We found some pissant driving it. We chased him to a chop shop. Ended up fighting the douchebags that stole it."

"I had no idea." Robby shrugged.

"I know I haven't been there for you, Robby. More times than I can count. But I've also failed Ethan. Hell, I'm the reason he ran off in the first place."

"I'm out here trying to fix my mistakes so I don't have to live with regret. If you're serious about making things right, you can start by helping Ethan. I know you have regrets when it comes to him."

"I'm gonna call Elizabeth. I'll be right back. Finish taking these off." Johnny said, handing the lug wrench to Robby. As he stepped a few steps away from the van, he pulled out his phone and dialed Elizabeth's number.

"Johnny. Are you at the bus station yet?" She asked.

"Uh.... We had car trouble. Be there in a few hours. Any updates? Hear from Ethan?"

"No, but I did hear from Sam. Ethan called her. He's okay."

"All right. That's great. Did she say where he's going?"

"All Sam knows is that Ethan hasn't found Matthew. Yet."

"I feel sick to my stomach with Matthew having no idea he has a son and Ethan not answering my calls. Maybe I should come down there."

"No, there's no reason to put yourself in danger." He immediately shook his head.

"Who knows what Matthew could do if he sees you again. It's under control. I'll find him, I promise."

"It's gonna be okay."

"Okay." She replied, and with that, she hung up the phone.

Meanwhile, Daniel and Chozen were in his car, parked like a few blocks away from outside the Cobra Kai dojo. They noticed the students were handing out shirts to different people.

"Look at that line. You'd think he's giving away Teslas or something. Picked a good location too. Lots of foot traffic. This is what I was afraid of. Cobra Kai's enlisting kids who have no idea what they're getting into."

"Daniel-san, look." Chozen called out, and LaRusso looked in his direction, catching slight of Sliver sparring with a few of his students.

"What? What is it?"

"I have seen these movies before." He replied.

"You have? Where?"

"Kim Sun-Yung."

As Chozen said that, a flash of memories from when Terry Sliver first met him and Mr. Miyagi started replaying in Daniel's head.ย

"Excuse me. My name is Terry Sliver. My master is Kim Sun-Yung of South Korea. My teacher sends his requests."

"Wait, that's a real person?" Daniel asked, looking confused.

"I thought it was just some mumbo-jumbo Sliver came up with."

"No. He's very real."
