[SEASON FOUR: EPISODE FOUR]
[PART ONE]
On a beautiful Saturday morning at the Miyagi-Do dojo, Daniel, and Mr. Miyagi, were instructing two seven year old children, Sam and Ethan on the basic forms of karate. She was demonstrating how to form kata with her hands to him.
The two men were standing against the dual doors, engaging in casual conversation, while the children practiced together.
"Wait. How do you this kata thing, again?" Williams asked, glancing over at the two adults.
"Let Sam show you how it's done!" LaRusso called out, gesturing towards his daughter.
"Well, it's a good idea I taught you and Samantha." Mr. Miyagi stated, patting him on the shoulder.
"Yeah. I guess the student becomes the Sensei."
"Let me show you." The brunette said, stepping closer up towards Ethan, who immediately started blushing, as she corrected his stance. They stood side-by-side and began following each other's movements.
"Follow my lead."
They both started preforming the kata correctly. Daniel immediately noticed that the boy could do so perfectly with help from his daughter, and she noticed it as well.
"Now, do it by yourself."
She took a couple of steps back so Ethan could preform the movement. He slowly inhaled, then began forming the kata with his hands, followed by a little backflip, obviously to impress her.
"Nicely done, show off." She stated, sarcastically, pulling him closer before kissing him on his cheek. Both the boy and her blushed as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck.
"Guys! I have Lemonade!" Amanda called out from inside the dojo.
"Ooh! Lemonade, let's go!" Sam cheered happily, grabbing his arm and dragging him all the way inside.
"I gotta tell you, Daniel-san. That kid really has potential. But I think there's something more to them than just being friends."
"Wait. What?" Daniel asked, sounding a little confused, following right behind them.
Later in the day, Sam and Ethan were talking about their future aspirations. Mr. Miyagi noticed this and decided to test if he really understood anything they had taught him.
"Ethan, follow me." He ordered, walking away from them and heading over to his Ford Super De Luxe. They both stepped outside as the child got in the driver seat.
"How does it feel sitting inside the car?"
"It feels great. Amazing, actually."
"You do remember me and Daniel-san teaching you the lesson about balance?"
"Of course." Ethan said, and nodded his head.
"Lesson not just for karate only. Lesson for all your life. Whole life have a balance, everything be better. Understand?" Mr. Miyagi questioned, handing the boy a picture of himself with Sam standing next to him.
"I completely understand."
He hopped out of the car and kept staring at the details on the vehicle as the old man went back inside. Suddenly someone came running towards him.
"You about to head home?" The brunette asked, startling him, and he nearly fell down on the ground. She acted quickly, catching him just in time.
"Got you." They both smiled at one another.
"I'm about to leave, Mom wants me home by eight." Ethan said as she rushed towards him, pulling him into a hug.
"I don't want you to go, I want you to stay right here." Sam said, tears slowly started falling down from her eyes. He gently placed his finger on her eyelids, wiping away her tears.
"Hey, look at me."
"If I had to go anywhere in the world.... I'd go with you, because true love doesn't need any proof. Every time I see those beautiful brown eyes of yours, I've always felt completely normal when I'm around you." The boy explained, before kissing her on her cheek.
"Hai!" Daniel shouted as he began training the Eagle Fangs. Johnny made the Miyagi-Do students do push-ups on their knuckles, then he slowly turned his head around, staring enviously at both Ethan and LaRusso.
"Attack!" Sensei instructed, holding up two boxing pads so that the students could practice their punches and kicks. Sam and Chris managed to do it with case.
Suddenly, Demetri landed a right hook kick to the older man's face because he was too distracted, glancing over at his top student being trained by someone else.
"Oh shit!"
"Um, I'm not gonna get in any trouble, am I?" He questioned hesitantly, looking at the blonde man.
"All right, remember, one of the best ways to get a point is to aim for the torso." Johnny explained to them before striking the boy in his stomach. Who was now duct-taped to a punching bag with mattresses surrounding him.
"All right, front kick, side kick. Ready?"
"Sorry." The brunette apologized in advance despite her friend's muffled attitude, and delivered a front kick followed by a side kick to his chest.
"Nice kick, LaRusso! Remember, whip that foot through the target."
She nodded her head. Chris went next, and instead of landing a perfect kick to Demetri's covered abdomen, he completely missed, accidentally kicking him in the crotch. The Miyagi-Do students gasped in shock.
"Oh shit. I missed. My bad, Meat." He muttered, a grin slowly appeared on his face.
"Very good. Suck it up. Tighten that core."
"Good day. You guys showed toughness." The blonde man complimented them, before turning his head to glance at the boy behind him.
"You sure you're okay?"
"Oh yeah. No, they're starting to turn back to their normal color." Demetri replied, with a reassuring look on his face.
"Williams. You hungry? I'll make your favorite. Spicy Manwich, side of steak fires."
"Actually, I'm heading to LaRusso auto shop with Mr. LaRusso. We're gonna finish up fixing my mom's car." Ethan said before stepping up towards the vehicle.
"Sensei." Williams called out. Johnny turned around, thinking he was being addressed, but instead, he was calling out to his original teacher.
"Ready when you are."
The boy opened the door and got in the back seat with Sam, sitting right next to her, while Daniel started up his car, heading to the LaRusso house.
Meanwhile, at the Cobra Kai dojo, the students were waiting patiently for class to start. Robby, Kenny, Tory, and Kyler were all standing in a circle around one another, talking about someone was attacked by a familiar person with a red mohawk.
"Everyone fall in." Kreese ordered, emerging from the back room and stepping to the front as they all got in their usual spots on the mat.
"As you know, our enemies are working together. They combining their styles to beat us and think their best hope of defeating us is with Williams. But they are destined to fail. Because there is only one way. And what is that way?"
"The Way of the Fist, sir!" They all shouted, as the old man nodded his head.
"Exactly. However, that doesn't mean that we can't double down."
"Class, meet Sensei Terry Sliver." He gestured his hand towards the back room. Suddenly, Terry emerged from the doorway, looking at all of them, before walking up to the front and standing next to his friend.
"Co-founder of Cobra Kai and one of the most ferocious fighters in the history of the sport."
"Together, we build Cobra Kai from the ground up, and now he is here to help you prepare for the All Valley." Sensei explained as the two grown men turned to face one another and bowed.
"Thank you, Sensei Kreese. It's an honor to be here."
"With two senseis, you will receive twice the instruction. That means twice the work. And if you are not prepared to put in 200%, then you can leave right now."
"But if you fit in and follow our lead, we're gonna take you to the next level." Sliver stated.
After Daniel and Ethan had dropped Sam off at her house, they went back to the dealership, hoping to fix his mom's car and get it working properly again.
"Never thought I'd learn so much about alternators and power-steering pumps."
"I'm sorry you had to give up a Saturday to work on a car." LaRusso apologized, throwing the dirty rag down onto the toolbox.
"Oh, it's all good. I mean, at least my mom will be happy. She can go out on dates again."
"Maybe we shouldn't have fixed it." Williams chuckled.
"Ah, yeah, I can relate to that." Daniel agreed, nodding his head.
"My mom used to call it 'lunch with a friend'. I hated that. One time, I caught her on a date with Mr. Harris, my history teacher. That was, um.... Talk about awkward. But he gave me an A, though so there's an upside."
"All right, this looks good." LaRusso said, closing the top of the hood.
"Now, it's time for the moment of truth."
"Alright." The boy said before hopping inside his mother's car and putting the key in the ignition, as the engine turned on.
"Success!"
"Look at that! You're a natural." He stated, and got inside the passenger seat.
"Now, we gotta get to a party and meet Amanda and Sam. I'm running late. Let's go."
"Wait? I don't know how to drive." Ethan shrugged his shoulders.
"Oh, well, then I suggest you back us out nice and slow."
"Okay."
They were driving down the street, in Elizabeth's car, singing along to a song playing on the radio.
"That is pretty cool. Who is this?"
"Oh, that's Christopher Cross. He was huge in the '80s." Daniel replied.
"I'm surprised Sensei didn't even tell me about him." Ethan said, sounding a surprised.
"Yeah, well, not everything from the '80s was hard rock. There were some soft rock songs that were just perfect."
"Michael McDonald, Billy Joel, Chicago..."
"What kind of name is Chicago?"
"I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that. It's a yellow light." LaRusso pointed out, but the engine wasn't slowed down; it kept accelerating.
"When you see a yellow light you're supposed to slow down."
"Uh, sorry. It's just usually Sensei Lawrence we kind ofโ" He started.
"It doesn't matter what he does. If you're driving with my daughter, you take the extra precautions."
"You're right. I'm sorry." The boy apologized, blurting it out, nervously.
"I was pretty shaky at first too. Most of the kids my ago had their dads teach them. But for me, well, lucky I met Mr. Miyagi. He made me realize that just because I didn't have a dad didn't mean there wasn't someone who could fill that role."
"But.... The sad part is I do have a father."
"Really? I always thought just you, your mom and your grandma. You ever see him?" He asked, with a raise eyebrow.
"I don't know much about him, I didn't even know what he looks like. He got caught up with something illegal. My mom was pregnant and tried to get him to stop and he wouldn't listen. He was all in it for money." Ethan explained.
"That's why Mom and Louis moved back here. I looked him up. It says he still lives in Canada. But I haven't told my mom about it though. She gets pretty mad whenever I bring him up."
"Ethan, I hated my mom for moving us to LA. I thought she was thinking for herself. But, as I got older, I realized she was doing it all for me. She wasn't just looking for a new career. She was looking for a better life. That sounds like your mom did."
"Yeah." The boy nodded his head.
"It may not seem brave, but sometimes avoiding conflict is one of the most heroic things a person can do." LaRusso stated as they stopped because of the red light, and they both shared a light smile.
