[SEASON ONE: EPISODE ONE]
On a hot Monday morning, after dreaming about losing the All Valley under-18 Karate Tournament from thirty-five years ago. Johnny immediately sat up straight on the bed. Then grabbed a beer can from the night stand and drank the rest of it.
He rose from the bed, entered his closet to select an outfit for today and proceeded from the bedroom to the kitchen. The blonde placed a pan on the burner and fried up a couple slices of bologna.
Johnny walked to the fridge, and another beer, but before closing the door, he glanced at a young photo of his son, Robby Keene, whom he hasn't seen in almost sixteen years.
He settled down at the table and turned on the TV, watching one of his all-time favorite movies, Iron Eagle, reminiscent of his growing up years.
After the movie ended, he grabbed the trash bags and took them out to the dumpster outside his apartment. Just as his nearly reached the dumpster, a teenage kid stopped him.
"Hey, I'm Ethan, My mother and I just moved back into 109." The boy said, keeping a close eye on the man in front of him.
"Great. More people." Johnny said, sarcastically.
"Actually we're from New Jersey." Ethan said, as he followed the blonde to the trash bin.
"Anyways, I was wondering if you were having trouble with your water pressure, cause our sink has been acting weird right now and...." He started, but got sidetracked with Johnny putting the trash in the wrong bin.
"Oh, bottles go in the blue ones."
"Listen, boy. I've lived in this shithole for over ten years. The pipes don't work, and every fountains is full of piss. The only good thing here is that I don't have to talk to anybody or even look. So, nice knowing you." Johnny said, as he picked up the tool box and walked back inside the apartment.
"Okay, well.... have a nice day.... I guess." Williams said, before walking back to his mother's house.
Later in the day, after Ethan was done with playing Call Of Duty and meeting his new online friends, his mother asked to get some medicine for their dog.
He walked over to the mini-mart that was a few blocks away from home, as he opened the door, he noticed the person from before, standing over the counter, waiting patiently for his food.
"That one." Johnny said, pointing at the pizza slice.
"Aren't you gonna wear gloves?" He asked the cashier, who looked at him weirdly, when a familiar voice stepped had in.
"Can you put that on a plate?"
"My dog's not feeling well." Williams said, as they both of them waited in line.
"Didn't ask. What's Spanish for just give me my damn slice?" Johnny asked, as the cashier glared at him.ย
"I don't know." The boy answered his question, before the man spoke.
"I speak English, asshole." The cashier said, as the blonde quickly grabbed the slice of pizza and walked out of the store.
A group of teenage boys came out of their car and stepped inside the store. Johnny slowly sat down on the edge of the cement and began to eat his pizza slice. He was arguing to a homeless lady about something random.
"What the hell are you doing? Why did you blow up my spot?"
A black haired asian boy named Kyler and his friends were pushing Ethan out the doorway, but kept antagonizing him.
"I didn't know you were trying to buy beer, dude. I'm sorry!" He yelled, as the bully forcefully shoved him down.
It wasn't long before Kyler started to pour some pink liquid on the boy's head, as the others trapped him around in a circle.ย
The blonde learly knew this wasn't his fight, but he didn't feel guilty just sitting on the ground and not even helping the boy out.
"Asshole." Ethan mumbled, quietly, as
the asian boy turned around to face him.
"Now you're in trouble." Kyler said, angrily, before landing a punch in the boy's stomach, as he tried to ran away, but Brucks threw him into Johnny's red car.
"Hey! Watch the car, man!" He yelled, standing straight up from the floor.
"Who's this guy?"
"Just leave the dork alone." Johnny said, pointing over at Ethan.
"You see this guy? Eating his dinner at the mini-mart like a bum."
It really didn't take a genius to figure out that the blonde was getting angry by the second.
"Wait, I think I know this guy. He's the jerk that cleaned my dad's septic tank." Kyler laughed.
"Then, that explains why he smells like shit."
And with that, they all laughed again, as Ethan walked to the side of the store.
"Trust me, you are pissing off the wrong guy on the wrong day, all right?" Johnny shrugged his shoulders.
"Really?" He questioned, before getting up in the man's face.
"Yeah, really." The blonde nodded his head.
"Get the hell out of here, loser." Kyler laughed, as he shoved the man backwards. And before anyone could say anything, Johnny kicked him straight in the face, shocking everyone.
"Holy shit!" Someone yelled, as the group backed away in fear. After that moment, the other three boys lunged at him.
He shoved one of them, and punched another, then kicked the last one in the stomach. Kyler tried to attack Johnny again, but that was stop by a kick and kicked another boy's leg away.
Brucks pushed him up against a post and had him pinned, until the blonde man punched the boy off of himself, then shoved him into a random car.
"Holy crap. How did youโ" Ethan started, as the fight only stopped for a second and Kyler attacked him from behind. When he finally got the boy off of his back, as watched them all lay down on the ground.
"Is that all you got, ladies?" He asked.
"Ky, let's just go." One of his friends said, as
the boy didn't listen and charged towards the older man. Kyler swung his fist at him, but he ducked underneath him, just in time and started taking the rest of the boys out one by one.
"What's the matter? Having trouble breathing?" Johnny said, and started choking the boy.
Suddenly a bunch of blue lights appeared as police cars pulled up in the parking lot.
"Hey! Get off the kid!" The cops had sprayed pepper spray into the man's eyes, causing him to scream out loud in pain.
"It's not he's fault!" Ethan yelled.
"Go home, kid!" The officer shouted, as he watched them take Johnny away in a squad car.
The very next morning, Ethan was standing by his front door, waiting for the man from last night to return. Then, some random strange people entered the apartment, including a very annoying man in a nice suit.
He was watching a video on his phone, as time passes. After what felt like hours, Johnny's red firebird pulled up into the parking lot.
"Hey, I just wanna thank you." Ethan said, as he trailed behind the man.
"All right, well, you said it." Johnny responded.
"So, last night, was that like Tae Kwon Do or maybe even karate?"
"You're very right. It's old school karate."
"Do you think you could teach me?"
"What? No."
"Come on. When school starts back up, those guys will make my life miserable." He pleaded, while he grabbed his mail.
"It's not my problem." Johnny instantly shut him down again, but the boy wouldn't stop.
"Look, if I knew a little to what you knew,
then I would beโ"
"Forget it. I don't do karate anymore. All right? Besides, I need to find a job."
"Well, you could open your own dojo." Ethan suggested.
"It's called a karate dojo."
"You could open your own dojo?"
"Look, I'm not getting into this with you.
I'm not even sure I'm allowed to be around kids right now. All right, you want my advice? Stop being so annoying. Maybe you'll stop getting your ass kicked." He said, and stepped inside his apartment.
"Damn it." Ethan mumbled out, before walking away.
An Uber drop Johnny off at the LaRusso's dealership. He pulled his hood over his head and walked towards the front entrance. Just as he entered the showroom, he kept staring
at a Audi Sedan, until a salesman approached him.
"How you doing? Would you be interested in one ofโ"
"No." He interrupted him, and made his way over to a woman, sitting down at a small desk.
"Hi, I just need to pick up my car." The blonde said, pulling out a piece of paper from his pocket and gave it to the woman.
"I'm in a bit of a hurry."
"Oh, this came in, last night? It'll be a couple of weeks, but we'll call you with an estimate." The woman said, as she placed the crumbled up piece of paper down.
"No, my car was not supposed to come here.
I want it towed to a different body shop." Johnny shook his head in disbelief.
"Why? We have the number one service team in the Valley. We beat all prices. We kick the competition."
"Can you hurry it up? I gotta go." He said, and kept staring around at the place, looking impatient.
"Um, it says your car is one of our intake lots. I'll figure out which one."
"You know what? I'll just come back tomorrow." Johnny said, as he turned back around and started walking towards the exit door, He almost made it but was stopped by a familiar voice.
"Johnny?" Daniel asked, as the blonde froze up in shock.
"Johnny Lawrence! I.... I knew it was you!"
"Hey, man."
"Oh my god, look at you. This is crazy. How have you been?" He asked surprisingly, and was shocked to see him in his dealership.
"Great, man. Thanks, I've been great."
"Anoush, come here! Louie, get over here!
I want you to meet somebody."
"I'm gotta go." Johnny said, as he tried to run for the door.
"No, no, no. This is Johnny Lawrence."
"He and I go way back. Right, buddy? This guy was the toughest kid in my high school." He said to tother two men, who was standing right next to him.
"We got into a little bit. This guy really had it in for me."
"Well, you did move in on my girl." Johnny said, darkly.
"Well, she actually wasn't really your girl anymore, was she?" Daniel asked, before bringing the attention back towards himself.
"All right. That's all water under bridge."
"Wait. Is this the karate guy, the guy from the tournament?" The man asked.
"Oh, this is the guy whose ass got kicked."
"Listen, it was really a close match. But if you wanna get technical about it. I.... kicked his face." Daniel said, pointing both of his hands at Johnny's face. The two salesman walked away, and had to deal with customers, who started coming into the store.
"So, What brings you in? You're looking for a new ride?"
"He wants his car towed to a different dealership."
"Oh no, Johnny. We've got the best prices in town. That crook at Coles on Van Nuys, he'll try to screw over."
"A Pontiac? Firebird?"
"Wow, someone did a real number on this thing. Maybe it's time for a upgrade. Why don't we walk the lot?"
"I just want my car." Johnny said, angrily.
"All right, all right. You got it, all right? Let me see how low I can get this repaired."
"Friends and family of my very own personal code. You know what? It's on the house."
"No way. I don't need your charity." He said.
"No, you'd be doing me a favor. Our guys aren't use to working on a car like this. They could really use the practice. You could use the repairs. This is a win-win."
"I said I'll handle it."
"Okay, but it's.... John, it's gonna cost more than what the car is worth. Listen, don't worry about it. It's my pressure, all right?"
"All right." Johnny nodded his head.
"Okay? Just hang here for a second. I got something for you." He said, and turned around to walk over towards the front desk. Then, he left and suddenly appeared a teen girl. Johnny noticed the girl and didn't take it too lightly.
"Hey, Johnny, wait up!"
As he turned around,ย LaRusso handed him a small tree.
"Every customer gets one. And hey, I don't blame you for what happened back in the day. All right, I know that wasn't you. It was Cobra Kai. We're all better off without it, am I right?" He said, as Johnny had this look on his face, then a idea popped inside his head.
"Take care of yourself, and I'll call you when the car's ready. Okay? It was great seeing you." Daniel said, walking away from him.
He stepped outside, and as he reached the parking lot, Johnny dropped the small tree onto the ground. He called an Uber and went back home.
As he got back home, and saw Ethan outside the apartment buildings handling some recycling, Johnny approached him from behind.
"Are you sure you're ready? Cause once you go down this path, there's no turning back." He said, as Williams looked at him in shock.
"Are you sure you're gonna be my karate teacher?"
"No, I'm going to be your Sensei."
"I'm going to teach you the style of karate that was taught to me, a method of fighting your pussy generation desperately needs. I'm not going to teach you how to conquer your fears."
"I'm going to teach you, how to awaken the snake inside. And once you do that, you'll be the one who's feared. You'll build strength, and when the time is right...."
"You'll strike back."
