you let out a soft sigh just as kaito guides you into the small diner you're all going to eat at. the warm feeling that filled your chest is gone now that jirou has logged off and you already want to text her and tell her you want to talk more. you don't know her much — at all really, but she gives off such a comforting vibe that you naturally are drawn to her.

now you're heart is heavy as you climb into the booth beside kaito, sitting stiffly as everyone begins to engage in a conversation that makes your blood run cold and has you grinding your teeth in fury.

"rate that girl's rack over there, kai," a brown haired girl; akira, nods towards a girl who is sitting across from a guy, smiling widely and unaware of your friend's judgement. "if you can even fucking see any. she's as flat as a board."

and you're as pretty as a pile of shit, is what you want to say but you bite your tongue last minute.

kaito's lips widen into a smirk as he lazily leans back in the booth, his muscular arm coming around behind your head to rest his long fingers daintily on your shoulders. his cobalt hair flies down into his eyes as he turns this head to examine her.

"think the guy she's with has the rack for her." he comments lowly and everyone breaks out into chuckles, minus you.

you fucking hate when they do this, judge people and rate people based on their bodies and looks. it's so disgusting and it sickens you to the core that you can't find the courage to stand up to them, to tell them they're wrong — that they're horrible human beings. even if you love kaito as a friend, he's a dick and you can't understand why you can't just open your mouth and tell them what you really think about them.

but it's because you're a coward; everyone knows it.

hell, you know it and have for a long time.

everything hurts and you close your eyes momentarily to hold back tears when you hear; "they turn straight people gay when they see them."

kaito says nothing, just staring at you with a blank look. whenever the insults get heavier, get more personal — kaito stops laughing and joking. but he doesn't stop them, never would and never will.

does he even care about you? probably not.

it must be clear to anyone who passes your table that you're uncomfortable. you're constantly snapping a "leave me alone" but nothing works. you're getting more and more worked up and you're afraid you'll snap, burst into tears of sorrow and frustration and storm out of the diner like the pathetic and weak person you are.

why can't you just stand up for yourself? where was the confidence you had a week ago when you flirted with those two boys to buy time? where was the (y/n) that threw their smoothie at bakugou when he insulted you? where was that person you knew you could be?

why can't you just stand up to your fucking friends?

just as you're about to burst into tears and freak out, an unknown voice cuts through the insults and harsh teases that surround you; drown you even.

you snap your head up and lock your teary gaze with a pair of bright, golden eyes that are filled with concern, and your mouth nearly drops at who you see.

standing in front of your table with a mischievous smirk is none other than kaminari denki, accompanied by a stoic todoroki shouto who awkwardly stands behind him.

and judging by the mischievous smirk that's widening on kaminari's face, shit is about to go down.
