Author's note: So, I know in TVD when Stefan became a human every person he has compelled gets their memories again. I think that was incredibly pointless and consisted of many plot holes because when Katherine turned into a human there were no mentions of people remembering anything

For him, Spiderman and Peter had always been two different people - Peter was shy and clumsy while Spiderman was anything but. The only place where he could be both had become to be known as his home- the Avenger's compound. He was comfortable in his own skin there- he wasn't that unique among super soldiers, geniuses, mutant's etc.
He wasn't a freak over in this place- he belonged and that's probably why sometimes it was easy to forget what he was there to do.
When people think about the Avenger's compound, they don't actually understand what happens behind the walls they can see- figuratively and literally.
As funny as it may be, the Avengers were without a doubt still young at heart. Steve loved to play video games with Natasha and Peter, Bucky had a strange obsession with baking them cookies everyday and Clint had made himself a home in the vents- so much so that Laura once had to come from the farm to ask him not to be so incredibly foolish. Sam had a tendency to prank the residents of the compound (except Natasha and Pepper because let's face it- they are scary) and the rest were always on about with their own things.
It was easy to forget sometimes that these people's lives actually revolved around dangerous situations.
It was easy to forget how easy it was for them to die.
Peter walked next to Steve and Wanda as he made his way to the debriefing room, staying out of all kinds of conversations because of his thoughts. The last time they were called into the debriefing room like this was because Mysterio was back for revenge- apparently Quintin wasn't very fond of what Peter did during his vacation in Europe and it had ended with Peter seeing his nightmares all over again.
In all honesty, Peter thought Nick Fury was to blame.
The superhero found his way to the table, sitting in his usual seat which was between to Tony and Natasha.
It felt just like a typical meeting to Peter, at first. Someone always talking about important information he was supposed to remember being said but he knew he wouldn't so KAREN was recording, mildly debating on subjects at times, and basically just an hour to an hour and a half long ordeal that Peter was sure could be summed up in five minutes. He did try to pay attention for the most part, seeing as he was there so he might as well listen, even if it was boring as hell.
Tony turned his eyes at Peter who looked ready to doze off, "Kid, you gotta listen or Fury will throw a fit again and I have not had enough coffee for that."
Peter gave a soft laugh, "It will be hilarious though."
"Parker," Nick Fury's voice cut off through the room, "Got something to say?"
Peter coughed hiding his laugh at seeing the eye-patched man furious. Sixteen-year old Peter would have freaked but this Peter was very used to the glare he was receiving. Nick Fury was the only person in the entire compound who knew who Peter really was- the only reason for that might be because he knew Sheila Bennett- the same woman who helped in sending Peter's psychotic brother to a prison world.
"No Sir-" Peter grinned, "I think I have already said what needed to be said."
Fury was wise to ignore him.
"Alright now, Avengers," He rolled his eye, "If you would focus on the current problem- we have detected a high number of unresolved deaths in these areas of Virginia which covers a small town called Mystic Falls."
"Excuse me, Sir," Scott spoke up, "But why should we be worried about this?"
Fury raised his eyebrow- "Because I am fairly certain of the fact that these things that might be killing people are supernatural."
Peter was suddenly very interested and sharing one look with the Director, the man was almost sure of what was happening.
"You mean supernatural like aliens?" Peter asked hoping it was this. The supernatural that other kind he was brought up to believe him, the supernatural that he actually was- they were dangerous, their powers predatory.
"No Parker," Fury shook his head to Peter's dismay, "I mean like witches, werewolves and vampires."
The brunette slumped against his chair, not paying attention as Nick Fury asked him to stay back and Tony laughed at the ridiculousness of it all.
He couldn't run way anymore.

𝐌𝐘𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂 𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐒
𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐓𝐎 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄 had to be a strange experience that Katherine was unsure she will ever get used to. It had already happened to her twice now (that's two more times than normal people) and she still wasn't glad with the change that came with it. First when she came back to life, she had become a vampire- a strong creature but now here she was, alive but a human. A frail human who could break so easily.
Surviving was different- Katherine was good at it but truly living was something she had never done alone.
She walked around the campus of Whittemore College- a place she knew well from being Elena Gilbert for some time but today she was here not to survive but for a purpose.
Find Caroline Forbes.
Under no circumstance did Katherine expect something like forgiveness but in the few days for which she had been back, she wished to help Bonnie come back to life and honestly, Caroline was her best shot.
Speaking of, the blonde was walking towards Katherine with a worried glance and that scared the woman. Caroline was a vampire- she could kill Katherine while polishing her nails.
"Oh Elena," Caroline spoke and the older Petrova felt blessed to have a doppelganger for once in her life, "How are you doing sweetie?"
"I-What?" Katherine was confused- she knew people well enough and she knew for a fact that Caroline wasn't talking about Bonnie. Something even worse had happened for Caroline to look at her- at Elena broken.
"I know it's hard," The blonde girl hugged Katherine, "But you know Damon will-"
"Damon is dead?" The doppelganger spoke feeling this crushing weight on her chest even forgetting the fact that Caroline might now realize who she really is. Sure, Katherine didn't love Damon but she once truly believed she did.
She cared about him and even after the amount of times the man has tried to kill her, Katherine didn't want to hurt him- especially now when she was alive again.
"What do yo-Katherine?" Caroline's face turned from one of confusion to anger fast, "What are you doing here?"
Despite her tumbling emotions, Katherine took a step back, "I am not here to hurt you- I want to help."
The other woman scoffed, "Help? Tell me how many times you have said that and then stabbed us in the back?"
"Well I usually stab from the front," Katherine shrugged and then put her hands up in surrender, "But I am being honest this time. I owe to Bonnie and Damon now that they're-"
"Dead?" Caroline shook her head and Katherine could see the unshed tears in the blonde's eyes, "They are dead and Stefan is God-knows-where and-" she sighed heavily, "-How do you think they will come back from that?"
"We have to try, please!" Katherine felt different, more concerned and she realized that though she didn't notice it before when she turned human, now she didn't have a switch that was dictating her emotions. She felt guilty.
"You know you shouldn't be here Katherine," Caroline said, "Why don't you just do what you always do and run."
Katherine suddenly thought of Peter Parker up in Queens- his goofy smile and awkwardness that just made him adorable. Who would have thought that Katherine would fall for a good guy? A good guy that she made the mistake of leaving?
"I don't have anywhere to go- not anymore."
"Fine- help," Caroline said running her through her hair- already regretting her decision, "But if you mess this up, I will fucking kill you. Is that clear?"
Katherine truly felt afraid of this woman (and a little pride considering the fact that it was actually her who helped Caroline down this path no matter what anybody said), "Crystal."
She wasn't going to run anymore.
