Prelude

" Eomeoni ! Abeoji ! Eomeoni ! Look what I found—" the young girl's footsteps came to a halt at chamber door seeing her parents engrossed in a serious conversation.

" Eomeoni ? Abeoji ?" She mumbled softly and the guards guarding the chamber immediately bowed to her.

She bowed back politely and peeked into the chamber where her parents and observed the minute details of the chamber.

Most of the lamps were doused by the strong wind that blew through, the curtains were blowing freely and fast. Letters, scrolls and books were scattered around which was unusual for the chamber was her father's private office and it always remained neatly arranged.

Three small oil lamps were lit yet the room did not appear dim because of the moonlight.

" I want to go in." She finally announced softly, throwing the guards in a difficult predicament.

It was hard denying their young lady but they couldn't possibly let her in because of the strict instructions they'd received.

" Agassi......." one of the guards began, he appeared thoughtful, weighing his words carefully as he spoke to the girl.

" Why don't you talk to us for a while ? We do get bored standing here." The other guard quickly completed for him and let out a triumphant smile as she appeared thoughtful.

" Yeah." She mumbled. " You must be getting bored a lot. You don't have friends here either. But that's not a thing to worry about ! You've got me ! I'll make sure you don't get bored anymore !" Her cheerful voice made the guards smile softly and genuinely.

" Soo-ah ?" Her father's voice had her attention diverted.

The guards bowed to him as he walked towards the door of the chamber and he nodded, acknowledging their presence.

" Abeoji ! Abeoji !" She giggled, her small arms spread wide as she gazed at her father eagerly and expectantly, waiting for him to lift her into his arms and giggled yet again when he did.

" Abeoji ! Look what I found." Opening her palm which was a fist, she revealed a peacock feather, her face marvelling at its beauty yet again.

" A peacock feather. Did you see one ?" Her father mirrored her expressions as she nodded.

" I saw it fly away. I wish I see one again."

The book slammed close as the female scoffed.

" What bullshit is this ? I'm not exorcising a nine year old !" Jang Man-wol tutted in annoyance, her face contorting with disappointment.

" She's sixteen." The deity said.

" So ? Why do you want me to go to Goryeo Dynasty Era ? I'd rather exorcise a Princess than someone so naive like her then."

" She, is from a powerful family."

" What exactly is her past ? I want to know it better."

" Ah, too bad you closed the book before reading it entirely and from the start."

" YAH ! How is it my fault ? Who gives a book to explain a person's life ? You should've told me instead !"

" Books are way more interesting. What a pity you've got a bad taste." The deity sighed, leaning back on the couch.

" You—" Man-wol gritted her teeth.

This deity never failed to get on her nerves.

God alone knew why he was appointed for her.

" Alright I'm off." Tucking the book under his arm, he grinned at her.

" AT-LEAST LEAVE THE BOOK BEHIND AND GO !" She screamed and he shook his head.

" Can't."

" WAE ?"

" Against the rules. Annyeong !" He waved.

" Bitch." She muttered loud enough for him to hear.

" I heard that !"

" good for you !" She screamed yet again and he flinched, his face distorting with agony.

" You should learn to speak softly. Hae-soo has a very soft voice. Besides, your voice only gets all the more rough and annoying with all that screaming." He said playfully.

" YAH YOU—" she picked up a glass vase and before she could hurl it at him, he disappeared into thin air.

" Clever bastard." She muttered under her breath as she got carried away by her own thoughts, wondering who this Hae-soo would be, and how would she exorcise her without getting herself exposed.

In the past, the ones she exorcise would have a similar personality as hers so that wouldn't be so difficult a task for her, but Hae-soo ?

She and Hae-soo were opposite poles.

And exorcising her without getting caught would be a difficult challenge for her.

But Man-wol was always fond of challenges.

So if she backed out from this one, that wouldn't be her then.
