Cover :: 1.5/10
The cover doesn't fit in the frame, its sides have been cropped away. I suggest the author make the picture smaller. The picture of BTS hasn't blended well with the background, resulting in harsh lines. I suggest the author use differentiating fonts for the title and quote to put more emphasis on the title. The cover is relevant to the plot as it also has silhouettes of two girls which can represent Soora and Shruti but the whole vibe could be made better with better editing and a few adjustments.
Title :: 2/5
The title is common with tons of books with the same/similar title. I suggest the author pick something out of the box and something that has more relevance to the plot as in the first twelve chapters, I didn't find the title much relevant to the plot.
Blurb :: 2/10
The blurb is long. It has snippets from the chapters in the book which would have been fine if they were formatted well to summarize the storyline and were attention-grabbing. I suggest replacing the current blurb with a proper summary of the storyline with better wording. The author doesn't need to show all sides of the story in the blurb, introducing one side—the thought-provoking one—would be enough. There are a lot of grammatical mistakes too which make it less attractive.
Plot and Twists :: 17/25
The pace of the story lags a bit at some parts. The plot does make sense. I wouldn't say that the plot is unique but it does have its quirks instead of following the same revenge route. I found the WENDIGO concept pretty intriguing. I would say I liked the idea of Shruti meeting Jikook on the plane and their meeting was good as well. The story would flow well if it wasn't for the multiple times skips disrupting it. I liked the plot twist of Shruti living with the grandma and Soora not being dead. I expect the author to give more clarity on the latter in the future chapters though.
Characters and emotions :: 4/10
There are a lot of characters in the book—which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it makes the writing more complicated. It's important to give at least one highlight moment to all of the main cast otherwise the story seems empty. The author has done a pretty good job in maintaining the balance but at times it did feel a little crowded because of the extensive dialogues and little to no descriptions. Some of the actions taken by the characters did seem impulsive or odd to me. It could have been because of the lack of explanations or brushing it off as 'anger issues'. I do see the bond between the related characters.
Writing Style :: 3/15
The author has used the script format for dialogues, which is incorrect unless they are writing texts. The author mainly relies on dialogues and has used abbreviations and terms like *laughs*, *frowns*—which again is incorrect formatting. The author should maintain a stable balance between the dialogues and descriptions. I also suggest the author ditch the abbreviations and be more descriptive with their writing by describing emotions, actions, and surroundings more decently. The author should replace the extensive capitalization and bold font with exclamation marks. The author shouldn't switch POVs so much as well. They can also use some wordplay and metaphors to make their writing attractive.
Grammar and vocabulary :: 4.5/20
I found misspelled words such as 'worning' instead of 'warning' and 'revage' instead of 'revenge'. The author has also used some incorrect terms in certain contexts such as 'enchanted' instead of 'chanted'. The author should put the dialogues in double inverted quotations to make it easier to differentiate them from the descriptions and make them less confusing. Instead of putting several punctuation marks such as '???' and '!!'; the author should simply put just one. Since the book is written in English, I suggest the author stick with English and not add Korean terms as it can get cringe when used too much. Other than that the author's vocabulary is fine but expanding it wouldn't hurt.
Reviewer's thoughts :: 2/5
The author needs to work on their formatting, formatting and change the cover immediately. There are many factors to be improved in the book. I suggest the author read their chapters a couple of times before publishing to avoid mistakes and if they read the chapter they will know if the flow or pace can be better. I hope I didn't come across as rude, that wasn't my intention. The book can definitely be improved by making adjustments.
𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 :: 36/100
𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 ::
For the weakness, I would say it's the author's writing style and the grammar. The plot is the author's strongest point.
