My Best Friend's Wedding. (Part 6) (Tails Version) (Pete Wentz x Reader)

════════════════

Note: This is the final part! Wow. I'm really going to miss writing this story. But I hope you guys love it!

Tails.

Patrick and (Y/B/F) immediately began protesting, but you held up a hand to silence them.

"The Coin has spoken," you stated simply.

~Saturday, 09:15, 45 minutes until the wedding~

Patrick entered the room where Pete was getting ready, and his best friend let out a relieved sigh at the sight of him.

"'Trick, what do you think of this tie?" he said urgently, glancing at his friend briefly before resuming his position in front of the mirror.

"Oh, thank God," Patrick sighed. "Pete Wentz needs you minutes before his wedding, you assume there's at least one dead hooker in the closet, right?" he chuckled lightly, to indicate that he was only teasing, but sill opened the closet door to check, just in case.

"Is this one better?" Pete asked, holding up a different tie.

"Look, the tie is great and you know it. It's perfectly normal to have some pre-wedding jitters."

"I'm not having jitters," Pete retorted, taking a seat on the nearby sofa. "It just occurred to me that once I put on this tie, I can never take it off. I have to wear this tie forever and ever." Patrick joined the groom on the sofa as he continued. "Did I make a mistake? Would I have been happier with the other tie? Patrick, can I tell you a secret?"

"Yeah, of course."

"I'm not really talking about the tie."

"No, I got that, Pete."

"Am I making a mistake?"

"Does Meagan truly make you happy? Is there no other girl you could ever picture yourself with? No one? Like, at all?"

Pete rubbed his eyes and let out a light chuckle, fully understanding what Patrick was implying.

"You know what you need to do," Patrick added, patting Pete's back reassuringly.

"You're a good Best Man, Patrick." The two guys shared a smile before Pete laughed again. "You're gonna cry when it happens, aren't you?"

"Oh, I'm totally gonna cry."

There was a knock at the door, and when Pete yelled to come in, (Y/B/F) emerged. "Patrick, the minister wants to see you."

"Okay."

Patrick gave Pete once last pat on the back before walking out, leaving (Y/B/F) looking at Pete with an unimpressed expression.

"Really? You're gonna go with that tie?"

~Friday, 09:50, 10 minutes until the wedding~

The double doors to the suite where the girls were getting ready burst open, and a panting, disarrayed Pete entered the room, Meagan and her bridesmaids shrieking in horror as he did so.

"Pete, what the hell are you doing?" Meagan squeaked, trying desperately to cover herself up. "It's bad luck for us to see each other befor-"

"Meagan, I can't marry you."

A heavy silence fell over the room, everyone holding their breath in shock at Pete's statement, and not blinking for fear of missing anything.

Meagan's mouth hung open for a few seconds before she let out a high-pitched laugh. "Good one, babe. That's really funny. You almost had me going there for a second."

"I'm not joking," Pete said, stone faced. "We're not getting married today. Or ever, for that matter."

"And why the fuck not?" Meagan sneered, looking on the verge of imploding.

"Because I can't go my whole life married to you when I'm in love with someone else."

Meagan's breathing increased drastically and she was stammering, trying to find the words to say.

"Where's (Y/N)?" Pete asked, eyes scanning the room for you, but coming up empty. He remembered that you and Patrick had to meet with the minister before the ceremony, and in the blink of an eye, he was sprinting down the hallway in search of you.

Meagan let out a guttural groan and sped right after him, her bridesmaids following closely behind, not wanting to miss out on the action.

It must've been quite the sight, a Groom running frenziedly through the hotel's hallways, while the Bride and bridesmaids chased after him, yelling profanities and other things, trying to get him to stop.

Pete rounded a corner and nearly collided with you, Patrick and the minister. He let out a relieved laugh as he gripped onto your arms.

"I found you," he smiled widely.

"Yeah, you did. But shouldn't you be-"

"Oh, my god," Patrick chimed, staring wide-eyed at the herd of pissed off females fast approaching.

"Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz, The Third, don't you dare do what I think you're about to do," Meagan's shrill voiced pierced through the hallways, undoubtedly attracting the attention of some of the wedding guests.

"What is she-" you were cut off by Pete's lips on yours, and for a minute, it felt like you two were the only people in the room; but your bliss was short-lived, as Meagan let out a deafening scream.

"No, no, no, no, no!" she exclaimed, stamping her foot like a toddler and pointing at you. "This is not happening! You are not ruining my wedding!"

"I already told you," Pete yelled back, gripping you around the waist. "I'm not marrying you. I'm in love with (Y/N)."

"You are?" Patrick beamed happily.

"You are?" the minister asked in disbelief.

"You are?" you whispered, staring up at him in amazement.

"I am," he smiled.

"Well, why the fuck didn't you tell me this sooner?" you scolded, hitting him in the chest. "Do you have any idea how god-awful this past week has been? It was literal hell! And you could've saved me from all of it!"

"Well, you could've told him too-" Patrick started, but he quickly shut up when you gave him a glare.

"I'm sorry!" Pete defended. "I thought Meagan was who I wanted, but she's not."

"I better wake up from this nightmare real fucking soon!" Meagan closed her eyes and shook her head.

"What's all this noise about?" Meagan's mother, father and grandmother emerged from the left, along with the rest of the groomsmen and (Y/B/F).

"Pete wants to call off the wedding, mom!"

"I knew this would happen," her father muttered under his breath, rubbing his eyes.

"What did you do?" her mother shook her head, hands on her hips.

"Me?" Meagan gasped, clutching her chest while she pointed at you with her bouquet. "It was her."

"Excuse me, but I'm not the crazy bitch here."

"What did you just say?" Meagan hissed through clenched teeth, taking a step towards you.

"I said that you're a crazy bitch," you advanced on her as well, "and we've all just about had enough of it."

"You little-" Meagan reached for you, but before she could grab you, one of her bridesmaids interjected.

"Wait, Meagan! Maybe it's best that the wedding doesn't happen," everyone turned to look at the girl – Crystal – in shock.

"What the hell do you mean?" Meagan snapped.

"Well, if you don't marry Pete, then...then we can finally be together!"

"Are you on crack? What the fuck are you talking about, Crystal?"

"I'm talking about the fact that I've been in love with you for years and I know that you feel the same!"

"I definitely don't," Megan snarled. "And I never have."

"That's a lie," Crystal scoffed. "What about that time in Miami, when we-"

"Shut up!"

"Wait," Pete spoke up. "You hooked up with Crystal?"

Meagan was noticeably flustered and her words came out stammered. "It was years ago, before I even met you. And it meant nothing."

Everyone let out a collective gasp, and Meagan's grandmother fainted from the sudden revelation.

"That's not what you said," Crystal muttered under her breath.

"I said SHUT UP!" Meagan once again reached out, this time to shove Crystal, except that she accidently bumped into the minister, knocking him off balance and sending him flying down the staircase.

Everyone let out screams of horror and hurried down to help the poor man, but he was already unconscious.

"Well," Joe broke the silence, "now there definitely isn't gonna be a wedding."

~Friday, 15:00, 5 hours after the wedding was cancelled~

"Alright, thanks for keeping me updated. Buh-bye," Pete spoke into his phone.

"How's he doing?" you questioned tentatively.

"He's fine. Doctors say it was just a mild concussion; he'll be released this evening."

"That's great news," you laughed thankfully. "Poor minister. I wouldn't be surprised if he retires after this."

"Yeah, it was some week, wasn't it?" Pete chuckled. "The shit that went down in such a short space of time..." He shook his head as he recalled all of it.

"Most of which could've been avoided," you pointed out, zipping up your suitcase. "If we weren't such cowards."

"True."

You sighed deeply. "Shoulda listened to Patrick and (Y/B/F)."

"Yes, you should've!" they replied in unison from the next room, earning a laugh from both you and Pete.

"Buuuttt," Pete strolled over to you and held you against him in an embrace. "It's all over now, and we can be happy together."

You smiled up at him and leaned in for a kiss. "Thank God," you mumbled against his lips.

"(Y/N)?"

"Yes, Pete?"

"Will you marry me?"
