LATER THAT NIGHT Amara was hiding behind a tree, listening in on Luke and Percy's conversation. Amara held her bow and arrow, tightly.

"You're thinking about your mom, I get that I do. But prophecies? Those things are so vague." Luke told Percy, placing down the lamp.

"The quest is over, and everything the oracle said has either come true or makes sense." Percy replied, stepping closer to Luke.

Amara bit her lip, fiddling with her bow. He wasn't wrong.

"Has it?" Luke questioned Percy, tilting his head to the side.

"'You shall go west and face the God who has turned.'" Percy explained to Luke.

"Ares. Okay." Luke nodded, looking down at Percy.

"'Find what was stolen and see it returned.'" Percy kept going.

The bolt. Obviously.

"Clearly the bolt." Luke replied almost immediately.

Amara looked down, shaking her head. Oh, Gods.

"'And you shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend.'" Percy finished the prophecy.

Amara gulped, shaking her head. It couldn't be.

"Well, the reason Clarisse is still here is because...you never said anything to Chiron about her. Did you? You couldn't...because you knew that Clarisse didn't steal the bolt. You did." Percy realized, which caused Amara's mouth to hang open.

Amara bit her lip to stop herself crying. Why?

"You worked with Ares to plant it on me so when the shoes you gave me pulled me down into Tartarus, the bolt would be delivered right to Kronos." Percy added which caused Amara to tighten her grip onto her bow.

"I didn't think you'd give 'em to Grover to wear." Luke tore up, looking at Percy.

Bullshit.

"I am your friend. I love Amara. Percy, none of this was meant to betray you both. The Gods are my enemy. You...I'm here to recruit, you and her." Luke explained to Percy.

Recruit? Amara wiped a tear that slipped down her cheek.

"Recruit?" Percy questioned, tilting her head.

How could he? Why? All these questions flooded Amara's head as Luke and Percy fought. Amara covered her mouth as Percy brought up Hermes. Oh, Gods.

Before Luke could strike down Percy, Amara shot an arrow through Luke's arm while Annabeth blocked Luke's sword. Annabeth took off her hat to make herself known. Amara yanked the arrow out of Luke's shoulder, tossing it to the side.

"Amara? Annabeth?" Luke looked between the two girls.

Amara stood in front of Percy, looking down at him then Luke "We heard everything."

Luke looked down at Percy then made a run for it. Annabeth nodded at Amara. Amara chased after Luke, following him through the portal.
