❛ ACT I ❜
-ˋˏ chapter sixteen ˎˊ-

THE SKY WAS DARK and stretched over Sofia's head as she sat alone in an arched stone alcove in the Salvatore's garden. If you can even call it that since it was the size of two football fields.

The crescent moon hang high above with the stars to keep it company. Sofia watched it from below with curious eyes before they dropped to stare at her daylight ring. She took it off and twirled it in between her fingers in the safety of the night.

She was happy that Jenna knew now. There was no one else that she cared for left in the dark anymore. But now that she was alone with her thoughts, Sofia was starting to worry that meant Jenna would want to involve herself just like Jeremy wanted. She didn't even ask her aunt but it was no use now since Jenna was asleep.

Earlier, Sofia checked up on Jeremy and Bonnie with a phone call. They were still lying low at the old witch house and she couldn't visit them. She had briefly forgot that they were a couple now with everything going on. She still needed to talk to Jeremy about that.

"What are thinking about?"

"Jesus Christ!" Sofia shrieked, caught off guard. Her ring slipped from her fingers and onto the the stone floor.

Elijah smiled at her reaction before he picked up her daylight ring. He heard her mumble a small curse for dropping it as he looked over the ring.

It was tear dropped shaped and had silver branches curling and protecting the lapis lazuli gemstone.

He thought it suited her. They may not be close now but like she said, he was good at reading people. She was the gemstone and the silver branches was her instinct to not let anyone too close to her in fear they'd perish. Specifically romantic interests.

But Elijah was presistant and he didn't care how long it would take for her to let him in. He himself had trouble with it so they could battle with it together.

He didn't tell her this of course.

"You can't just appear out of nowhere Elijah! -"

"I came from inside."

"And scare me like that! -"

"I asked what you were thinking about."

"When we both are aware that you're pycho brother is running around!"

"I doubt Niklaus would approach you asking about your thoughts."

Sofia glared at him.

Elijah smiled at her fondly before handing her ring back.

"What are you still doing here? It's pretty late." She asked, sheepishly taking her ring and putting it back on her finger.

She watched his dark eyes look over her sitting figure briefly. Ever since their conversation at the Lockwood estate, Sofia was aware of everything when in his presence.

How tall he was, his muscular arms, his parted hair that did things to her. His face was clean shaven so his sharp jaw was on display. His demeanor was intimidatingly and calculated, like you don't know what to expect in his presence. The way he carried himself with confidence and dominance because he knows people fear him and he secretly liked it.

Sofia really shouldn't find that attractive. But she did. And God, him always wearing a suit didn't help.

All the while she was not so subtly checking him out, Elijah leaned his body against the cold stone of the alcove, staring at her too.

Now that they both were aware of the soulmate bond and that they do have an interest in each other, there was even more tension than before. The memory of their close proximity, their bodies pressed together and their lips almost touching.

It was now a crave that neither could have. At least not until Klaus was dead and Sofia could conquer her fear of letting him in.

"I wanted to see if you were alright. I know you talked to your aunt." Elijah said softly, breaking Sofia from her thoughts. She had asked him a question.

"Oh." Sofia mumbled, surprised. She's happy that he stayed to see if she was okay. It made her feel cared for - which was ridiculous because she has family and friends who care for her. But it felt different.

"Did you easedrop?" She asked after a moment.

Elijah shook his head. "No. I want to know more about you but I won't do it by listening in on your private conversations Sofia."

The woman gave him a tiny smile. "I appreciate that." She noticed their distance. "Sit?" She offered, patting the empty space next to her in the alcove that was small but enough for two people.

That seemed to make him happy because his eyes light up.

Elijah sat down next to her and Sofia realized how wrong she was too think she'd have space. Because they were shoulder to shoulder and this made her stomach do tiny flips.

"Do you want to speak about it?" He asked, looking at her.

Sofia smiled and nodded. "It went better than I thought. I told her that I was a vampire and she still loves me. I was so scared before that she would fear me but I was clearly wrong."

"You're relieved aren't you?"

"Extremely." She sighed. "I didn't realize how much of a burden it was too keep my vampirism a secret from Jenna until now. " She titled her head at him. "I just hope she won't be like Jeremy and throw himself into danger just to be involved."

A comfortable silence came over them. Neither felt like they had to fill it. Sofia has slumped tiredly against the wall and stared at the moon, looking at the craters.

Elijah stared at her in awe. She looked tired but peaceful. Her brown eyes sparkled with the reflection of the moon. It's light dancing across her cheekbones. He observed the shape of her face, every curve and slope like she was a masterpiece.

The original has been in love with beautiful women before but they pale in comparison to Sofia Gilbert. She was fierce and soft natured at the same time. He valued how well she protects and wants the best for others. She's selfless, compassionate, protective, kind and is not afraid to stand up to anyone. Not even an original like himself when they first met.

Sofia Gilbert was a special star that shines to give others light.

And Niklaus Mikaelson was a man who could snatch that star and crush it.

"Sofia." Elijah called, voice coming off deeper and more intimidating than he wanted.

She flickered her eyes away from the sky and met his intense ones, feeling her body tingle with exhilaration. Just a look from Elijah made her weak.

But his next words were not what she expected.

"I want you to distance yourself from me."

Sofia frowned and turned her entire body to face Elijah. "What?" She asked, shocked. Because hours ago he was telling her that he'd wait centeries for her but now he wants her to go back to staying away from him. "Elijah you -"

But he reached out and delicately held her hand. That shut her up.

Elijah smiled slightly at her sudden mood change before he became serious again. "Niklaus doesn't know our relationship. I'm not sure if he knows that you're my soulmate yet or not but I do know my brother. He takes away what I love most and who is important to me."

Sofia noticed the dark look in his eyes, making her believe that Niklaus hurting others just to get to Elijah was something common. It made her body tense.

"You are important to me Sofia. And I know that Niklaus won't care if you're my soulmate or not if it means he gets what he wants."

Sofia's worried eyes soften immensely as she processed his words. She was important to him.

Sofia leaned closer, reading his thoughts. "You're scared he'll choose me as the vampire for the ritual, aren't you?"

He nodded grimly.

Now that Elijah mentioned the possibility that Klaus would use her as the vampire for the sacrifice, Sofia became worried. She did beat him up when he was in Alaric's body.

"I want you to not be seen as important to me in his eyes. I'm asking that we keep a distance and don't talk until the ritual's over. I know my brother has people watching us from time to time."

Sofia understood but it didn't mean she wasn't upset. Ever since their confession she wants to be around him more. Get to know him. She guesses that will have to wait.

Elijah noticed she wasn't happy and his fingers titled her chin so she faced him instead of the ground. He smiled softly. "I'm not happy with this either. I have waited for the time you knew about us. But I care about you and need you to be safe."

If the worst happens and Sofia is taken, Elijah will reign hell onto his brother.

Sofia stared at him and nodded, feeling oddly safe with someone as dangerous as Elijah Mikaelson. But her feelings have changed since they first met. He wasn't a threat to her, he was someone she desperately wanted to learn more about.

"Okay." She accepted, a tiny smile on her face.

"Another thing."

"Elijah." Sofia whined, feeling her the day catch up on her body. She really wanted to retire back into the warm house and go to sleep.

The original ignored her plead and gave her a pointed look. "I don't want to mislead you. I have an exiler made by witches that will bring Elena back to life but it's 500 years old. It might not work."

Sofia tensed and Elijah hated that he made her like this but he didn't want to withhold anything from the woman.

She looked down at her ring, thinking. Sofia didn't want to even think of the possibility, but reality was a bitch. What if the exiler expired? Can magic even expire? Was her sister really going to die?

Sofia retracted her hand from his and stood up with a large frown. She couldn't live in la la land forever.

"I understand." She sighed. "Thank you. Goodnight."

Elijah watched her disappear in a blink of an eye and he was left alone, feeling guilty for something he didn't even know he'll do yet.

─── ο½₯ ο½‘οΎŸβ˜†: *.☽ .* :β˜†οΎŸ. ───

The next morning Sofia, Elijah, Stefan and Elena sat in the library discussing the ritual. Elijah stood in front of the three by the fireplace with Sofia not far, sitting with one leg elegantly over the other in an armchair. Her sister and Stefan sat closely on the couch, both feeling the need to comfort each other.

Jenna was in the kitchen making breakfast. Sofia was happy her aunt was up and about and was fully accepting everything. Jenna even asked her if vampires eat and she explained that they do but it isn't needed for survival. Sofia laughed when Jenna awkwardly offered to get Sofia a bloodbag. She declined, knowing Jenna really didn't want to hand her niece an actual bag of blood for breakfast.

Sitting in the armchair, Sofia's vampire hearing caught Damon waking up. She rolled her eyes when he started cussing them all out before he started to get dressed.

"Tonight is the full moon. We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse." Elijah told them.

Elena looked at her older sister nervously and Sofia tried her best to look assuring. She's failing miserably.

Stefan sighed. "Elena said that the Sun and the Moon curse is fake? That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus."

"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it...he'll be a true hybrid."

Damon finally decided to join them. "Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today. With Bonnie."

The eldest Salvatore brother came to a stop behind Sofia's armchair, resting his own arms on top of it. The woman glared up at him. "No Damon. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying."

"I'll write her a great eulogy."

Sofia glared harder. "It's not an option."

Stefan did not want another fight breaking out between them. So he spoke up before his brother pisses Sofia off more. "All right, how do we break this curse?"

After death staring Damon, which the best friends didn't notice, Elijah looked at Stefan. "Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know."

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. After that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each."

The soulmates met eyes, Sofia giving the tiniest of smiles to ease his worries despite her own still running wild in her head. Elijah feared his brother would cross the line he's crossed many times before.

"And where do I fit into it?" Elena asked cautiously.

Elijah walked towards a shelf of books, taking out a rectangled shaped box that he stored there. "The final part of the ritual. Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelgΓ€nger...to the point of your death." He looked at Elena.

Damon rubbed Sofia's shoulders when she tensed up.

Elena shared a glance with her boyfriend before looking at the original. "And that's where you come in."

The man lifted a round bottle from the box, showing everyone. It was filled with a brown liquid that honestly looked like bourbon.

"This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina. It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation." Elijah told everybody.

Elena frowned. "So I'll be dead?"

"And then you won't."

Damon scoffed loudly. "That's your plan? A magical witch potion with no expiration date?" He looked to the doppelgΓ€nger desperately. "You want to come back to life, what about John's ring?"

Sofia sighed, rubbing her temples. "It doesn't work on supernaturals. Elena's a doppelgΓ€nger which is a supernatural occurance. Odds are the ring won't work."

Damon glared at her, obviously not liking her logic. But Sofia just glared right back until the man finally looked away in annoyance.

"I'll take those odds over grandpa's elixir." Damon sassed and Sofia cringed at the name. "What if it doesn't work, Elena?"

"Then I guess I'll just be dead." Elena stated too calmly.

Damon looked at the girl who he has feelings for in denial before angrily leaving. Sofia too stood up and left without a word, feeling her sister's regretful stare on her back.

Sofia was not okay with how her younger sister said those words with so little emotion. Like her death wouldn't break Sofia and everyone else.

"Hey honey." Jenna cheerfully greeted her niece, oblivious to the conversation that just ended in the library.

Sofia smiled slightly at her aunt who was plating some pancakes. She was still upset so she stayed silent and grumpily munched on her breakfast. Jenna raised a strict eyebrow at her niece.

Sofia noticed and quickly swallowed her mouthful of pancake. "Hi Aunt J." She greeted back with a sheepish look.

"There's the manners my sister installed in you." Jenna replied with a grin, earning a tiny chuckle from Sofia.

Jenna left Sofia with a 'I'll be back' but it wasn't long before arguing could be heard. Sofia was confused until she recognized who's voice was pleading with her aunt's.

"Jenna, put the crossbow down, okay? It's me."

"Stay away from me!"

Sofia used her vampire speed and appeared next to Jenna, who pointed a crossbow at Alaric Saltzman. Immediately the vampire attacked who she believed was Klaus, pushing him to the ground to lie on his stomach. She straddled his back, pinning his arms with her strength to himself quite painfully.

"Ow! Sofia!"

Jenna stared with wide eyes, watching her niece restrict her ex boyfriend with an impressive amount of strength. Elena, Elijah, Damon and Stefan heard the commotion and joined them in the foyer.

"What the hell?" Elena gasped at the scene, the original next to her watching in extreme interest.

Alaric's cheek was pressed to the ground and he tried to speak clearly. "It's me, Elena, I swear, okay? He let me go. Klaus let me go. Sofia please!"

"Prove it." Damon demanded, standing next to Sofia and Alaric.

The ex hunter looked at Jenna. "Okay, uh, first night you and I spent together, Jeremy walked in right when I was about to-"

Jenna realized what he was about to reveal and put down the crossbow, cheeks red. "Okay, it's him."

Sofia couldn't get off the man quicker after his words. "Ric I'm sorr-"

"It's okay I get it." He grunted when he stood up before raising an eyebrow at the woman. "Jeez you're strong."

She mouthed another apology.

Stefan stepped closer. "Why did he let you go?"

"He wanted me to deliver a message." Alaric looked at the doppelgΓ€nger. "The sacrifice happens tonight."

Everyone went silent at those words. Sofia noticed Damon slip up stairs without anyone but her seeing so she followed him up until his bedroom.

"I'm not in the mood for this right now." Damon said, not needing to face Sofia to know it was her about to give him a long talk.

She ignored him and shut the door behind her. "I don't care." She pointed to the bed. "Sit."

Damon rolled his eyes and obeyed her. Sofia was happy he didn't fight this like he always would in the past. They both know he wants to talk about it but no one but Sofia will ever ask him.

It wasn't always like this. Sofia remembers Damon wanting nothing to do with her, and her with him, when they met after she turned. But so many things have happened since then and soon enough they both trusted each other more than they thought they ever would have.

Sofia sat next to him and took his hand, hearing Damon grumble about how mushy she was. She ignored him.

"Tell me how you feel about the ritual."

"What are you, my therapist?"

"No I'm your best friend, be grateful."

He sighed before meeting her eyes. "I'm angry. Your sister is determined to die."

"Elena's not determined to die Damon, she doesn't want this. She's doing this because she believes it will protect everyone." Sofia told him. "I'm not happy with it at all but I can't control her, no matter how much I think she's wrong."

"So you agree? She's being careless."

Sofia frowned. "Elena's not being careless. She's being selfless."

Sofia hated this situation and the part her younger sister plays. Elena doesn't deserve any of the supernatural bullshit that's happened. But this was reality and Sofia can't be a hypocrite. She would do the exact same thing if it was her death required.

But that doesn't mean Sofia would let Elena die. If the worst happens, she'll do something.

Damon looked at her in disbelief. "Don't praise her. She's being -"

"Nor you or I can control her Damon. She's her own person. Besides, are you telling me you wouldn't take the risk if it meant your loved ones are safe?" She asked.

Damon scowled. "That list is very short, Gilbert."

"But I know you'd die for us." Sofia said knowingly.

Damon hated how right Sofia always was. It was annoying how she could turn a situation around in your head. But Damon was also selfish and impulsive and sometimes, not even his best friend can convince him. Make him hesitate, yes.

"You know I'll do anything to protect Elena." Damon told her after a moment. "That's something we have in common. So you better not get pissed at me if I do something that you'll thank me for later." He gave a tight smile before getting up.

Sofia's eyes narrowed, standing up too. "What the hell are you going to do?"

Damon ignored her so she forcefully grabbed his arm with her strength making him stop. He could easily shake her off but he wouldn't.

She stood in front of him, gazing up into his blue eyes suspiciously. "Damon, don't do anything stupid."

Damon stared down at her intensely, noticing the fear behind them. His eyes softened but his mind was made up. He knew she was going to hate him but -

Damon didn't say anything and left Sofia alone in his bedroom.

─── ο½₯ ο½‘οΎŸβ˜†: *.☽ .* :β˜†οΎŸ. ───

Sofia Gilbert has never felt so hurt by Damon Salvatore than she was right now. The raven haired vampire knew how Sofia felt about vampirism; she wouldn't wish it upon her worst enemies.

Becoming a vampire wasn't as brutal has it could have been for Sofia. That's what Stefan told her. She had immense control over her instincts and thirst.

When she drank from a human to transition, she didn't kill the man with her crushing strength or animalistic nature. Despite every fibre of her being screaming at her to enjoy the hunt, the screams, the pleading - Sofia pulled back and healed him.

But just because Sofia had control and hasn't wallowing in misery because of her immortality doesn't mean she thought vampirism was good thing. It was evil and dark but it takes a lot from someone to overcome it. That light is already in some and will only start to grow in others.

Damon Salvatore knew Sofia Gilbert hated vampirism. He knew she hated the how her choice was taken by her from a desperate Stefan.

Yet he still decided to feed Elena his blood just so she wouldn't leave him.

Her sister now had vampire blood in her system - meaning when she dies in the ritual tonight she'll become a vampire. Sofia knew Elena didn't want to become one and she has every reason not to want to. But her choice was taken from her. Just like how Sofia's was taken from her too.

"You selfish thoughtless asshole!"

Sofia attacked Damon with a long piece of wood that broke off from his dresser after he threw his brother on it. She stabbed Damon in the shoulder harshly, pinning him to the wall.

Damon screamed in pain, meeting the fiery glare of Sofia Gilbert.

Elena was holding an injured Stefan on the floor. Blood covered her mouth and tear streaks ran down her cheeks as she supported her boyfriend's weak body.

"What the hell is going on?!" Alaric yelled running into the bedroom with Jenna.

"Oh my god." Jenna gasped, eyes flickering from an injured Stefan to a vivid Sofia inpaling Damon.

Alaric looked at a scared Jenna. "Okay, Jenna, downstairs are some blood bags. Go get them now. Go!"

Jenna quickly left to get the bloodbags just as Elena removed the wood from Stefan's stomach making him gasp in pain.

Sofia was oblivious to what was going on behind her because her sole focus was on Damon and her anger. She ripped the wood from him with her speed only to impale his other shoulder again. "How dare you take her choice from her!" She yelled.

Damon removed the wood with a grunt. "Told ya you'd be pissed." He replied with a glare, only fueling Sofia more.

The woman punched Damon's cheek then the other with lightning speed before Damon retaliated by pushing her away from him causing her to crash into the wall next to the door. She got up easily and was about to ran at him again but instead of her hands meeting Damon's throat she was met with someone's chest.

Sofia pushed herself away from the person and looked around, realizing that she was now outside the house by the front door. Then her eyes met Elijah's, who was the one who took her away from the fight.

"Move." She glared, her rage from the fight and Damon's actions not having left yet.

Sofia went to enter the house to finish what she started but Elijah stepped in her way and took hold of her upper arms in a firm grip.

"Sofia you need to breathe." He looked down at her blazing eyes.

"Damon -" She seethed, fists clenched.

"Is an imbecile but you need to calm down before you do something you will regret." Elijah told her sternly.

As delightful as the thought of Damon Salvatore dead is, Elijah knew Sofia would regret it later. No matter how angry she is at the moment.

Sofia took a few breathes in, still feeling angry but not murderous like before. She exhaled loudly before meeting Elijah's eyes again.

Sofia huffed and punched Elijah's chest, channeling what was left of her rage into the hit. Elijah barely moved and stood his ground, letting Sofia take her anger out on him.

"Better?" He questioned the grumpy woman, slightly amused by her actions.

"Yes, thank you." She sighed before groaning. "God I hate him." Sofia stepped away from Elijah's hold. "How could he do this to Elena?"

"Because he loves her." Elijah stated watching Sofia frown at him.

They both knew it, hell, everyone did. Sofia only started to realize it when Katherine returned to Mystic Falls. She tried to pretend her eyes were deceiving her. But Damon didn't try to hide it. Even Stefan knew. And Sofia knows that deep down her sister does too.

The thought of Damon and her sister together made Sofia angry and worried at the same time. Elena would be good for Damon but would he be good for her?

"Still, when you love someone you don't hurt them." Sofia said. "It doesn't justify taking the human life Elena could want from her."

Elijah sighed as he watched her. He didn't want Sofia to worry over more things that she already was. But he couldn't prevent it either. The time will come when Elena decides if she wants to drink blood and complete the transition or die.

It seems Sofia thought the same thing as her eyes widen. "Do you think she'll complete the transition?" She asked him, visable worry lines appearing on her forehead.

Sofia didn't want her sister to become a vampire but she didn't want Elena to actually die either. She'd rather have her sister just like her than never alive again. It's selfish and maybe Sofia was being a hypocrite with Damon. But she wouldn't force her blood down Elena's throat.

Elijah shook his head in disagreement. "You need to be with your sister right now. She needs you." He told her, trying to get Sofia to stop worrying.

The Gilbert nodded, closing her eyes and sighing. "Yeah you're right." She opened them again and looked at the man in appreciation. "Thank you, Elijah."

He offered her a reassuring smile. "Of course, Sofia. I'll be back tonight for the ritual."

He began to walk away before halting when Sofia caught his wrist.

She tried to smile playfully. "What happened to staying away from each other?"

Elijah shook his head with a tiny smile, using his larger hand to flip hers around and bring her palm to his lips. He kissed it gently before letting her go.

Then he was gone.

Wiping the smile from her face, Sofia used her hearing to locate her sister before entering the house again.

She didn't knock as she entered Stefan'a room to find her sister and Stefan sitting on the edge of his bed. The Salvatore met her eyes and Sofia nodded. Stefan kissed Elena's temple for getting up and leaving his bedroom.

Sofia slowly walked over and sat down closely to her younger sister. Both didn't say anything until Elena's arms curled around Sofia's waist and her head landed on her shoulder. Sofia welcomed this, and hugged Elena back.

"Stefan's taking me somewhere for the day. To get away from all of this." Elena told her, voice small.

Sofia nodded, fingers trailing through Elena's hair. "That's a good idea." She gently nudged her sister to look up at her. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"No." Elena immediately answered, shaking her head. "I'm not ready."

Elena already knew she'll have to talk about her choice with Stefan later. She didn't want to have that conversation with her sister. She just needed Sofia's comfort.

"Okay." Sofia frowned. "I'm sorry Elena. I know you don't want this."

Elena smiled sadly. "I can't do anything about it." She looked down at her hand that was covered by her sister's. "Can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"Is there anything good about being a vampire?"

Sofia looked at Elena unsurely. "Honestly?" Elena nodded. "Nothing can make up for the life you could have lived as a human. Yes you live forever but you watch your loved ones die while you're still stuck at the age you died. And the bloodlust, it doesn't matter how good at control you are. You're still a predator and you'll always have the urge to kill innocent people."

Elena listened intently. Sofia never opened up about her vampirism so this was surprising.

"It's not a life I want for you 'Lena." Sofia told her sincerely.

The young girl nodded slowly. "If you could, would you be a human again?" She asked a sensitive question. Elena was taken back when her sister already knew her answer.

"Suprisingly no." Sofia said. "I mean, I wish I could have the ability to have kids but other than that, I don't want to be human again. As a vampire I'm stronger and I have the ability to actually do something to protect my family. When I was human....I felt like I had no purpose."

Elena frowned."You never told me that. "

"I never told anyone that." Sofia shrugged. "Becoming a vampire was horrible but I know it also helped me with myself." She squeezed Elena's hand. "But that's not the case for everyone Elena. I know I can't make you choose to become a vampire so I hope your day with Stefan will clear things up for you."

Elena pursed her hips before hugging Sofia. "Thank you Annie. I love you."

"I love you too."

─── ο½₯ ο½‘οΎŸβ˜†: *.☽ .* :β˜†οΎŸ. ───

Sofia spent the rest of the day at the Salvatore Boarding house with Jenna. Both were anxious for the night to come and being with each other was the only thing keeping them from spiraling.

Sofia hasn't spoken to Damon since the fight and if he wishes to live he won't come near her.

"So." Jenna drawled out. "What is going on between you and Elijah?" She raised an eyebrow.

Jenna rested her chin on her hand as she looked at her niece seated across the kitchen counter. Sofia stopped her action of bringing her mug of tea to her lips to stare at Jenna.

"What?" Sofia chuckled uncomfortably, bringing the mug down to the table.

Jenna rolled her eyes. "Don't feign innocence Sofie. I know my niece and it's obvious when someone has caught her attention." She held a knowing expression. "Plus you guys keep eye-fucking each other all day."

Sofia chocked on her tea and quickly spat it in the sink before a laugh escaped her mouth. "Jenna!"

Jenna grinned and patted the chair next to her. "Tell me everything, we both need a distraction."

Sofia was still giggling when she sat down. "We don't do anything with our eyes." She tried to convince her.

Jenna laughed. "Oh please! There's so much tension between you two I could cut it with a knife!"

"Shut up." Sofia covered her face shamefully but a shy grin was present.

It felt nice to talk with her aunt like this. Like it was a normal day in her life and she had a crush on a cute guy in her class. Sofia wanted to hold onto the feeling so she decided to tell Jenna the truth about herself and the original vampire. Jenna proved that she can handle the truth earlier.

"Wow." Jenna muttered with wide eyes just after Sofia finished talking. "I've really been in the dark. You two are soulmates? Holy shit, I'm actually jealous."

Sofia laughed. "You're jealous?"

"Well of course." Jenna scoffed. "Have you seen Elijah? That man could slap me and I'd thank him."

Sofia was officially full blown giggling, holding her stomach with her eyes squeezed shut. "Jenna!"

Jenna laughed with her, covering her mouth. "What? It's true!"

Their laughter died down and they were both smiling softly at each other. Jenna carresed Sofia's hair. "I'm serious Sof, I'm happy for you."

Sofia bit the inside of her cheek. "Really? You aren't mad that he's a thousand years old and a vampire?"

Jenna shook her head with a smile. "No, as long as you are happy, healthy and he treats you well. The rest doesn't matter."

Sofia beamed at her aunt and brought Jenna into a tight hug. "You have no idea how grateful I am that you're so understanding." She squeezed Jenna like she'd disappear. "I love you, Aunt J."

Jenna held her niece to her chest protectively and savored the moment. "I love you more Sofia."

Sofia never realized how much she loved Jenna until that moment. She was the person who was her shoulder to lean on when her own got sore. Jenna was the person who supports her and still loves her despite of what she is. Jenna filled the hole her mother left when she died and reminded Sofia that she was indeed not alone.

Jenna Sommers was Sofia's other half and she didn't want to think of the day she'd loose that part of her.
