DOROTHY WAS TOSSING and turning in her bed, unable to sleep while her sisters were both sleeping in their own beds. She couldn't but worry about Aslan and wondered why he was so sad when the White Witch had left. Outside of the tent, she could here footsteps and sat up, seeing the shadow of Aslan walking behind.
"Susan, Lucy!"
Her older sisters woke up upon Dorothy's desperate whisper. She threw off the covers and rushed to get her cloak, necklace, and dagger as her sisters did the same; Lucy grabbing her cordial and dagger and Susan grabbing her bow and quiver and horn. three girls confused walked out the tent and watched as Aslan walked up a hill and into the forest. They shared looks with each other before following after him.
As quietly as they could, Dorothy and her sisters hid behind the trees as they followed the lion. As they hid behind another tree, they could here Aslan sighing.
"Shouldn't you three be in bed?"
The sisters shared a look with one another before coming from behind the tree and walked towards Aslan.
"We couldn't sleep," Lucy spoke.
"We were worried about you," Dorothy says gently and she spotted a small smile that appeared on Aslan's muzzle but it disappeared quickly, causing the blonde girl to worry even more.
"Please, Aslan," Susan says softly. "Couldn't we come with you?"
"I would be glad of the company for a while," Aslan replies with a soft tone as the sisters stood on either side of him; Dorothy on one side with Susan and Lucy on the other. "Thank you."
The girls held onto Aslan's mane, running their hands through it softly as an attempt to comfort him as they walked through the forest quietly. Dorothy was very worried for Aslan and she wish Aslan could tell them what was going on, but she knew that he wouldn't. Soon, after a few hours of walking, Aslan stopped, which caused the Queens to stop as well.
"It is time," Aslan speaks sadly, looking at the three Daughters of Eve. "From here, I must go on alone."
"But Aslan--"
"You have to trust me. For this must be done," Aslan interrupted Susan and glanced between the sisters. "Thank you, Susan. Thank you, Lucy. Thank you, Dorothy. And farewell."
Aslan then turned around and walked away, leaving Dorothy and her sisters behind. Susan placed each hand on her sister's shoulders before turning into a different direction to follow Aslan and Lucy followed behind her. The youngest girl stayed for a second, glancing at Aslan before following after her older sisters.

The three Daughters of Eve were crouched down behind a bush as they heard the sounds of squealing animals and a crowd was in the presence of the White Witch. They watched as Aslan walked up the stairs and the creatures began to mock him. They saw the White Witch standing at the top of the stairs and noticed she held a large knife in her hands.
"Behold," They heard Jadis say in a low voice. "The Great Lion."
The creatures began to laugh before a large Minotaur walked up to Aslan. He poked Aslan with his axe, who growled in response. The Minotaur looked towards Jadis, who nods, and Aslan is pushed to the ground, causing Dorothy to gasp slightly.
"Why doesn't he fight back?" Dorothy asked her sisters desperately as they watched the creatures continue to torture Aslan.
"Bind him!" They hear the White Witch order.
The creatures grabbed ropes and began to tie him up.
"Wait," The White Witch called. "Let him first be shaved."
Ginarrbrik walked to Aslan and used his knife to cut off a piece of the lion's mane, holding it up for the creatures to see. They cheered and soon enough, everyone joined in and began to shave the King's mane off.
"Bring him to me."
At the request, ogres began to pull Aslan onto the Stone Table where Jadis stood. The creatures began to cheer louder until the White Witch flew out her arm, silencing everyone. Soon, they began to bang sticks in a rhythmic beat as the witch leaned down to Aslan, whispering to him before standing up.
"Tonight, the Deep Magic will be appeased!" The White Witch announced and loud cheers continued throughout the crowd. "But tomorrow, we will take Narnia forever! In that knowledge, despair..." The White Witch lifted the knife, "and die!"
The witch then stabbed Aslan as hard as she could, causing Dorothy to gasp loudly. She watched as Aslan's eyes rolled to the back of his head and stopped breathing. She began to cry and heard her sisters crying as well and Susan brought both her sisters into a hug, letting them both cry on her shoulders as the crowd cheered loudly.
"The Great Cat. . . is dead!"
This caused Dorothy to sob harder as a Minotaur roared and the Witch's army began to leave. The sisters all sat on the ground, still crying silently and waited as the White Witch and her army were gone.

Once the Witch and her followers left, Dorothy, Lucy, and Susan all slowly walked towards the Stone Table where Aslan layed. To the girls, it looked like he was only sleeping but they new he wasn't. Dorothy and Lucy ran up the steps and sat by Aslan while Lucy was about to take out her cordial.
"It's too late. He's gone," Susan sniffed, her voice cracking as she spoke. She then sat next to her youngest sister, wrapping a comforting arm around her. "He must've known what he was doing."
Soon, the girls all leaned against the great lion as they sobbed in his fur. The sound of squeaking noises was heard and they looked up, seeing mice scatter across the chains of Aslan.
"Get away. Get away, all of you," Susan shooed them.
"No," Lucy spoke, her eyes red and puffy. "Look."
The sisters watched as the mice chewed off the chains and freed Aslan from them. Together, the sisters both took them off and Susan looked at Dorothy and Lucy.
"We have to tell the others."
Dorothy looked at her sister as tears continued to stream down her face. "We can't just leave him!"
"Dorothy, Susan's right. There's no time," Lucy says, siding with Susan. "They need to know."
Dorothy looked around for a minute before looking towards the trees and then back to her older sisters.
"The trees."

The trees sent a message to Peter and Edmund as the girls stayed with Aslan for the rest of the night. When morning came, they all woke up and looked around before Susan looked between her sisters.
"We should go," she said, her voice still cracked from the night before. She, along with Lucy slid off the Stone Table before walking to the side that Dorothy was on to help her down.
"I'm so cold.
Susan stood between her younger sisters, her arms wrapped around both of them as they walked down the steps. They all glanced back at Aslan one last time before continuing there way until the ground below them started shaking. They tumbled over a bit, shocked at what just happened and Dorothy looked behind her, her eyes widening.
"Susan, Lucy!" she exclaimed and the other two looked behind as well, seeing the table was cracked in two and Aslan wasn't there. "What happened?"
"Where's Aslan?" Lucy questioned as they walked slowly towards the Stone Table.
"What have they done?" Susan asked.
Suddenly, a bright light seemed to beam through as a large figure started to appear. Aslan showed himself and smiled down at the three sisters, who were now beaming at the now alive lion.
"Aslan!"
The young queens all rushed around the Stone Table as Aslan walked down the steps. He let out a laugh as Dorothy tackled him in a hug and was soon joined by Susan and Lucy.
"But we saw the knife," Susan says as they pulled apart. "The Witch!"
"If the Witch knew the true meaning of sacrifice, she might have interpreted the Deep Magic differently," Aslan explained as they walked around the Stone Table. "That when a willing victim who has committed no treachery is killed in a traitor's stead, the Stone Table will crack and even death itself will turn backwards."
"We sent the news that you were dead," Susan informed.
"Peter and Edmund will have gone to war," Dorothy adds on.
Lucy drew out her dagger. "We have to help them," she spoke with confidence in her voice.
Aslan chuckled and gently placed a paw on her hand. "And we will, dear one. But not alone." He bent down and let the three Daughters of Eve climb on his back with Dorothy in front, Lucy in the middle, and Susan behind Lucy. "We have far to go and little time to get there. And you may want to cover your ears."
And with that, the King of Narnia lets out a loud roar before racing off into the forest.
