WE HIT 200 READS!!!!! AHHHH! Thank you guys so much for reading it really means a lot!! :D
3 weeks later...
Christmas time was nearing and Sophie's family was going to have a huge party and feast on Christmas Eve in 5 days. They had invited all of her friends, Keefe, Fitz, Biana, Dex, Wylie, Linh, Tam, Marella, Alden, Della, Juline, Kesler, and the triplets Rex, Bex, and Lex were having their own Christmas party with some of their friends, so they wouldn't be coming. Thankfully.
Keefe had been out of the healing center for one week already, and his body had fully healed. But he was still plagued by nightmares and terrors. But he was getting better. Slowly. Hopefully the terrors would begin to disappear, but Sophie knew full force how long nightmares could stick around. He stopped making jokes though, and he became less Keefe-like. All of her friends realized it too, they were just too afraid to say something. The only time when Keefe would possibly crack a joke is when he was with her, but even that was rare now. And Sophie hated it. She didn't realize how much she enjoyed his sense of humor--the way he could make her happy when no one else could--until it was too late. Too late. She was always too late.
"Sophie? Did you pick out a dress for the party?" Edaline asked her, shaking her from her thoughts.
"No not yet, I was going to go dress shopping with Biana today if that's okay," She said.
"Sure. That sounds great. Remember to bring Sandor okay?"
"I will!" She agreed, rushing over to him.
"Hey Sandor! You're going shopping!" Sophie gave a smug smile.
He sighed, "Alright."
"I'm not super excited either, but who knows, it might be fun?"
Sandor raised an eyebrow. Sophie rolled her eyes at him. KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
"Oh, that must be Biana. Bye Mom!" Sophie called to her mom before walking out the door with Sandor to greet Biana.
"Hey, Sophie! Ready to go shopping?"
"Let's get it over with," Sophie gaplayful eye roll and smirk. Smirk...
"Aw, don't worry, it'll be fun!" Then Biana pulled out her leaping crystal, and leaped them to Atlantis to shop the day away.
Sophie said goodbye to Biana and walked back into her house, carrying two bags, one was her dress, and the other was her accessories.
"Hey, Sophie. How was shopping?" Edaline asked.
"It was good. Not as bad as I thought it would be. But still kind of annoying. It took us forever to find the right dress, but we eventually found the perfect dress for Biana and I."
"That's wonderful Sophie. Do you want to head upstairs to try it on?" Edaline suggested.
"Sure," Sophie headed upstairs and walked into her room after Sandor finished checking it. They had been extra careful with her safety after Keefe was captured by the Neverseen. Speaking of Keefe... Sophie hoped he would like this dress. She had picked it for him after all.
Sophie's dress fit perfectly, and slowly the days began to countdown to Christmas Eve. 4. 3. 2. 1. And then 0. Christmas Eve was finally here. And Sophie couldn't wait. She quickly changed into her dress and added a bit of pink lip gloss, and mascara to her face. She did her hair in stronger waves than usual, painted her nails an ice blue to match with her dress, and put on a long necklace with a gold chain to complete the look.
She rushed downstairs and the sounds of Edaline's snaps filled the air as she conjured tons of food, Grady was cleaning up the living room and finishing the decorations. Sophie walked outside and stared at her mistletoe. She knew exactly where to hang it.
She walked over to the ending of her porch and pinned it to the ceiling. Perfect.
"Sophie! I need your help with the gifts!" Grady shouted from the house.
"Coming!" Sophie shouted, and dashed back into the house.
"Where are we supposed to place the presents again?" Grady asked.
"Under the tree?" Sophie raised an eyebrow.
"Right. The tree."
Sophie rolled her eyes playfully. Sophie told the elves about Christmas a few weeks ago, and they decided it sounded like a fun holiday to celebrate too. Edaline was cleaning off the table and lighting the candles, filling the air with the sweet scent of tropical fruit. At least, that's what Sophie assumed it was.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
Sophie rushed to the door and opened it. Linh and Tam were waiting outside. They each had a bunch of presents and bags in their hands.
"Hey!" Linh smiled, giving Sophie a quick hug. Linh was wearing a lilac purple dress with short sleeves and the dress went down to her feet. It looked comfortable and loose, going with Linh's flexible personality.
Tam gave her a small nod. He was wearing an all-black suit, which matched with his dark hair, making his sliver bangs stand out.
"Merry Christmas, please come in," Sophie held the door open for Tam and Linh.
"Merry Christmas to you too," Linh smiled politely.
"Merry Christmas," Tam agreed.
Linh and Tam dropped off their presents and bags underneath the tree, and Linh started talking to Grady, while Tam hit the snack bar. Sophie waited outside for more guests to come. A soft snow started to fall, and Sophie caught a few with her tongue.
"Hey, Foster. Having fun already?" Keefe gave a half-smile.
"Keefe!" Sophie shouted, tackling hugging him before he could get to the door.
"Hey, Foster. Missed you too," He whispered. Sophie beamed.
"I'm so glad you're here."
"Me too. I brought gifts. That's what you're supposed to do, right?" Keefe asked. He was holding tons of gifts in his hands, and he looked like he was about ready to drop them on the snowy ground.
"Yeah. Let me help you with that." Sophie took the presents from his hands and couldn't help but notice that white eye burned into his skin. Sophie shuddered. She didn't know how he could live with that. Sophie probably would have burned her skin right off. Or maybe he already tried.
They walked into the house, and dropped the presents underneath the Christmas tree.
"Oh, I forgot to say, Merry Christmas, Foster," Keefe gave a warm smile.
"Merry Christmas, Keefe." Sophie noticed he was wearing a navy blue tux with a flower pinned to his blazer, a brown belt, dark blue pants, and a black bow tie. He was incredibly handsome to say the least.
"You look beautiful," Keefe whispered to her. Sophie blushed, and she wondered if he would notice she picked ice blue. Her new favorite color. The color of his gorgeous eyes. But if he did he didn't say anything.
"You look very handsome too," Sophie returned the compliment, then blushed again.
"Thanks," Keefe gave a sweet smile. Sophie was suddenly aware of how close they were standing.
"Okay! Keefe, that's enough," Grady grabbed Keefe by the arm and dragged him over to the other side of the room. Sophie shook her head and laughed. Grady would never ease up on Keefe would he? Oh, well. Once Sophie marries him he'll get to know him better then. Wait what?! Once she marries him?! Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down Sophie! She scolded herself.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
"I'll get it!" Sophie called. She walked outside to find the entire Vacker family, each of them with gifts.
"Hey, glad you could make it!" Sophie smiled at them. She noticed Fitz was staring at her for a little too long, but she decided to ignore it.
"Merry Christmas, Sophie!" Biana smiled. She was wearing a flowy purple dress with ruffles at the sleeves and a belt made out of silver sparkles that drizzled down her dress.
"Wow, Biana, you look great!" Sophie smiled.
"Thanks," Biana smiled. Then she went inside, followed by Alden and Della.
"Hey, Sophie. You look really nice," Fitz said quietly. Fitz was wearing a maroon tux, with a black bowtie, and dark pants.
"Thanks. You look great too. Would you like to come in?" Sophie asked, gesturing to the open door.
"Yeah. Thanks, oh, and Merry Christmas!" Fitz smiled back at her.
"Merry Christmas, Fitz!" Sophie laughed, and smiled to herself. Now all she had to do was wait for Dex, Juline, Kesler, Wylie, and Marella. Sophie decided to socialize with some of her friends while she was waiting for them to arrive. Once they came the party would really begin.
"Hey, Keefe," Sophie sat down on the couch next to him. Keefe was sitting by himself, and his eyes were fixated on one spot in the room.
"Oh, hey Foster. Sorry, I was zoning out there," He looked over at her. His ice-blue eyes were still full of fear and worry.
"So... How are you enjoying the party?" She asked.
"It's really nice. Thanks for inviting me."
"You think I wouldn't invite you?" It wasn't sarcastic. She was actually asking the question.
"I don't know," Keefe looked away. Sophie covered his hand with her's. He looked back at her.
"You are my number one priority," She whispered.
"And you are mine."
And they stayed like that for a while, their fingers interwoven and their bodies close enough to be touching, but just barely. Sophie never wanted to move. Never wanted to leave. She wished she could just stop time for her and Keefe. It would just be the two of them, in this moment forever.
But that wish is impossible. And so after a few minutes there was a knock at the door, and Sophie left to go answer it.
Dex, Kesler, Juline were standing outside holding bundles of gifts. Dex was wearing a black tux with a black bowtie, and black pants.
"Hey, Dex! Merry Christmas!" Sophie smiled, opening the door wide for them.
"Merry Christmas Sophie!" They all chanted at once. Kesler and Juline dropped their presents off and then headed into the kitchen where Grady, Edaline, Alden, and Della were, and Dex gave her a quick smile before placing his presents underneath the Christmas tree and going to talk to Biana. Sophie smiled back, and shut the door behind them.
Luckily Sophie didn't have to wait long before Wylie showed up, and Linh rushed to answer it. Wylie was wearing a blue tux with a black bowtie.
"Merry Christmas, Wylie," Sophie went to greet Wylie.
"Merry Christmas, Sophie," Wylie nodded, and walked over to Linh.
Sophie took a seat on the couch and watched her friends laughing and talking with each other. They looked like they were having so much fun. If only life could always be like this. No more Neverseen. No more attacks. No more fears. No more deaths. No more pain. But life didn't work that way. At least, not for her. But today was Christmas Eve, and she was going to celebrate like it was the last day of her life.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
Sophie was shaken out of her thoughts by a knock at the door. It must have been Marella. Linh answered the door again, and Marella walked inside wearing a short orange dress.
"Merry Christmas, Marella," Sophie greeted her.
"Merry Christmas, Sophie," Marella smiled back.
(Sorry for the weird ending the chapter was getting long so it just cut it off here, lol.)
Also, I just came up with THE BEST idea. What if I write another story called Kotlc characters in... And I can do random short stories such as the Kotlc characters in the Hunger Games or a Zombie Apocalypse... etc? Let me know if you guys would read it!
