𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗬 where people were more afraid then ever before, you could hear the sobs of little girls and boys who were at the reaping for the first time.

Alyss didn't have the worst life in district 11, she had people who she cared for and helped around the district, people said she would lit up the room with one smile, she made the children around the district happier made them feel good for a day just forgetting all the shit that was happening, but there wasn't a lot food, she sometimes had to steal from shops to feed her mother who was very sick.

But today everything was gonna change.

Reed on the other hand always despised the girl, he didn't understand why she was so nice, they lived in complete shit, the way she was so happy always a smile on her face, although he never actually spoke to her, he wasn't afraid no he just didn't feel like he needed to.

Reed was pretty sure he'd get chosen, he knew the capital wasn't dumb and him killing a peace keeper didn't help, this year his name was in there 45 times.

Alyss and her mother walked into town square her dad getting pushed by the men and them by the woman.

"Happy Hunger Games.." A blond woman, who was way too overdressed said, "Welcome to the 66th Hunger Games!". All the people stood in silence it was almost awkward. "Well, female's first!" Effie walked over to a glass bowl and reached her hand in then walked back. "For the female tribute of district 11..", She spoke, "Alyss Barlowe..". Alyss face flushed pure shock as she heard the gasped of the people.

"Alyss Barlowe..?" she started walking as she felt someone's eyes on her, Reed Keller, he looked so scared for her. "Come on dear!". Alyss continued to walk till she stood next to Effie, "very well, now for the male tribute." The blonde walked to the other bowl and grabbed of the notes. "For the male tribute of district 11.. Reed Keller." Alyss was looking at the ground when her eyes met with Reed, who was walking towards the justice building.

"Very well. May the odds be ever in your favour." Effie said before pulling both of them into the justice building. "Congratulations! Well be on the train in a hour, you'll get to say goodbye to you family and then we'll go." Alyss saw Reed nodding even tho he didn't have any family. She found it sad how he was alone only at 15 years old.

Reed and Alyss were sitting in a room to get to know each other better, and to wait on her family to come say goodbye. "Reed?" she looked at the black haired boy. "What?" he said in a cold tone. "Why do you hate me?" she asked him, not knowing if she'd wanted to know his answer. "You act like everything is fine and good when it's not!" he raised his voice at the end of his sentence. She got his answer in a way. People die for these stupid games, so she decided to leave it as he would be more mad if she went and talked against him.

Alyss bid farewell to her parents and her younger brother, giving them warm hugs before heading towards Reed. Together, they made their way to the waiting car, anticipation lingering in the air as they embarked on a journey to reach the train station.
