Lilith never thought she would reach the point in her life where she would be itching to be back at school. She was counting down the days, and the week after the van incident, she was finally allowed back. While she was okay, her parents wanted her to stay home and watch over her in case her health took a turn for the worse. However, she couldn't be any more excited than to be back at school with her friends. She spent her days on the phone with them and texting them constantly so she wouldn't miss a single thing about what had happened that day—she couldn't appreciate them more for keeping her in the loop. But, on the other hand, it was easier to deflect when Bella began to question how she and Edward got out of the incident without any major injuries; lying was was easier to do when not face to face, and she was glad when the girl eventually dropped it.

Lilith couldn't blame Bella for being curious about the incident since if it weren't for Edward's apparent supernatural strength or Lilith's abilities, that van would've crushed the both of them and they would've been dead. Thankfully, Bella was settling for a lousy 'it was a miracle' explanation. But, Lilith knew that her friend would eventually want a better explanation.

The rest of the week she waited impatiently for her parents to come into her room and tell her that they were moving again because of the incident, and with every passing day it made her more and more anxious for her to get the news and prepare herself to pack everything up and leave once again. However, she couldn't help but feel excited while she got ready to be back in time for the biology field trip that was happening that day and she had been buzzing about it all week.

She quickly got changed into the clothing she had picked out the night before and began to quietly walk downstairs. Despite the excitement, she was still tired and loud sounds irritated her when she was sleepy—even if the noise was made by her—she also didn't want to tell her parents about that pet peeve in case they took it as she had a head concussion from the van and they had missed the signs. As she made her way down the steps, she paused when she overheard her parents talking in hushed whispers, "They found him dead, they're calling it an animal attack." Sierra told her husband quietly, "But, it was no animal, Oliver. The body had no blood left."

"I know, honey, I was told." Oliver told his wife, placing a hand over hers on the kitchen table, "Carlisle and I have spoken about it, but, we aren't too worried. We agreed to keep an eye out in case it gets worse."

Lilith's eyebrows furrowed. What did Carlisle Cullen have to do with anything?

"If the attacks start coming any closer, we're going to have to do something about it." Sierra said pointedly, "We cant risk them drawing too much attention to this area in case it leads them to Lilith." Her eyebrows furrowed further as she listened in, what did she or her family have to do with the attacks? Were they afraid that she could be the next victim? If anything, she would be safer since she could defend herself.

"She will be fine, we're protected here. It looks like they're heading further away from Forks as they continue up the coast line." Oliver said, "Now, let's end this discussion, she'll be down any minute."

Lilith waited a few moments as she tried to process what she had overheard, she wondered what her parents were keeping from her and why they were, they never had secrets, they were always open with each other but she knew she couldn't go down and demand answers; if her parents were keeping something from her, chances are it was going to stay that way for a while so she would have to be sneaky about it and try to get as much information as possible. She then waited a few more moments before walking down so it didn't seem suspicious and she couldn't let them know that she had overheard what they had said, "Morning." She greeted happily, pretending everything was okay and she wasn't suspicious of her own parents.

"Morning, monkey, are you going to join us for breakfast?" Her mother asked from the table.

Lilith picked up an apple and a breakfast bar from the fridge and putting it into her bag along with her packed lunch, "No, Bella is picking me up earlier today so we can get good seats on the bus for our field trip today." She told her parents, "Which, by the way, did you guys sign that permission slip I gave to you last week?"

Oliver nodded, "It's over there." He said pointing over towards the side of the fridge where the slip was pinned by a magnet.

Lilith made a small noise of realisation and plucked it off from the fridge and placed it in her bag, "Thanks, papa." She said. The family then heard a beep of Bella's car horn and the blonde went to towards the door, waving goodbye to her parents and thanking Bella for having such good timing.

The car ride was silent as Bella drove to school, it wasn't too far away from where Lilith lived and they were going to have another half an hour together on the bus ride so she didn't mind the comfortable silence. Her mind was too chaotic trying to piece together theories as to what it could have been that her parents were talking about in the kitchen to be able to hold a solid conversation anyway.

The entire ride Lilith was spent texting Mike; trying to convince him to ask Bella to the prom. While she was away, Mike and Lilith became close friends and he told her about how he believed that he was crushing on Bella, but, he was also confused about his feelings for Jessica. Lilith felt bad for him being stuck in a triangle and not being sure who he had feelings for, but, he truly believed he was in love with Bella and Lilith wanted her friends to be happy and at least try. Even when Bella said she wasn't into dances, there was no doubt in Lilith's mind that the right guy would make her want to go and she hoped it would be Mike. She thought the two of them could make a really sweet couple.

When Bella parked her truck and the two got out, the blonde overheard Mr. Molina telling them class that he needed everyone's permission slips before they got on the bus. As soon as Lilith stood in her thoughts, her eyes traced the ground until she saw three sets of feet that she recognised as the Cullens' walking towards the bus. She made eye contact with Edward, but, looked away almost instantly. She hadn't spoken to him since the hospital and she couldn't tell if she liked it that way or not. She was in two minds about it since she missed the feeling she got when she was around him, for whatever reason it was. But, on the other hand, it was better for them not to be friends since their identities could stay a secret.

Without speaking to him, she couldn't tell if he was going to keep her secret or not, and her curious self wanted to find out what he was and how he managed to push away the van. Stop it, you're just trying to look for excuses to speak to him. She scoffed at herself. Remember, it's better this way. Lilith then turned to Bella, about to ask her a question when Mike walked over to them and interrupted them, "Look at you, huh? You're alive!" He said to Lilith, making her chuckle.

"Yeah, I'm sure the week away didn't help the rumours of me possibly dying." Lilith responded to him, referring to a few of their texts and calls they had during the week about how a few rumours had started that Lilith died. She was sure that Tyler felt horrible when he heard those, she felt so bad for him that she texted him also just to make sure he knew that she was alive. Tyler was also a really great guy, she didn't blame him for the accident at all which he was incredibly thankful for.

"Yeah, false alarm, I guess. We'll get her next time." Bells added jokingly and Lilith pinched her arm.

"Hey, Lil." Mike started, grabbing the blonde's attention, "Tyler wanted to speak to you, he said he still feels bad about the accident so he wanted to help you out all day as another one of his apologies."

Lilith was slightly confused as this was news to her before she realised that this was Mike's way of telling her to go away so he could ask Bella out. Lilith let out a quiet 'oh' before turning to Bella, "I'll see you on the bus." She said, taking the hint and walking over to Tyler, "Hey, Drift King." She teased.

"Oh, my God." Tyler groaned and pulled her into a hug, "Thank God it wasn't someone pretending to be you this whole time. No one believed me when I said you were alive." He joked back, the two unaware that the interaction had caught the attention of Edward who was looking at them with a hint of jealousy cursing through him.

"You and I both know that no one here is smart enough to pull something like that off." She rolled her eyes and pulled away from the hug, "And you would pick up on it if it wasn't me."

"You're right, no one would get passed me." Tyler flicked her nose, "What are you doing over here, anyway? Not that I don't appreciate your company."

"Mike is attempting to ask Bella out to the prom." Lilith told Tyler, "He's most likely a blubbering, nervous wreck, but, he's trying to figure out his feelings."

Tyler clicked his tongue, "You set him up with failure. Bella is gonna say no to him like she was going to with Eric." He shook his head. Tyler remembered the sourpuss look Eric wore on his face for the rest of the day after Bella rejected him and he just knew Mike was next in line for the No-Go-Ride.

"There's potential with Bella and Mike." Lilith whined, "I can feel it."

"Nope, not with Jessica in the mix." Tyler disagreed. Lilith and Tyler both had spoken about the Jessica, Bella and Mike triangle and what their thoughts were on the situation. Tyler had bet on Mike and Jessica, while Lilith was a firm believer in Mike and Bella, "She won't like it and she won't let it happen."

Lilith groaned dramatically, "Stop crushing my hope for them."

Tyler flicked her nose again and then reached into his pocket for a piece of gum, "Just giving you a small reality check, the accident must of really damaged your eye sight also." He retorted, the two were completely okay after the accident and they had gotten close enough in their friendship to make jokes about it considering Lilith didn't hold a grudge towards Tyler; but, she could still see the worry and guilt in his eyes whenever he mentions it.

"Nope, I think it's you that needs it." Lilith disagreed, "Just you wait, they'll be the cutest couple at prom and in all of Forks."

"Speaking of prom, are you going to go?" Tyler asked, leaning against the newly fixed van. She knew that wasn't him asking her to go, she was well aware that Tyler had been crushing on a girl in his maths class and he had managed to grow enough courage to ask her and get a yes from her.

Lilith rocked on her feet and shrugged, "I don't know, I can't say I've ever been to a school dance. I've never been at a school long enough to make friends or a boyfriend to give me a reason to go or we moved before the date of prom." She answered him, "But, I am riding on the idea of third-wheeling with Bella and Mike if she says yes to him."

Tyler then winced, "It looks like you're going to be a bit disappointed." He said pointing to Bella and Mike, who looked like a kicked puppy. It was clear that Bella had said no.

"Hey, come on, we gotta go." Mr. Molina then began to call out to the kids who hadn't gotten onto the bus yet, "Green is what? Good. Let's go, come on." The kids all began to hurry their way onto the two busses.

Lilith and Bella day next to each other in the middle of the bus, Lilith grabbed the window seat and Bella sat on the aisle seat, which she didn't mind, "Did you say no to Mike?" She asked Bella.

"I told him he should ask Jessica because she wanted to go with him." Bella answered.

"Bella!" Lilith whined, "Why would you do that?"

Bella played with the ends of her hair nervously, picking it at the small split ends, "I don't know, I guess I just don't feel that way for him. I like someone else—I think—and I'm going to Jacksonville to see my mom that weekend."

Lilith's eyes widened at Bella's confession. She loved people in love and always wanted to know who was into who, "Who is it?"

"He's someone I grew up with, he doesn't go here, but, he's pretty cool." Bella answered and Lilith pouted at all the information she was going to get from her and put her earphones in to play her music to pass the time, along with send uplifting messages to Mike for trying.

"Egg shells, carrot tops. Compost is cool." Mr. Molina said as they walked through the greenhouse, "Now, stuff that in there, Eric. Very good." He told the boy who was shoving compost into a processor and bent down to put a cup at the tap, "Now, I am going to make a steaming cup of compost tea."

Mr. Molina held the cup up and Tyler grabbed it, "I dare you to drink it." He said holding it towards Lilith.

"Only if you drink it also." Lilith challenged.

"This is recycling in its most basic form, guys." Mr. Molina continued teaching and snatched the plastic cup away from Tyler and Lilith, "Don't drink it! It's for the plants."

Tyler and Lilith pouted at each other and continued to walk through the greenhouse, completely unaware that Edward was the person in front of her when she accidentally stepped on the back of his shoes, "Oops, sorry!" She said, feeling guilty. The boy turned around to glare at whoever did it, but his eyes softened a little when he realised it was Lilith, "Oh, um... yep, sorry!" She said again awkwardly while avoiding looking into his eyes, still not knowing how to speak to him.

"How are you feeling?" Edward suddenly asked her, slowing his pace a little so he could walk in line next to her as she continued to make her way through the greenhouse.

"Fine." She answered bluntly, "How are you feeling?"

"Fine." He said to her back.

"You know, Bella is starting to wonder how the van got stopped." Lilith started, her eyes looking at the plants as they walked past them. She couldn't help herself but bring it up to continue the dead conversation—she blamed that part of her that weirdly missed him.

"Tell her I had an adrenaline rush and that it's very common. She can even Google it." Edward said to her with a scowl and that nice image of him immediately shattered.

"I'm not going to say that to her!" Lilith snapped quietly, "I told her that we just got very lucky on where the van hit her truck and how we were positioned that it didn't cause too much damage. She saw my injuries, so it's easier to believe that we didn't completely come out of it unharmed."

"And how do you trust her to believe that?" Edward asked her rudely.

"Look, if I wanted Bella to know something, then I would have told her already and when she wants to try and figure out the truth, I'll try and stop her as much as I can. I am making sure your secret is kept a secret on the sole basis that mine stays kept also." She said to him sternly, offended that he didn't trust her enough to be able to handle the situation without being rude to her friend, "I just don't want to move again." She then softened her tone. Lilith looked back to see Bella laughing with Angela, Tyler and Eric, and she smiled. She wouldn't want to leave when she just made friends that she could feel were going to be lifelong friends of hers just because her secret was to get out.

Edward sighed, understanding where she was coming from and relating to her situation also, "I'm sorry for being so rude all the time. I just think it would be the best way for people to stay away and not to find out."

Lilith was just about to comment on how she didn't even know what he was himself when Jessica came bouncing over to her happily, "Lilith, guess who just asked me to prom!" She said giddily.

Edward then walked away, not really caring or wanting to be about Jessica, leaving the two girls by themselves, "I guess Mike finally asked you, huh?" Lilith tightly smiled—cursing Bella; the mysterious crush of hers, and Tyler on the inside.

"Yeah, I actually totally thought he was going to ask Bella." Jess said, "But, he didn't, he asked me. I just hope it's not going to be weird now, right?"

"No, I doubt it." Lilith disagreed, knowing that Bella had feelings for some mystery guy and couldn't care less about Mike being with Jess, "You guys will be great together regardless."

"I know, right?" Jessica quickly responded causing Lilith to raise her eyebrows at how fast she had gotten that out but she didn't do anything else besides smile, happy that at least Jess and Mike will be happy, "Hey, what were you and Edward talking about?" She asked.

"Oh, just some stuff, he asked me how I was feeling and if I was okay after the accident." Lilith answered, not really giving Jessica any details, "I guess that's all I'd really get out of someone who doesn't talk to anyone else but his family." She said, hiding any trace of the fact that they share a secret together.

"Yeah, just don't get your hopes up. Edward Cullen doesn't date." Jess pointed out, giving her a side hug, "I don't want you to be disappointed."

"Yeah, thanks. I appreciate it." She smiled. Even though Jessica could come off a bit strong, she was a nice girl deep down who cared about her friends in a different way.

When the trip was finally over, everyone was gathered outside waiting for the buses to be ready for people to get on and get back to school so they could go home for the day. Lilith was stood next to Tyler who was smirking proudly once he found out about Mike and Jessica while Eric and Mike played with the worms on the stick, pretending to almost throw them at Angela, Jessica and Bella. Lilith then looked to the side to see that Mr. Molina was beginning to get people on the bus. She turned to Bella, "I'm going to go and get us some good seats." She told her and started to walk towards the bus.

She heard footsteps behind her, seeing Edward coming up to her, "Hey, Lilith, I don't think we should be friends." He suddenly said to her, causing her to be a bit blindsided by the 'sudden change of heart'.

"With the way you act around me, I didn't think we were friends." Lilith admitted, "And in all honesty, you should've just let the van crush me, maybe then it would save you all the regret you feel because you saved me and exposed your secret."

"Do you really think I regret saving you?" Edward asked her, regretting everything he had just said because of how it made him come across to her. He didn't want her to think he hated her, he just wanted him and his family's secret to be safe and he thought if they weren't friends, maybe her secret would stay safe in her mind also.

"Edward, I can see it in your eyes and in the way you speak to me; you regret it, but, I just don't know why. You have no reason to feel as if your secret wouldn't be safe with me." Lilith told him.

Edward sighed, "Lilith, I—"

"Hi." A small girl who matched Lilith's height walked over to them, the blonde instantly recognising her as Alice Cullen, and the boy behind her was Jasper Hale, "Are you going to be riding with us?" She asked her, almost hopefully.

"If it's okay with her." Edward said to his adoptive sister.

Lilith bit her lip, "No, I think I'll stick with the other bus." She said and turned around to walk to the other bus, "There's a lot less tension on that one." She added with a whisper as she walked away, not knowing that the three adoptive siblings heard it completely fine and leaving Alice to glare at Edward for ruining any potential between them.
