Nicholas decided he was gonna sleep early and laid on the floor. I could see the air escaping the mattress, it was getting thinner every couple of minutes. He didn't notice because he was fast asleep.

I decided to put my book on my nightstand and just try to go to sleep. My body tossed and turned for about fifteen minutes until I finally found a good sleeping position. I was almost asleep until I heard noises coming from the floor. I think he finally found out that there was air escaping the mattress.

"Jesus fucking christ." He cursed under his breath. I couldn't help but chuckle quietly.

It was quiet for a moment, I could only hear his brain thinking of what to do and it made me anxious. I heard the door open softly and heard him walking downstairs.

Was he gonna sleep on the couch?

Some voices were heard from the living room. A few moments later Nicholas returned to my room. He grabbed his own duvet and pillow, he threw them on the right side of my bed and laid down.

Did he just lay down next to me?

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked confused.

"My mattress is broken, your mom said I could sleep on the right side of your bed." He whispered softly.

I sighed at my mother's words, she is trying to trick us into something and he was going with it. I grabbed two pillows that laid on the floor and put them between us.

"Seriously? A pillow wall." He laughed.

"You never know."

"Ava, you can't fucking be serious." He sat up in the bed, I could feel his gaze on me.

"Nicholas let it go and sleep." I told him dryly.

"Fucking grow up Ava!" He whisper yelled.

I sat up as well, my blood was boiling. "I have to grow up? Who was the one yelling and me in the club?" I spat back.

He stayed quiet.

"It's your fault that this all happened you know." He dared to say.

"You think I don't know? I'm sorry I put my education before you and didn't hang out with you every fucking minute of the day." My sarcasm was very clear.

"But you know where it brought me? I work at one of the biggest writing companies in London, and where are you? You had one movie and so happen to be casted for an upcoming series. But you're still doing nothing after all those years."

I regretted what came out of my mouth, but he was getting on my nerves.

"Guess you're still so fucking arrogant after 7 years." He got up from bed and grabbed some sweats and a hoodie. Nicholas left the room so fast that I couldn't respond to him.

The silence was getting louder by the second. A loud thud came from outside. I walked over to my window and saw Nicholas, he wore his jacket and a beanie for the cold. Was he walking away in the middle of the night?

My parents would kill me if I didn't go after him. So I ran downstairs and put on my jacket and sneakers. I left my mum a text that we were on a walk, so she wouldn't be worried.

I couldn't run very fast in the sand but did my best to reach Nicholas. It was very dark and I couldn't see anything. Then I accidentally distracted myself and lost him in the dark.

"Goddammit." I sighed out loud.

I grabbed to my pocket but then I remembered that my phone was still in the house. So now I was lost in the dark at a beach. I tried to find my way back but I went to the wrong direction.

Then a cold sensation engulfed me.

He wanted to take a walk and then return to the house when Ava would be sleeping. He had his light to guide him through the beach but decided to return back the same way after about 30 minutes.

He was almost and the beach house until he heard a scream and a wave crashing. He stood still for a moment, trying to figure out if it was someone or just a noise on the beach.

Nicholas decided to walk towards the waves with the light of his phone. He saw a black figure trying to walk out of the water. What the hell was going on?

He walked closed and shone his light at figure. Nicholas looked shocked when he found out the person was familiar. It was Ava. Nicholas dropped his phone on the floor and jogged over to her. Ava got closer to him as she tried to escape the water.

He immediately grabbed her by her arms when she reached him. "What the hell are you thinking." He pulled her closer.

"I went the wrong way." Ava gulped, she probably swallowed some sea water.

"You think?" He said sarcastically.

She was shivering crazy. Nicholas walked out of the water with her. He removed her drenched jacket with his dry one. He was lucky that only his legs were wet.

Nicholas picked up his phone up and put his arm around Ava's shoulder for guidance. After a couple of minutes they arrived back at the house.

"You should take a hot shower to warm up, I'll make you some tea." Nicholas suggested. Ava gave him a short nod and walked upstairs.

AFTER HALF AN HOUR, Ava returned back downstairs. She wore a big shirt and some sweatpants under it. She was still cold after taking a 15 minute shower, but a big cup of tea was waiting for her.

"Here take this." Nicholas whispered and sat down next to her on the couch.

"Thanks."

It was quiet for a couple of minutes. They both didn't know what to say to each other. Ava was shivering next to him as she took sips of her tea. He removed his sweater and handed it to her. She wasn't his favourite person at this moment, but he wasn't cruel enough to let her be cold. Ava took the sweater and put it on.

"Why did you even go outside?" He questioned, breaking the eternal silence.

"You walked outside angry, I didn't want anything happening to you, and my mum would kill me if she knew that we fought and that you walked away." Ava explained putting down her tea.

"Then I got lost and accidentally ended up in the water. I didn't even hear the waves."

"Are you okay now?" He whispered.

Ava nodded softly. A little relief was coming off Nicholas's shoulders.

"I'm sorry about earlier, I didn't mean any of it."

"No, you did mean it otherwise you wouldn't say it, right?" It wasn't a complete lie, she was sorry but what she said earlier were her true feelings.

"I know, it just hurts to hear something like that from someone you know so long." She admitted.

"It's been a long night, we should go to sleep." Nicholas sighed. He didn't want to continue this conversation any longer.

"Yes, go ahead, I'll be there in a minute."

Nicholas walked up the stairs to go back, while Ava stayed back and drank the rest of her tea. When it was finished she put the mug back in the kitchen and went upstairs. Nic was already asleep when she returned to her bedroom. His hair lied messy on his forehead and his mouth hung open. Soft snored escaped his mouth once in a while, but Ava was used to it from when they were younger.

She put the duvet over herself and closed her eyes. It didn't take long for her to fall asleep after the events of today.
