CHAPTER THREE:
BE OF SOME HELP

SHE WAS FINDING HER TIME on earth to be complicated more or less. Celeste had been staying with Peggy for the past few days, trying to understand and comprehend what it meant to be a human without any angel wings and a blinding light in order to fight off the men that thought they owned the place. The angel was walking around the town, Peggy currently at work.

It was a nice day. It was warm, the sun shining down and practically blinding the angel. She was still trying to find James Barnes. She wished that she had a picture or something to go off of. She wished her father would have given her a hint, or had landed her somewhere relatively close to where this man was supposed to be. How was she supposed to protect him if she didn't even know where he was. Or what he even looked like.

ย  ย ย  "Give me a sign. Please, for all that is holy." Celeste breathed.

ย  ย ย  "Who are you talking to, exactly?" She jumped at the sound of males voice, turning on her heel to look at the man. He had short dark hair, and a curious eyebrow raised as he looked at her. She offered him a small smile as she let out a light chuckle, shrugging her shoulders.

ย  ย ย  "I am new to town and am struggling." She answered. It wasn't a lie. It just wasn't the full truth. "My friend is currently at work, and I decided to walk around, try and explore the place. But now, I seem to be lost and have absolutely no clue how to get home."

ย  ย ย  "Maybe I could be of some help." The man suggested. "I've lived here my whole life."

ย  ย ย  "As much as I would appreciate that, I don't think my friend would appreciate me showing some random stranger her house." Celeste offered him a small smile before going to turn around.

ย  ย ย  "Would we be strangers if I told you my name?"

ย  ย ย  The blonde looked at him before smiling as she shook her head. "I guess not. It would be nice to know someone else in this town."ย ย

ย  ย ย  He smiled, a kind and gorgeous smile as he held out a hand towards her. "James Barnes. But, my friends call me Bucky."

ย  ย ย  This was him. This was the man that she was looking for. The one that she was supposed to protect and look after. Her father didn't warn him that he would look like that. She couldn't deny that the human was very nice to look at. But she knew the rules. So, she plastered a smile on her face as she held out her hand, shaking his. "Celestial. But my friends call me Celeste."

ย  ย ย  "That is a very beautiful name, for a beautiful girl."

ย  ย ย  "Look at you, being clichรฉ." She chuckled, ignoring the blush that had almost crept up on her cheeks. She didn't quite understand the entire concept of 'clichรฉ', but Peggy had shown her enough movie's to understand what was clichรฉ and what wasn't. Quite frankly the movies were starting to bore the girl, and she was going to have to convince Peggy to let them do something else in their free time.

ย  ย ย  "Well, we aren't classified as strangers anymore, technically." Bucky told the girl. "So, if you still wanted help getting home. . ."

ย  ย ย  "It's not necessarily home." She corrected him. "I just haven't found my own place to live. And I also haven't really been looking, but that's besides the point."

ย  ย ย  "So, it's home for right now."

ย  ย ย  She shrugged, nodding her head as the two started walking. "Yeah, I guess so."ย

ย  ย ย  "Where did you live before here, if you don't mind me asking?" Bucky decided to start a conversation with the girl. He wasn't one to be stuck on one girl for so long, maybe taking a girl out for dancing and then moving on. But there was something about Celeste. It was clichรฉ of him to think about, but suddenly clichรฉ's were his favorite thing.

Celeste was taken off guard by his question. She furrowed her eyebrows for a moment, trying to think of exactly what she was supposed to say. She wasn't very good at lying. That much she could tell by the way she had easily caved in with Peggy about who she was. She still couldn't believe that she had showed the human her wings. She huffed, shrugging her shoulders.

ย  ย ย  "I've never really stayed in one place." Celeste was quick to tell him. "I like the adventure and not the boring setting of one town every day."

ย  ย ย  "So, I guess that means you won't be staying in Brooklyn that long, will you?" Bucky questioned, glancing towards the girl. She turned her head to look at him, meeting his eyes before she turned her attention back in front of her.

ย  ย ย  "I don't know. Maybe if someone gives me a reason to stay a little longer, I'll stay." Her lips lifted upwards slightly as she glanced at him through the corner of her eye, noticing the smile that had been placed on his face. "As long as I get some sense of adventure, I'm sure that I'll be perfectly fine right here in Brooklyn."

ย  ย ย  "If the lady wants an adventure, she shall get one." Bucky smiled at the girl and she smiled back. "I was going to go dancing after this. Would you like to come?"

ย  ย ย  "Dancing?" Celeste asked.

ย  ย ย  "Oh, don't tell me you've never been dancing." The man looked at her in disbelief. She chuckled as she shook her head. "Well, that is going to have to change immediately."

ย  ย ย  "Oh?" Celeste cocked an eyebrow at him, watching as he led her into the building in which many other couples were in fact dancing. He turned towards her and held out his hand.

ย  ย ย  "May I have this dance?"

ย  ย ย  Celeste smiled before placing her hand into his. "Yes, you may."
