𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗚𝗢, 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗔

'We have threats of a war and you guys will be the first ones to check this out if anything else goes down.'

The words the Admiral had told us earlier were still running through my mind. Years of peace only to be destroyed by a new arising messiah in Iraq threatening what could be the next 9/11.

Though I loved the respect me, the guys, and Dinah earned as a Seal team now more than anything I hated the fact we were who the higher-ups consistently called when it was some real danger approaching and they needed someone treacherous dealt with.

The Marines are soon to be deployed and if they can't get the situation under wraps then it's our Seal squad they're going to send out there to take him and his team down.

I didn't care before I met my wife, some days I even hoped I'd be next to die. But now I cared more than anything, I made so many promises to her that I intend to keep and couldn't wrap my mind around the thought of leaving her widowed or in pain whether shallow or steep.

I didn't just know how I was going to tell Dinah. And on top of that, the news had to come at the worst time possible, it was two days before Christmas and my birthday was the day after New Year and she's been more than excited.

I mean, I left home for work the day after Thanksgiving and came back to the whole house inside and out decorated in Christmas decor.

It felt more than different telling her something like this now. Before when me and her were on deployment it was basically us and the guys watching over the Marines and having a field day.

This wasn't that anymore, shit was serious and not looking to get better. And if I tell her the severity of the situation it's going to crush her.

I just didn't know how to tell my wife that I may have to leave her and the life we had begun building to go and endanger myself for ignorance.

And most importantly I didn't want to trigger her PTSD, she has been great for years and I didn't want to break that streak for her.

But I had to let her know. Just not now.

𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗚𝗢, 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗔

Hearing the keys jingle in the front door I began stepping down from the step ladder I had up in front of the Christmas tree that I had just finished decorating as Max sprinted to the front door.

"Hey, boy, your Mom put you in that?!" I heard Colton ask Max as I walked around the corner with a smile

"Hey, baby," I said as he wrapped his arms around me and kissed my lips roughly causing me to moan lowly

"How was work?" I asked as he slowly pulled away

"Boring, how was your day?" He then asked while looking down at me and biting his lip before lifting me into his arms

"I got some extra sleep, missed you, cleaned a little, thought about you some more, and then cooked your favorite," I replied kissing somewhere on his face each time I stated something new

"Mmhm, why do you have Max in that Christmas sweater though? He's happy but he damn near can't move." He began to tease while laughing

"He's a big baby and it's hard to find dog clothes that fit him!" I rebutted causing Colton to laugh harder

"Not gonna lie, baby, he should bite you for squeezing his back into that shirt." He replied still laughing which made me laugh at his silliness

"You're just mad because he'd never!" I then said while still laughing as he walked us into the kitchen and sat me on the counter

"I appreciate you and I love you so much." He said before kissing me gently

"Your parents here yet?" Colton then asked while staring at me intensely causing my mind to flutter

"No, but-" I began to say as he slipped off his shirt causing me to begin staring since he had distracted me from what I was about to say

"Can we use that whipped cream that you brought before they get here?" He then asked causing me to think about last night when we used it which led to me limping all morning

"Tempting, but-" I began to say before he pressed his lips against mine passionately and trail his hands beneath my shirt as he mumbled huskily, "But nothing let me fuck you on this counter. We can be sorta quick."

"Colton!" I then moaned lowly as he began kissing my neck while holding my waist

"Oh! My! Gawd!" Evie then said causing him to stop and groan looking toward the ceiling

"Wait, bitch, let me see! Oh, ouu...ouu." Theo then said causing Colton to laugh still facing me

"That was the 'but' wasn't it?" He then asked causing me to nod with an awkward smile he turned to grab his shirt which was on the floor

"Dinah, you dirty hoe!" Evie then said beginning to laugh

"Jesus, please let me touch it once!" Theo then said while staring at Colton's chest and abs as he slipped his shirt back on

"Where's you guys' parents?" Colton asked causing me to laugh

"Well, boo, they said they needed a break from us and went to get your hmm, wife, some extra goodies," Theo said causing me to send him a dirty look

"Don't look at me like that wait till he finds out you were flat-chested all of high school!" Theo then said causing Colton and Evie to laugh

"At least I have a pair!" I rebutted

"Okay and? We see those big ass bongos." Theo retorted

"I will put your ass outside next to that damn snowman inflatable, play with me!" I threatened causing him to throw his hands up in his defense

"I told you not to marry a hot dude before you did. Now you mad at me because I can't help myself, he walking around the house half-naked and shit and your big headed ass expect me not to look and speak!" Theo mumbled under his breath causing me to throw a dog toy at him

"Shut up, RuPaul, he didn't know you two were here." I rebutted rolling my eyes

"You two better be lucky it was just me and Theo, if Nalen was here he would've had a damn heart attack." Evie then said

"For real! But I'm just playing, I love y'all, y'all so cute! When I'ma get a niece?!!" Theo asked with a smile

"Remember when we do have kids to never let them babysit," Colton joked causing me to laugh and their faces to harden and that Virgo spirit of theirs to activate

"Hahaha...listen you family and all but don't play with us, we will jump yo big ass!" Evie said causing Colton to make an unfazed expression and shrug his shoulders beginning to laugh

"Yeah she'll jump...and I'll ride!" Theo then said sticking his tongue out causing us to laugh as Evie hit him causing them to begin play fighting

"Merry Christmas to you guys too!" Colton then said sarcastically while shaking his head as I laughed

Also, on another note: How ironic is it that I'm writing this book and started writing this because it was in my soul to write and now my uncle may be deployed? Everything I know and the little I adore about the military is because of him and now I'm literally in tears because people don't understand how scary this is when you're close to someone who may be put in danger. I will be continuing to write this book and some of the future plans for the book will be coming from some of my personal pain as well. Thank you all and I will continue writing because I feel the need to continue Dinah and Colton's story and I just want to say I appreciate everything because I'm nothing without you alls support. Just remember to hold and pray for people close to you because you never know what may happen.
