𝗔𝗙𝗚𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡, 𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗔

I looked around seeing the rest of the platoon had begun to rest for the remainder of our flight. Which was good, we were going to all need it for this extraction.

This was supposed to be a quick in and out, at least I prayed for it to be. Being in the military wasn't as easy as made seem by the shows and movies. I had two things in consistent conflict against me, I was a woman and at that, I was a black woman.

They love the thought of my help but couldn't stand the thought of me. It was both scary and powerful.

But it was something about this Seal team, something that screamed I was safe, welcome, and respected. Although, I did have to put Andrews on his back for being a smart ass.

"You gonna rest any, Barbie?" Andrews asked causing me to laugh lowly as he sat next to me

"I don't know Lieutenant you tell me," I said looking over toward him

"I know that I don't trust something about you." He rebutted causing me to nod

"Well, that's something for you alone to figure out, good luck in your searches." I retorted while pulling my Bible from my bag

"You believe in that bull?" He then said with raised eyebrow's causing me to laugh

"Yes, I do believe in a higher power," I replied

"Maybe I was wrong about you." He then said standing up causing me to make an unsure look as I replied simply, "Maybe I was wrong about you too, pretty boy"

He then turned and said "How'd you even get it anyway? You're the first female in history to ever be a Seal, what's in it for you?!"

"I'm making a difference, how about you?" I rebutted standing up to face him

"Being known as one of the best marksmen the United States Navy has ever had. Saving lives and saving my brothers. I guess what I want to know is when this bird touches down, will you be able to save and protect with me?" He replied looking me in the eyes

"I guess we shall get there and see." I replied sitting down causing him to do the same before reaching his hand out while looking at me again, "I don't like you, but congratulations, and you better watch my brothers as they are your own." He then said as I shook his hand

"I don't like you either," I replied laughing to myself

𝙉𝙄𝙉𝙀 𝙈𝙊𝙉𝙏𝙃𝙎 𝙇𝘼𝙏𝙀𝙍

"Are we going to sit here and ignore the fact that Colton here is always an asshole to the lovely Dinah because he likes her!" Houston poked causing me to laugh as we all were staking out in this abandoned house that was in the middle of our war zone

"Any woman who believes and lives by the fairy tale BS told in Bibles has already failed in my eyes as far as being my type," Colton said causing me to laugh as I continued holding my cover

"So your type is Satanists, all-black type of chick with long fingernails and likes to hiss a lot?" Ross asked causing us all to laugh

"Fuck off." Colton then said from his sniping position with a laugh before he said, "Wait, wait, I have movement."

"What do you see?" Boone asked before Colton took his shot, causing me to look carefully through a small lookout seeing it was a kid

"It was a suicide bomber. The kid was coming towards our tanks after his Mother handed the grenade off and left him. Um, Franks take my position please." Colton said as guilt began to wash over him

"I got you," Franks replied, relieving Colton as he made his way into the next room causing me to look towards the guys

"It's never easy when the bomber is a kid, Andrews always has been the one that takes it the hardest." Banks then told me causing me to nod

"I'm going to go check him out, Commander," I said following after Colton

"Are you good Lieutenant?" I asked seeing him pace back and forth through the empty room

"That's a dumb fucking question! Am I okay? No, I am not Dinah!" He said before punching a nearby wall

"Colton you have to pull it together." I said while walking closer toward him, "Remember what you told me when I first joined this platoon?" I asked

"That I hated you?" He said causing me to laugh and a smile to even appear across his lips

"No, boy, you told me to watch our brothers' back. And I feel like you need to take five and get your ass back out there to serve and protect, sir." I said while looking him in the eyes

I then gently grabbed his hand and said, "We have your back. Just don't go crazy on us."

He then leaned slightly closer causing me to hug him, "Thank you." He then muttered before we walked back into our hideout

"You two fairy princesses kiss back there?" Ross asked with a laugh from him and the guys

"Always knew it wasn't just your daughter watching those Barbie movies" Colton replied causing the guys to laugh in response

"Andrews hasn't cracked a smile or joke in the last two tours and this one he gets all laughy-smiley with our Dinah because she's here." Franks then said from his cover

"No, I just figured I'd laugh a bit before I die out here with you motherfuckers plus the lady." He replied causing me to shake my head in laughter

A/N: And that is chapter two. The book is told for the most part in flashback sequences as well! But this chapter is just a vague flashback to when Dinah joined the Seal team with Colton. And how her first tour went with them for the most part. How are you guys feeling? And what about the kiss that Dinah dodged?
